I have an 02 and it was actually pretty easy...I replaced the pump only and filter... Took me about 4 hrs including driving to get the part... I had about 1/4 tank of fuel... Sweet.

I replaced my entire fuel pump and sending unit a few years ago and now my fuel gauge is not working. I suspect its the sending unit and not the pump as the expedition runs just fine. Do you know if they sell just the sending unit or do I have to replace the entire unit?
I have a 99 expedition which won't readily receive fuel from the gas station nozzle. I have checked the charcoal canister and the bypass valve. What may cause this ?
HI I have 2000 Expedition 5.4L my issue might not be related , but my issue is that when I come to a stop or slightly slowing down when proceeding to go my truck act like it chokes out so i have to pump the gas peddle to make sure it doesn't cut off because sometimes it has and i throw it in park and generally it will start right up .....So I'm not sure why its doing that I've had someone say it could be a Solenoid valve under the truck that's not opening and closing properly .....Any other advise

that's a bad fuel pump. might as well replace the assembly

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT SPANNER WRENCH OR WHAT BRAND IS IT THAT YOU USED TO REMOVE THE PUMP HOLD DOWN NUT?
My 2000 Expedition was hit in the left rear while it was parked in front of my house. Over six grand in dmg. I started the car afterwards and it started fine so I drove it down the street to make sure I didn't have a bent axle. It didn't so I pulled it up in my driveway and there it sits. I tried to start it, but no go. Finally it drained the battery. Checked the inertia Switch, and it was fine, and still no start. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the response, I'll do that. Now... my gas Gage read 1/4 tank, and its parked on the driveway on a slant, so I don't believe its a true reading of gas level in the tank. I've had issues with gas level readings in the past, could also be something simple like... out of gas?
Can i get an id on the special tool needed to release the fuel line?
Auto parts stores sell them listed as AC and fuel line disconnect tool , plastic Ones are like $8 metal ones are like $15 ... metal ones work pretty good

Looks easy when you have a lift and fancy jack to support the tank...now show it while laying under the vehicle in the dirt...

John Salazar it would make the tank heavy and more prone to spills if you don’t. It’s not a must but I sure wouldn’t want any gas in there especially with a full tank
hey i got a ford expedition 2002 5.4L the car cranks but dont start,i checked it, and it didnt has fuel pressure then i replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, and still not start, i went to spark test, and has a little bit of spark, it looks poor, can you please help me
I had the same problem and just now figured it out. Check the wires running to the pressure sensor Mine were melted somehow just wired them back together and boom it fired up.check along the side of the frane

hi I have 2002 ford expedition 4.6L I've changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, and it still won't start it wants to but it just won't kick over, so now im thinking of changing the fuel pump drive module i just can't find it can anyone please tell me where it is. my last guess is its in the tank.
you should have checked compression.
I have a 1997 Eddie Bauer 4.6L 4x4 and is it replaced the same as this one? Also, which part number is the pump because I've looked and there are several different ones.

***** What would cause hesitation or wants to turn off when your taking off from a complete stop for a 2000 Ford Expedition 5.4 liter engine. If you easily press gas it won't hesitate but a hard press on gas seems to hesitate it. Fuel filter has been changed but no luck, spark plugs have been checked and firing correctly Thanks for the video.

I am guessing that the '98's are identical to this '99 ..... I think that mine just died!
After reinstalling the tank, he didn't mention adding the fuel before cycling the electronics. Be impossible to start without fuel.
