      This isnt the 1960s or 70s when cities were making multi purpose stadiums. In today's brave new world, the leagues and their cities MUST build the arenas and stadiums for the sport they are specifically playing, A Hockey arena CNAT be a Basketball arena too, and a Baseball stadium CANT also be used for Football. Better yet, the city MUST pay for it and theyll need a bank or a TV company to stick their name on the name of the place too.

    Last time i checked, Hawaii needed to pass a state bill to fund the entire complex/development including the football stadium. I always agree that Hawaii shouldn’t struggle to get decent to good recruits being in Hawaii. A former D1 player said its hard for college athletes to live that far from home in different time zones & it was s financial struggle to go back home when school is out. That was one of the reasons Hawaii struggled to get better recruits. My brother was stationed in Hawaii when he served in the Army. Said living there sucked, its more of a tourist spot where u stay for a week or 2. Also another contributing factor is Hawaii’s facilities & athletic department are really behind in just about everything. High school kids see that. These kids are competitors they wanna play for the best.
    Anyway, i pray they get this Stadium built. I really enjoyed Hawaii and the June Jones days. Hope the football program dont get the axe

    That new Bills stadium would be so loud like Seattle's because the awning or that lip on the top of it would bounce the crowd noise back towards the field instead of it traveling outside the opening. I went with my dad, uncles, and cousins to Orchard Park to see the Bills play Dan Marino back in the day when the Browns didn't have a team. We went to a different stadium every year until the Browns crappy expansion team came back. The Bills stadium in Orchard Park is in the middle of the suburbs of Buffalo. The locals charge fans for parking in their front lawns because a suburb housing neighborhood surrounds their statium.

    Ryan Field II is not so much for NW football but for another concert/event venue for the North side of Chicago. Soldier field is impossible to get to. Wrigley field is an option but a new state of the art stadium would be nice

    • @roris5882
      @roris5882 Год назад +1

      That would be smart because then they could capitalize off of the situation and the stadium would pay for itself if they are using it for all types of events like concerts and events so they could make it really nice.

    • @justsamoo3480

      That comparison doesn’t really make sense imo. Ryan field will have half the capacity of Soldier field, so big stadium shows will still happen there. This could however target smaller stadium shows, which tend to happen in Ballparks like Wrigley field.

    I don’t want the Royals to move, but if they do, then definitively yes to your remark about the fountains. Make them bigger for gods sake.
    I’ve never been to Kauffman Stadium, but as a lifelong stadium nerd, one of my earliest memories of unique stadium features was seeing on TV the fountains at Kauffman Stadium.
    They’re such a staple of the Royals, that if you must build a new ballpark (again which I’m against), make the fountains take up a lot more of the outfield, and then put some standing room bars in front of them or something

    Smaller capacity baseball stadiums actually make sense. Smaller footprint and better sightlines. A lot of the old "cookie cutter" multi purpose stadiums (Shea, The Vet, Three Rivers, Riverfront, Atlanta-Fulton, Oakland-Alameda) had too many seats for baseball, and a lot with poor views. Even when the teams were good, how often were the selling out 55k-60k seats?

For those that don't know the City of Oakland did not own that land to start with and the Port of Oakland that did, really didn't want to sell. No other location made sense. It really was an issue that Oakland just had no place to built, the current site was a non starter.

    I hate the fact that the Bills stadium is outdoors and still in the suburbs, that's a massive L for me. Nashville's new stadium will be attractive to a lot of things including CMAs and other big events. I believe the Chiefs are moving downtown too with the Royals, but the royals might be moving down there first. Philadelphia is building a new arena downtown that's supposed to be ready by 2030.

    • @scotttild
      @scotttild Год назад

      Buffalo wanted it outdoors the fans even voted on it and the ownership wanted it that way because its a competitive edge for them sometimes. Also Buffalo is not getting a final four or the Superbowl, too small a city. A roof adds about 750 million to 1 billion to the price tag, so I can see why Buffalo went without. They may do more of a partial roof to protect the fans a bit more. The designs are not final.

    Bills putting up a stadium with no roof is insane

    • @scotttild
      @scotttild Год назад

      Actually makes a lot of sense if you look at the price tag of a roof. For a normal roof you are looking at 750 million in additional costs for a retractable roof its over 1 billion extra. For a small market team like the bills it was added costs that didn't make sense. Fans also voted to have it open air. A city like Buffalo is not getting a Super Bowl on a regular bases or a final four the city is too small so a roof really makes no sense in terms of money.
