Zeus would actually likely simply be storm related (Tornadoes and lightning). Chaos would arguably be when ares -the god of war- died. If it's reasonable to consider each god dying affecting what they were the ruler of, it stands to reason imho that we only saw parts of the greek realm but likely all of them were killing each other enmass.
@@dylanriddle782 No idea, all I know is logically following suit, all hell breaking loose (Figuratively, not literally. That doesn't happen till hades dies) on earth would follow after the death of Ares. Constant war and bloodshed should be expected given the nature of how that realm was present. A new god of war took the throne, and omg it's sheer chaos!!! Like...yha? That's kinda what you'd expect
In my opinion the most brutal death was Kronos. Poor guy had his guts spill out of him, a giant spike up his chin, and sliced up from the inside out. For Kratos, the bigger you are, not the harder you are to kill. The bigger you are the slower and more painful your death will be
@@owenjones7522 in god of war 1 theres a way to get infinite magic using poseidon's rage. It could just be causality but I think it's because of that that they made his death scene brutal
At a glance, Odin’s death might seem underwhelming. But I think it works well thematically for a few reasons. 1. One of Odin’s greatest atrocities was the genocide of the giants. So to have his soul trapped by a giant’s spell is a fitting retribution. 2. It’s a good call back to the beginning When Atreus (unknowingly) put Fenrir’s soul into his knife. 3. The fact that Sindri ultimately destroyed his soul was karma for him killing Brok.
Nah Odin's death was honestly just pathetic. All that build-up about Kratos' rage for nothing. Odin should've pissed off Kratos(like maybe seriously threatened Atreus' life) and that reawakens the old Kratos we know and love. EDIT: Just because he's moved on from being just a killer for the Greek gods, doesn't mean he still can't kill or has to be a totally reserved pansy. They make such a big deal about him killing Heimdall, but he was a total dick and deserved it. It's not like Kratos hasn't already killed thousands of named and no-names already... but suddenly it's a big deal. Just feels like a bad writing attempt at pacifying Kratos. Brutal mayhem is a part of what made this series so great. Kratos can still be a good guy and occasionally rip assholes to shreds. The story's message didn't fit God of War or Kratos. It's a disservice to the character and franchise.
God Of War 3 is legendary. I remember playing it in my last years of gaming years as a teenager 16-17 years old. I never forgot this game franchise and never will.
For a PS3 It's so fantastically great with graphics despite the xman game lagging throughout the entirety of the game I guess game mascots are immune to fps drops
Here’s how I have it. Best boss fight of the franchise: Ascension. The oracle was absolute bell to bell madness and felt challenging without feeling cheap. It was a visual masterpiece as well. The temple falling apart around you was crazy to see, and the green aura around the oracle and his weapons was really cool. Just an absolute 10/10. Best roster of bosses: Chains of Olympus. There are no bad bosses. The Persian guy was unique, the giant kraken thing was a throwback to the Hydra from 1, and every boss after that is nuts to butts. My favorite boss would be the boat captain to Hades, but Persephone was also great. She was something of a puzzle boss but she was still action packed which is hard to do. (Honorable mention to 2, very close runner up) Best enemy design: 1. It’s not even close. Seriously google some of the character art, better yet, just go back and play it. All the enemies look bad ass. There are no bad art choices. Best combat: Ascension. Most of the god of war games have very easy combat by nature of the genre. So for me, this contest is more like “hardest combat.” In which case, I have to say Ascension. But it’s not just punishing for the sake of it. The challenge is fun to take on and the mechanics all feel very balanced. (Honorable mention to 1, but the real challenge in that game is the puzzles) (DISCREPANCY Levels are the parts of the world you get to explore and interact with. Environments are the backdrops and views that you can’t interact with) Prettiest levels: 1. This isn’t even fair. A massive chunk of 1 takes place inside a single temple, where they get to focus solely on the aesthetics of the playable area. Of course 1 would have the coolest looking playable areas. Prettiest environments: 3. This was a very tough choice for me. 2 had some jaw dropping environments, even 1 had its moments. But in 3 there were just so many spectacular visuals and the consistency earns it this ranking. (Honorable mention goes to 2) Coolest weapons: 3. This is sort of by default. 3 had the most alternate weapons, and all of them are great, so of course it would win. (Honorable mention to 1 simply for the blade of Artemis) Best magic: 1. It’s a close race between 1 and Ascension, but the magic in 1 looks a lot cooler and feels more powerful. (Honorable mention to Ascension for the balancing and utility of the magic)
@@windrider2190 And as a result of that action, Thor refusing to do Odin's bidding, Odin sacrificed him (or killed, whichever you prefer) to protect himself. It's a perspective.
Don't be sorry for Athena, she was evil as fuck. Athena was the true mastermind behind everything that happened. She was only chasing her own interests even when sacrificed herself to stop Kratos from killing Zeus. She wants every other god dead so she can rule with the power of hope, she saved Zeus so he can run back to Olympus and have Kratos invading it and killing everything in his way to him. If Zeus would have died that first time, Kratos vengeance would have ended on the spot, and Athena would never be able to reclaim the power she put inside Pandora's Box and rule Greece because the other gods would still be alive. But she failed, because she didn't know hope was already inside Kratos since the end of GoW 1, and we know what happened
Man I find the interaction between Hercules and kratos to be heartwarming in a way because kratos didint want to kill Hercules, if anything you almost get the feeling of kratos thinking to himself “ah no Hercules not you” because they had no bad history besides their fathers favouritism
It's also ironic that Heracles is jealous because in reality Heracles is the most famous demigod of the mythology and one of the most famous of all mythologies while Kratos is pretty much unknown
@@nikmar77there actually is a person in Greek Mythology named Kratos, but has nothing to do with the videogame character In myth, he’s basically the representation of strength, and is kinda known to be ruthless He had a few siblings whose names I forget, but they too represent a certain trait like Victory, Faith, etc etc In the case of the game though, this character was just coincidentally named Kratos, in an interview in GOW3 it was stated that it was just a little happy accident that he was named like this But your original comment still really stands - in actual Greek myth, Heracles is much much much more widely known than the mythological Kratos

