- Snow Patrol - An Olive Grove Facing the Sea (2009 Version)
From The Album Up To Now
The 3th song on cd 2
also on the album When It's all Over We Still Have To Clear Up
Lyrics:
Sworn to secrecy I might go after school
She was an angel I saw her swimming there
I am in such a mess I can't cope without this
She just teases me pretends she can't see me here
So let me go out there
I can breathe fresh air
Stay with you all night
Just let me love you
Just for a while want to
Be with you all night
Be with you all night
Until I fall asleep
Just let me be here
I won't tell anyone
Don't want to wake up
The blind lead the blind so why can't I find my way
This could be heaven but I don't know where I am
I am too scared to come out from behind here
My body is aching it feels like it's wearing me
This is easily the most underrated the best track Snow Patrol has done. Raw perfection.
Totally agree Sir 😊
Absolutely. Get pissed off with the general public's obsession with "Cars" (albeit a fine song) but this song is truly a thing of beauty. They were so young when they wrote it.
This song is one of the most beautiful songs I will ever hear. It is simply impossible to tire from hearing it.
This one is so much better than the original
I really think this is one of the most gorgeous songs ever written. The extrapolation of verse and chorus is _perfect._ the first verse immediately lulls you in - from word ONE you already know you're gonna dig the song. The melody and chord structure's just _really_ good. It's rare enough; songs that have that ability - to get to you right from the get-go. But then, out of nowhere: *BAM* the chorus hits, seemingly coming _far, FAR_ away from somewhere completely else. It lifts the whole song into a new melodic plane entirely. it's really some hell of a bit of songwriting - awesomely enough, it reminds me of something The Beatles would have done. They were often capable of doing that bit of magic - starting really strong, then taking the whole piece to entirely new, unexpected levels. Of awesome. (For just _one_ totally memorable example, see *Hey Jude's* famous shift at the three minute mark from the verse/chorus structure into the iconic "Na na na na" coda that plays out for a full four minutes, and plays out the song.) This isn't the only time Snow Patrol have done this, either - anyone remember That's _my_ two (hundred) cents, anyway.
Bijinius Cross Nice analysis.
10 years ago, I met the first girl I ever had a real crush on and had a thing with. She passed away about a year ago. She was almost my age. At the time these older songs from snow patrol had always reminded me of her and gave me dreams of her. Now when I listen they come back. She died way too young. She was an angel. She has made a mark on my life forever.
:-(
Sorry bro
What a fantastic voice this guy has , hands down one of the greatest accoustics I've heard
Extremely beautiful
Hard to beat Snow Patrol when your life is going tits up.
This is my favourite song of all time. This version too. I never remember buying it, think it was on one of my dads old CD’s and ended up on my iPod. Years went by and I found that iPod. Hit shuffle and this came back through time. I’ve never stopped since then
It was actually on an old iTunes 12 days of Christmas so that'll be where you got it from
@@FrankFurther ahhh yes it was! Thanks for the reminder, truly one of the best Christmas presents I ever got!
Perfection
This song is a work of art, which should not envy the best Radiohead
this song always gets me
Sublime........💙
Underrated song
The guitar is so strong.
What a gem ❤
I love the words ❤️💖💘❄️❄️❄️
Faultless 🙏🏻
Emily has good taste, it's a shame she's away...
T I M 😢😢😢
emily is away
I can't find this one on Spotify anymore, anyone know how to find it? As far as I can tell this is the only existing audio of this version
new album, maybe???? actually please.
If you didn’t know, they’ve released a new album recently.
Wildness...great album
Not nearly as good as the original version
So wrong. just the voice and the guitar makes it so much more powerful!
agreed
this is the better version for me :)
I have to disagree. The rawness of just his voice and the guitar in this version makes this version so much more emotional and powerful, in my opinion.
Yeah, didn't even know they did another version of it. Why would you want to redo the original, such a great song. I love Snow Patrol's first two albums but I'm not gone on anything past that -- they sound like a completely different band now. Too polished.
