- In this video I show you how I installed my kitchen cabinet crown molding. This video might help you if you want to install crown on your cabinets. This video may REALLY help you if you want to install that crown from the top of your cabinets tight to the ceiling with no gap and your ceilings aren't perfect. Sometimes with old houses it may seem impossible to not have a gap above the crown but NOTHING is impossible! The key to success is preparation and patience!

I always love watching somone improve their home and problem solve. Great job as always.
Great job one trick I learned is when installing the crown after nailing up the first piece I then take caulking and run a very small bead along the edge that will be nailed next that way if there are any small cracks or the seams are not perfectly mitered the caulking will fill that small void or crack. I use a squared off old credit card to run across the the two edges and then wipe with a damp rag. I also use the trick when installing trim around doors. A lot of DIYers will try to caulk a seam that has a small crack and it will not look as professional as this trick
I always learn something new everytime I watch your videos! Today I learned that I would love to pay someone to install crown if I ever want it!
Haha
Dude, you are our generations, Bob Villa. I used to love watching this old house.
I've always heard, "Cut your crown molding upside down and backward". Nobody ever explained to me to think of the bottom of your saw table as the ceiling!! Now, that makes more sense! Thanks for the tips!!
So satisfying to watch this all come together. Your description of what and why you are doing things a certain way and your attention to detail is top notch. I enjoy watching every one of your videos. Thanks for posting!
It’s the little things that make everything look so good. Nice job, love your videos!
When this video first started I thought, "Oh, Geez! He's not going to add additional blocking to bump the molding out to the depth of the doors! Wrong!" I almost turned it off but decided to see the molding mullet you were going to have at the end. Thankfully, mid-vid, you attached the extra blocking on the front of the original blocking. Kudos! Job well done!
I almost missed the first step to cutting crown is dropping it on the ground. Glad I watched to the end
🤣
And here I thought it was because I didn't have coping skills..
Stupid doctors
But really.. Good stuff as always. Coming along nicely
Dude that 1/4 reveal planing with the wall on the right side of the fridge was a flex.
Proof positive a kitchen doesn't have to be huge to be convenient and functional - well thought out plans make all the difference. And the crown makes it 'Top Shelf'. Great content, as always. Thank you.
Can't wait to watch the rest after I'm off work an home man
I like your attitude about being "patient."! Great job as usual, and I appreciate the sense of humor too!👍
Another great video. I have been racking my brain for the past few months trying to figure out who you resemble. You look similar to Donald Sutherland when he was younger!
😮😀 I guess I can see that.
What an awesome video. I love crown molding. It just makes an entire room.
That helped, especially with the fridge surround situation. Thanks
A crowning achievement! Excellent!
Great video. I Can't wait to see it when the kitchen is finished
Kitchen's looking great, it must be nice having someone like you who can do it all.
I'll be cutting crown in a week but I haven't done it in years but this video refreshed me...thank you
Can't wait for the finished product on the kitchen as a whole. This is turning out so awesome! Thank you for posting!
And thank YOU for watching, Susan!!
Love, love, love it - well done. The light top cabinets over the dark bottom ones look really sharp. 😎
I just found your web site last night. Thank you. I have an old 1900 house that has so many repairs. Your videos have been refreshing and helpful.
I’m amazed how well you hid all the normal flaws in an older home. All your reveals look perfect. Great job!
I like watching your angles and cuts.
I think that whoever does that job now will not have problems with your good description, very good for the teaching you give to those of us who do not know .thanks
I saw this video about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I was waiting for the next project, but I didn't. Hopefully, I'm not missing the rest of your project. Thank you and Goodluck 👍☺️
Beautiful work! It's amazing how you got all of the cuts perfect!
every video amazed at how much you've done to improve that kitchen and hallway, it's looking really nice
Great job so far. Can’t wait for the finished product.
Crown molding...when are we going to do it? Right now!!! Love it. It looks spectacular. Thanks for sharing with us. 💓
Wow! Just wow! Crown looks amazing. Love how you added the profile strip to add another detail to the cabinets. Also like how you transitioned the fridge cabinet to the hall and how that strip balanced the crown in the hall. A major improvement!
Thanks, Ann! I am happy with how it turned out!
Mighty fine job. The ancient Egyptians really shanked us with crown molding.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to share such information with us
Awesome
Best Crown Molding video I’ve seen
Thank you
I appreciate it, thanks!
