I didn't like the film, but it made more money than all of Lean's previous pictures put together.. Lean wanted O'toole for Zhivago, but he turned him down. I have never been a big fan of Christie. Lawrence of Arabia is much better.
Mr. Sharif stated at about the 3 minute mark that Dr. Zhivago 'was probably the most perfect person that I've ever heard about'. I don't know about the book, but in the movie, Zhivago was an adulterer. The only perfect person that I've ever heard about is my lord and savior, Jesus Christ. The only perfect human that ever lived on this planet.
Proselytizing is one thing, but taking advantage of a turn of phrase to show your moral superiority is a bit much. Don't you see how you are turning off vastly more people than you are turning on? Probably not.
