    A. Eye protection
    B. Never completely reverse the engine when you're scraping oil pan gaskets or the cleaning process.
Always leave it at an angle ..
This is so that debris from your scraping doesn't go directly into the engine.
If the engine is at an angle or sideways, the debris fall to the ground.

I did a lot of tweaks to that car, but still think the BEST "mod" I ever did was taking it to get a full 3d suspension geometry check done on it. The specialist (A place here in the UK called "PowerStation") asked me how I WANTED it to handle, I told them I like the front to have as much grip as possible, but the back to let go gradually at the limit to tell me I was close to trouble, and that was EXACTLE what I got. The handling went from "Well, I guess it's OK" to "More grip than I felt comfortable using on the road". :D

After machine work and a complete top end replacement I was finalizing the timing belt and making sure it was timed properly. I had her 'tap the key' and the damn engine came to life like it had been shut off for a moment. That was a shocking surprise. It was also a Daewoo Lanos so it was a miracle.