You'd think after a while of killing a large number of god, demi gods and titans and other powerful beings anyone or anything that encountered kratos would just like "scuse me, let me get that door for you and get the fuck out of your way"
Frfr 💯. Unfortunately I feel it was just deep pride, ego, and jealousy which is why they always coming for his head. They have a huge ego and narcissistic until Kratos took their asses out of here. It’s crazy lolz. I thought dude would had been feared like hell and respected. He’s a demigod so he’s not respected as well which is why they wanna kill him.
I don't think any of us could ever understand the mindset of a deity. You have to understand, they have been around for... well presumably eternities. They are true immortals. Threats to their being have come and gone. They have witnessed the rise and fall of infinite numbers of potential "kratos's" in their own realms, and none have ever succeeded. This doesn't just breed confidence, this likely also ensures an ego beyond what someone with a limited lifespan could cultivate. They have always existed, and so they believe they will always exist. Something like mortality, like fear, like Kratos, is anathema to what the gods know or can understand. The sheer thought that a mortal could kill them is, literally, beyond their ability to reason or understand. How could they, immortal beings who have always been, cease being? The wisdom and willpower to overcome an ego fostered over an immortal, incomprehensibly long lifetime is tremendous. Athena, Freya, Tyr, etc, they're all amazing BECAUSE of that, to me anyway.
It makes sense for the Aesir, though. They are famous for always wanting the smoke. They literally crave battle. Odin said it best, "Dying is what we Aesir live for." And they have their own Kratos equivalent in Thor. So them asking for it is a given.
Santa Monica was really smart in ragnarok to include the little tidbit from freya about once his pantheon died and his homeland was destroyed all of the magic he had was lost. Save from being a near immortal God with insane strength of course
Smh. She was a Jezebel that’s all. Just very lustful and hypersexual. She wanted sex with her relative literally which is Kratos which makes it even more vile and an abomination. She’s the god of love but should’ve been the god of sex lol.
@@Master_Yoda916 Lol, while that's funny, it's definitely not cannon. I just think the creators were having fun with that and maybe trolling a bit to see if it would be selected or not. But somebody had to make those moaning and groaning noises, which is a bit weird and awkward for those doing the voices. But hey, I always skipped over that option because I never felt it was the real way Kratos would go about that. And he's too strong-willed to have just felt lust for her when she is another part of the same Pantheon he's trying to wipe out. That said, he had not got laid in like 10 years before that because his wife and kid were slain by his own tricked hands and decided to off the gods one by one and that took a lot of time and planning, as well as well, not getting laid.
Baldur’s death and just the circumstances around it has got to my favorite out of all these. The music just as it happens is enough to make it stand out and it actually makes you feel something for him.
my favorite too... one of the only gods to have a 'good death' the others being: hera and odin... yes thats litterally the only others that didn't suffer extreme agony before their deaths(hera got her neck snapped and odin had his soul taken out via atreus and I do not think atreus would do that if it was torturously painful to him. and heimdall had his ARM EXPLODED so his death while not as brutal was still toturous and thor litteraly died at his lowest emotional point by his own fathers hand with his daughter watching... NOW THATS DISRESPECTFUL!)
@@VERGILGASMno… in Ragnarok, he stated he tried to get rid of the Blades of Chaos and he failed, threw them to the seas in his journey to Egypt and the Blades did a 180 and destroyed his boat… something like that, so no… he hasn’t gotten rid of them and probably, the curse was put by Athena
To me personally Hera’s death is probably the saddest, and to me thematically I find very interesting as Kratos is essentially taking his anger out on a sad pathetic spiteful woman who’s kinda genuinely trying to deal with the catastrophic consequences of his actions. And while she honestly taunted him into doing it possibly as a suicide, I can’t help but feel it’s just idk like I see that and go “damn kratos”
Kratos did not want to kill Hera until the last moment, it was clear. Kratos simply pushed Hera away. But as soon as Hera started talking about Pandora, Kratos could not stand it, because he needed her like air to extinguish the Flame of Olympus

