  • According to OceanGate, fewer than 250 people have seen the Titanic in person since it sank. For comparison, more people have been on board the International Space Station. Here's what we know about the Titan, and the tech on board (both high and low) that makes this van-sized vessel able to withstand the depths of the ocean.

As of writing, the sub has still not been found and the 96-hour oxygen window is closing. There are 5 people aboard the Titan: OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood with his son Suleman. The Coast Guard delivered no updates overnight into Thursday and it's still an active search and rescue operation.