Wow, the finished moulding is amazing!
Great Job!!!
Looks good. I've been impressed by your trim and crown work in your various videos. You've got a good eye for it and touch with it. Great work!
Love LOVE all the detail work! I think you and Mrs. Fixer will really enjoy. ❤️❤️
Just finished watching all of your old videos, up pops this one. This may be bad of me; but after watching you remove the front steps, I can't wait to see you remove the back steps. Loved watching all your videos.
Stay tuned! 😉
The kitchen is getting soo beautiful!!!! Great work. Love your videos
Dude! you are the man! I learned so much from this
Thanks a lot, Mike!
Nice man, as someone who does kitchens i enjoy seeing others approach and preferences. Im huge on adding a spacer to the tall cabs with extended face frames but it came out good here.
Use the Diablo blades, they make quick work. Looks like one of my projects, good work!! Details man details
Absolutely beautiful! Great work!
It's looking so beautiful!
Ooooohhhhh!! It's coming together ❤️! Excellent explanations and demonstration as always!
Wow, I love the look, it's so high end, detail work is so hard but, you excel at it! Outstanding outcome!
Nice video bro ,thank you.
Great video, the crown molding looks terrific. Your attention to detail from beginning to end is amazing and appreciated.
Thanks, Peggy!!
You do very nice work, Matt. 🤩
29:59 "nailed it hahaha" I actual lolled at that one! 😜
Looks so good man. At 32:30 I love the tip of gluing and nailing the outside corner first then fussing with the inside corner. Well done!
Wow! It’s looking beautiful!
Great Job!🤩
Looks amazing and so professional 👌
that looks absolutely lovely. great job.
Oooh Weee! I'm glad there's no test to take after this lesson. 🤓🤓I have a miter saw that I've never used. Interested in learning. Thanks for link. Crown moulding looks great. 🤗🤗
This is the video iv been looking around... Thank you 👍
So impressive!!
Wow, looks gorgeous!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! It looks great!
one tip.. when you cut the crown on the miter saw use a guide line or a stop block .. all crown have a reveal... so if you put it the same way on every cut you going to have much better match later...
This was really interesting and I feel like I learned a lot. I definitely want to add crown to our home at some point. Thanks for another awesome video with detailed explanation 👍
Wow, very impressed, it looks amazing.
I'm doing an older home now and I feel your pain on the imperfection's. Great job. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Much appreciated. I’m assisting my carpenter doing our new kitchen. We have similar cabinets, although not white. And this has given me some excellent solutions to how we were going to do the crown. And we have an odd size ceiling height, so we will not be connecting to the ceiling which may make things easier for us. But I appreciate your detailed explanations.
The Fixer, you are my favorite... Of course I enjoyed it all. Very informative as usual!! Please give my best to Mrs. Fixer & little Fixer, too
So clever around the frig!
Awesome video, well done. 👌
Man it's really coming along! I keep "jonesing" for the next video.
Great Work!
that is a crazy amount of fore thought. I did not do that with my kitchen cabinet install. Nicely done sir.
Looks fantastic!
Thank you for posting this!
Looks great!!! I love it
Very nice work!!
Awesome job. You are a great teacher 👨🏫
Looks really good
I don’t know, looks amazing to me! I’ve done crown to the ceiling and even in a new house the ceiling can be wonky as hell! lol I never really understood coping but I think the way you showed it…I now understand a little better…definitely looks like a handy skill depending on the circumstances. Anyway I think you “nailed it” in this one, can’t wait to see the final result!
You did a very good job I'm so excited for next ☺️👍👌😉
Love the videos…Great Job….Thank you!!!
I do this everyday, you did an amazing job!
Great to hear! Thanks, Joe!
As a contractor, I see many home owners thinking that the mitre cuts that come together are the finished product. When in fact there's still caulking and painting before everything's done. Yours looks really good even before those finishing touches. Fantastic job!
Thanks, Mike! I really appreciate that!
Looks nice
Thanks!
You could use the crown settings on your miter box so you can make cuts with the trim laying flat in the miter box instead of holding it at an angle. Makes for more precise cuts.
That would be ideal for perfect corners but this way is easier to adjust when (they almost always are) off.
Thank you. Great job!
Looks fantastic 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice job ...Very very very Good!!!!
Awesome video!!!
Great video.
Looking great!
Thank you!
Nice job!