freya was the only one that didn't see herself for what she was. odin knew he was shit, she didn't. she thought everyone she wronged had to just let it go but she couldn't let it go for odin. baldur didn't let it go but she acted as tho every wrong she did was out of love and everyone else's wasnt
But she recognizes that she was wrong though. In one of the quests on Vanaheim after freeing her, she learns to set aside her obsessive hatred of Asgard and Odin to gain more effective means to fight for what is just instead of hatred. Heck, even when she was freed, she looked at her tattoos as they were glowing from the curse being lifted just like her son. She realized just what it meant to live under a similar fate to Baldur, and truly just how cruel what she did to him was; which explains why she spared Kratos afterwards. I’m not gonna pretend that she’s a perfect character storytelling-wise, but some credit has to be given where it’s due.
"This is not between us Hercules" Kratos knows Hercules is under influence but he respects him enough because he's the only one who's genuine and knows familial loss
Off the top of my head Orkos was the only God who didn't betray Kratos and stayed true to his word by releasing Kratos even at the cost of his own life, dude was a true friend
My top 2 are Zeus's death and Hercules' death. Just raw and vicious beat downs. Ragnorok really should've had one of those kills. Heimdall felt censored by comparison.
People would obviously end up comparing Odin to Zeus in their boss battles, that’s not surprising, and it’s also not surprising that nearly everyone came to the conclusion that Zeus’ boss fight is better (I haven’t even played that GOW and even from just gameplay footage, I give it to Zeus) But considering that GOW 4 and Ragnarok were about being better and making better choices over acting entirely on emotions and desires and justifying it since “We’re gods and can do whatever we want” it makes sense that the ultimate culmination of all that is an old man whose sense of power is knowledge and control over others For Zeus, power was POWER, the ability to destroy and wreak havoc, and it was a simple story back then, just kill the gods because they wronged you and need to pay But to Odin, power is found in knowledge and control over others, it’s why Odin is constantly seeking new knowledge, and it’s also why he manipulates others or destroys them if he can’t control them It makes sense that Odin would be weaker than Zeus, their ideas of power are completely different, Zeus finds power in destruction, Odin finds power in influence and both bosses are meant to stand for something different Zeus was a challenge of Kratos’ determination and strength, Kratos couldn’t just kill him and be done, Zeus would just keep coming at him, it was challenging Kratos to actually successfully kill him Odin was challenging Kratos’ morality, killing Odin would be as easy as bringing the axe down on his neck, putting his spear through his chest and blowing it up, or breaking his neck with the chains of his blades, but he wants to spare Odin, give him a chance to redeem himself
I feel like some people forgot that Theseus was literally beaten with his head in between doors which makes him a contender of the most gruesome deaths in the series
I'm proud to say that I'm one of the few that played every GOW, starting from the first one on ps2 all the way to GOW 2018. Even played the cellphone one on my LG chatterbox. Gow 2 was my favorite
first: 2 has the best story but 3 has the best weapons. second: you are the only person I have ever met who played the mobile game so that is how I can undeniably say: you valid.
Helios: He is the god of the sun but in his battle he only uses light to defend himself Baldur: He is the God of light but in his fights he only uses his fucking but very effective fists to defend himself (oh, and from time to time ice and fire) I love god of war ♥
I feel like there's this misconception that the new GOW games hold some kind of contempt for the originals story but if you actually pay attention to the themes of both new and old, alot of it is connected in very meaningful ways and there are both emotional and thematic parallels and yet are both handled very differently to show just how much Kratos has changed. There is a clear respect for the originals games and yet the new series never feels like its trying too hard to recapture nostalgia in the same way alot of "reboots" and understands that the series should move forward.

