To be clear: I think this franchise moving is probably a net positive. The NHL will be collecting money from the sale of the team, which is good (the team will be bought by the NHL for $1B, and then sold to Ryan Smith for $1.2B).
Do I think the NHL hockey could have worked in Arizona? Absolutely. However, with the ownership the Coyotes have had, it's no surprise things turned out this way. Ownership is 100% to blame for what's happening here.
It's kind of a shame that the Coyotes are moving at a time when a lot of their prospects and young players are showing promise, but that's just how life goes sometimes.

I have no problem with Utah getting the Yotes. I’m just bummed out that we’ll never get a rebirth of Quebec because I needed an alternative to Doofus Dorion’s product, and something like Quebec would’ve been a perfect getaway.

Salt Lake City, Kansas City, and Houston would’ve all worked better because divisions wouldn’t be difficult as the Coyotes would stay in the Central

And they’ll win a cup before Doofus Dorion’s “rebuild”

I may not be someone that supports relocation, but it was the best time for both sides. If a team has 7 owners in 30 years, sent to bankruptcy twice, literally have the NHL do everything in their power to keep them in Arizona, being forced to pay rent to a 5,000 seat arena of a college team that they can't sell out, and then have the community vote a sewage plant over an NHL team, that should be a green flag to go. I always have a firm belief that the Coyotes should have been the ones to go back to Winnipeg instead of the Thrashers moving. It sucks and I do hope Arizona gets an expansion team with better ownership in the future.

You're absolutely right. Honestly, this whole fiasco came down to horrible ownership and mismanagement.

I feel for the fans of the Coyotes. I almost lost my Penguins in the 2000s. And I know they almost moved in the 80's, too. Yes, it makes sense for them to move, and SLC makes great sense. I still feel bad, and hope they get an expansion sometime soon.

Lest We forget, The Desert Puppies were the original Winnipeg Jets! The Arizona Thrashers usurped the position as the WJ's.

Why does Arizona have a team to begin with?

I'm upset that Utah poached the coyotes, Utah didn't need to poach the coyotes when they might get an mlb team along with already having nba and mls. I don't want there to be a city that has every major sport but is missing nfl, just like how Los Angeles was missing an nfl team from 1995-2015. So maybe Utah should get the chargers or if any city was going to poach the coyotes, it should've been Houston, because Houston is in the central, while Utah is too far west to be in the central.