What's amazing with a lot of gods deaths from the older games is how unceremonious they were. Of course some very important ones had a cinematic cutscene, or a crescendo of music. @@Sun-God2 i mean about the scene/event of killing, i could never forget that Gaia punch and Kratos throwing/hiting Poseidon, Helios death is gluesome, as any other
You can really see a contrast between the Olympians and the Aesir. Most times when Kratos is about to kill a Greek god, they beg or bargain for their life. On the other hand, the Norse gods practically dare Kratos to kill them. Some of them, like Heimdall, even got outraged when Kratos tried to spare them and show them mercy. Really goes to show how the Olympians were power-hungry tyrants who fancied themselves invincible and couldn’t believe anyone would or could pose a threat to them, and when someone does, it terrifies them because they fear losing their power and being rendered helpless. Meanwhile, Odin said it best: dying is what the Aesir live for.

Hades death( All the Souls are released)
Helios death(The sun Vanishes)
Hermes( A fly and Wasp Plague)
Hera Death ( All plants Die)
Zeus death ( Chaos enrages)
Zeus would actually likely simply be storm related (Tornadoes and lightning). Chaos would arguably be when ares -the god of war- died. If it's reasonable to consider each god dying affecting what they were the ruler of, it stands to reason imho that we only saw parts of the greek realm but likely all of them were killing each other enmass.
Ares: atomic explosion
Thanatos: another explosion
Persephone: another explosion x2
Athena: another explosion, but green
Interesting Kratos did not kill Aphrodite. Being good in bed has its benefit.
Since when was Hermes related to the plague in Greek Mythology? 🤔
To this day Poseidon still had the most brutal death out of all of them
Which i kinda don't get. I'm sure we found the INFINITE MAGIC glitch very early in GOW1. Oh wait its probably cause of that
In my opinion the most brutal death was Kronos. Poor guy had his guts spill out of him, a giant spike up his chin, and sliced up from the inside out. For Kratos, the bigger you are, not the harder you are to kill. The bigger you are the slower and more painful your death will be
@@langleysenterprise5134what?
@@owenjones7522 in god of war 1 theres a way to get infinite magic using poseidon's rage. It could just be causality but I think it's because of that that they made his death scene brutal
Idk, it was pretty brutal but Helios getting his head ripped off sounds pretty miserable too. Kratos just hands out bad days like halloween candy
Looks like an old WW1 veteran dying in an nursing home in his sleep.
Sounds like a cope bruh

God Of War 3 is legendary. I remember playing it in my last years of gaming years as a teenager 16-17 years old. I never forgot this game franchise and never will.
For a PS3
It's so fantastically great with graphics despite the xman game lagging throughout the entirety of the game
I guess game mascots are immune to fps drops
Here’s how I have it.
Best boss fight of the franchise:
Ascension. The oracle was absolute bell to bell madness and felt challenging without feeling cheap. It was a visual masterpiece as well. The temple falling apart around you was crazy to see, and the green aura around the oracle and his weapons was really cool. Just an absolute 10/10.
Best roster of bosses:
Chains of Olympus.
(Honorable mention to 2, very close runner up)
Best enemy design:
1. It’s not even close. Seriously google some of the character art, better yet, just go back and play it. All the enemies look bad ass. There are no bad art choices.
Best combat:
Ascension. Most of the god of war games have very easy combat by nature of the genre. So for me, this contest is more like “hardest combat.” In which case, I have to say Ascension. But it’s not just punishing for the sake of it. The challenge is fun to take on and the mechanics all feel very balanced.
(Honorable mention to 1, but the real challenge in that game is the puzzles)
(DISCREPANCY
Levels are the parts of the world you get to explore and interact with. Environments are the backdrops and views that you can’t interact with)
Prettiest levels:
1. This isn’t even fair. A massive chunk of 1 takes place inside a single temple, where they get to focus solely on the aesthetics of the playable area. Of course 1 would have the coolest looking playable areas.
Prettiest environments:
3. This was a very tough choice for me. 2 had some jaw dropping environments, even 1 had its moments. But in 3 there were just so many spectacular visuals and the consistency earns it this ranking.
(Honorable mention goes to 2)
Coolest weapons:
3. This is sort of by default. 3 had the most alternate weapons, and all of them are great, so of course it would win.
(Honorable mention to 1 simply for the blade of Artemis)
Best magic:
1. It’s a close race between 1 and Ascension, but the magic in 1 looks a lot cooler and feels more powerful.
(Honorable mention to Ascension for the balancing and utility of the magic)

Of all of them, the only 2 I felt sorry for were Athena and Thor. Sacrificed to protect somebody who didn't care about them. Tragic.

People would obviously end up comparing Odin to Zeus in their boss battles, that’s not surprising, and it’s also not surprising that nearly everyone came to the conclusion that Zeus’ boss fight is better (I haven’t even played that GOW and even from just gameplay footage, I give it to Zeus)
But considering that GOW 4 and Ragnarok were about being better and making better choices over acting entirely on emotions and desires and justifying it since “We’re gods and can do whatever we want” it makes sense that the ultimate culmination of all that is an old man whose sense of power is knowledge and control over others
For Zeus, power was POWER, the ability to destroy and wreak havoc, and it was a simple story back then, just kill the gods because they wronged you and need to pay
But to Odin, power is found in knowledge and control over others, it’s why Odin is constantly seeking new knowledge, and it’s also why he manipulates others or destroys them if he can’t control them
It makes sense that Odin would be weaker than Zeus, their ideas of power are completely different, Zeus finds power in destruction, Odin finds power in influence and both bosses are meant to stand for something different
Zeus was a challenge of Kratos’ determination and strength, Kratos couldn’t just kill him and be done, Zeus would just keep coming at him, it was challenging Kratos to actually successfully kill him
Odin was challenging Kratos’ morality, killing Odin would be as easy as bringing the axe down on his neck, putting his spear through his chest and blowing it up, or breaking his neck with the chains of his blades, but he wants to spare Odin, give him a chance to redeem himself
The voice acting when he says "Athena, no!" is actually incredible.

Remember when we had epic fights and brutal deaths? Forget it, now we have family drama and "we have to be better"
Honestly the old GOW games are waaaaaay better than the recent ones.. they were legendary diamonds.
The boy learned the fight very well from Kratos
GOW 3 was truly a masterpiece.
But the first 2 were masterpieces bc without them than there won't be a God of war 3
it sure is, although GOW 2 was my favourite. i'll never forget the chills i got when i first saw the ending
bro the hermes death is most sad death i think🗿 and satisfying💀💀💀💀
I love how calmly Kratos talked with Zeus
Helios: He is the god of the sun but in his battle he only uses light to defend himself
Baldur: He is the God of light but in his fights he only uses his fucking but very effective fists to defend himself (oh, and from time to time ice and fire)
I love god of war ♥
you think they’re making the game outta of accuracy lol no they just wanna make story games abt the myths and gods
@@Bigtwinkissac209I know, I'm a god of war fan (who would have thought), but it still seemed ironic to me
Christopher Judge did a great job, but T.C. Carson added a certain flare "YOU LIE, HELIOS!!!
I love Old Man Kratos, but younger, more vengeful and RUTHLESS Kratos is all the way badass. He's pretty much the badass of the 2000s fighting games.
GOW is a Hack and Slash not a fighting game.
Kratos after seeing Hercules: You are big! Fought bigger! Killed bigger!!
GOW 1 and 2 need a remake
Badly. Graphics are horrible.
Even the spinoffs

As cool as every boss is in the series, i must say that i just love Baldur, his look, his talking, everything ❤
No wonder Jeremy Davies (the guy who played Baldur) won a BAFTA for his role
pretty sure that female fire titan died in ghost of Sparta considering we needed her essence to get to the domain of death. Yes the titans count considering they were gods and immortal beings that birthed the Olympian gods.

For games on the ps2, those first cutscenes were fantastic!! (I’m a gen z, born in 2003, don’t judge me for my amazement XD)
Also, I frickin love how Hercules’s voice is so loud in comparison to everyone else. His size likely has a part to play lol
Watching Kratos kill poseidon through the gods eyes was bad ass! How terrifying. You have never truly known a challenge, then this guy shows up. You feel self righteous and know he can't stop you. ... Then he ragdolls you around. He knew fear in the end that's for sure.
Greek Goddesses have the biggest pairs of eyes I've seen in gaming
Dang that was quite the progression, I wonder what comes next for Kratos, each one got better than the last but a lot of those are just brutal!
Egyptian mythology was confirmed to be next, it wouldve been last game but they decided to do it after
I can't imagine Kratos killing anymore gods after Ragnarok
@@DuendeCaughtOnTape Right, it's certainly interesting to see where the story goes and actually ends. I haven't seen the Valhalla DLC yet but I don't think it answers that. I'd imagine these characters have to end sometime right? I haven't personally played any of the god of wars games but I've seen a few of them.
Fun fact:in the Zues fight the black stuff that comes out is what effected all gods but Zues got so weak that he died TY SO MUCH FOR 11 LIKES❤
I like to think that athena chose to follow kratos after she had passed. Choosing to follow him and give him the wisdom he needs from the goddess of wisdom. And not following him to torment him but to help him down the path he had chosen for himself.
Nuh. Athenas ghost shares the same energy that Odin’s rift and the mask. If the studio will decide to continue the story, we definitely will see Athena or what she’s become in future.
Athena was using kratos for her interest
Athena at the end seemed to be an entitled brat almost, using the fall of Olympus as her ascension and demanding kratos give up his power to her. Instead he released it so the world could heal. I don't trust Athena.

"Olympians overestimate themselves"
- Kratos-
never underestimate someone who has the power of the circle
Is it because he’s calm and reasonable?
What's amazing with a lot of gods deaths from the older games is how unceremonious they were. Of course some very important ones had a cinematic cutscene, or a crescendo of music. But a lot of them, Kratos just killed them like the literal obstacle they were on his path, with the game not making a big deal of it xD
10:29 I'm surprised this didn't get taken down for that in the screen

Now that I think about it, who drinks more; Hera or Thor?
LOL, i didn't remember she drank so much, even before she dies she stay mad because there's no more wine.

Pantheon and Norse gods have a really big gap based on power. If kratos were to fight norse gods as his past angry self gow4 and gowr would be cakewalk
If greek Kratos fought the norse gods, Kratos would be dead.

33:13 -When I try to turn off a lamp by pressing the switch with my foot but continues short circuit and light up.
My favourite Kratos line is:
"THE TRUE WARRIOR DOES NOT HIDE,POSEIDON.
LEAVE THE SEA,AND FACE ME!"
