CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Axel (Eddie Murphy) poses as a custom inspector to get what he needs.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
What's that wisecracking young black guy (Eddie Murphy) in that beat-up Chevy Nova doing in lily-white Beverly Hills? He's Axel Foley, a Detroit detective who's been sent on involuntary vacation because he refuses to drop his intention of avenging his friend's murder. Warned by Beverly Hills police chief Ronny Cox to stay out of trouble, Foley nonetheless dogs the trail of above-the-law Steven Berkoff, the British crime czar who was responsible for the murder of Foley's friend. With the help of sympathetic local cops Judge Reinhold and John Ashton and lady friend Lisa Eilbacher, Foley attempts to corner Berkoff in his mansion, which leads to a wild slapsticky shootout.

"With the exception of Cleveland", that line kills me every time
Me to it makes the scene work lol
But you know he through in a random city 🤣🤣🤣
@@keithjefferson2196 I think that was related to something in the 80s and wiretaps.
I'm weak lol. They said it was all improv too.
It is a classic line. Eddie during his good days.
The way he snatched their badges off though 😂
I thought I was the only one who howled at that.
Lol
One of the best parts. And the porsche comment
Well he had to, because one of the guys gave him match for Christ’s sake.
jshudo44 😂😂😂
“This guy gave me a match for Christ’s sake”. Always kills me.
The look he gave him too, like "My bad."
“You gave him a match?”
Why do you have almost the same comment like this : "With the exception of Cleveland", that line kills me every time ,
you brainless manipulated ugly ape.
1:15
In what scene?
To this day, Cleveland STILL has the worst security in the nation.
I’m not sure what is worse.... Security in Cleveland or the fact that I may indeed have 5 pounds of undigested red meat in my bowels....... lol
I'm a little young specially when this movie came out I wasn't even born but why is that a joke😕
I agree, Cleveland does have horrible security. They let a World Series slip right through their fingers :-) 3-1...
@@hawaiifiveohoh well golden state let a 3 1 lead slip as well
😂😂😂😂
The first key to running a convincing con, don't play into your mark's initial impressions. If Axle ran, then he gives away that he's not supposed to be there. By openly addressing and greeting security, he is acting like he belongs there. Number two, don't commit to your cover too early. That's why he kept his initial dialog non-specific. Number three, work with what you got. He uses his badge because he's reasonably sure that the guard won't recognize a Detroit Detective shield. Even so, he flashes it fast enough. Then, he uses the time while the guy is away to work on his cover now that he's not under the gun. This hints at his history referenced earlier in his scene with his criminal friend. It's also why he's a good detective as he probably has a well-trained bullshit detector from working that side of the law.
OK lol thanks for the lecture.
Everything you said is textbook-accurate. Not proud to say, but....I done ran a couple *mirages before and everything you said is crucial to the execution of a mirage. You *ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO OWN* the moment if your mission is to succeed. Unapologetically,...thas thee only way to convince thee security/vanguard that you are NOT a person of suspicion(even though you ARE...🤣)...Good post...
OMG- You`re such a smart a..!
Also.... It's pretend.
They are all pretending.
It's in a moving picture show about a police man who in on the wrong city by mistake and falls through a window.
@Folksy Slim LoL yeh um ok
Eddie Murphy, John Ashton, and Judge Reinhold improvised most of their comic lines. Literally hundreds of takes were ruined by cast members, actors, or the director laughing during shooting. During the "super-cops" monologue, Ashton is pinching his face hard and looking down in apparent frustration. He is actually laughing. Reinhold put his hand in his pocket and pinched his thigh really hard, trying to prevent himself from laughing
Who can keep a straight face when they're in the presence of Eddie Murphy?
I saw BHC in Cleveland, and the whole theater cracked up at that joke!
ROFL
too bad they didn't have the internet in those days i would've loved to see the reaction (not that audience reactions are that easy to get on youtube today tho)
Cleveland.... it's always Cleveland. Those guys need to get serious about security!
That's not what Drew Cary says..
If you watched Johnny Carson in his heyday, you would also know that kleptomaniac Claude Cooper is also from Cleveland so this should come as no surprise.
There was nobody there I think.
Poor Cleveland, always getting picked on.
How can a black man dressed like me just march in.. LOOL
Nice profile name. :D
Lool
Hey my evil ryu twin brother
@@Yacine_21uk. hey bro
@@azard3 after 4 years of evil ryu I dropped him for Cody I end up being #1 in Europe and #8 in world forgive me brother
This entire scene still cracks me up to this day.
These movies are sooo good, amazing talent.
Great movie
"I do security checks all over the nation and with the exception of Cleveland this place has the worse security in the nation "why did he have to do Cleveland like that though 😅🤣🤣
They must have different regulations 🤣😂😆😆🤣🤣
...we're not Detroit!
Cleveland was the butt of many jokes in the 80s lol
God I love this scene, 80s Eddie Murphy at his best.
Are you security here... Then you're the fuccin problem... Go get your supervisor please.. now!.... NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
you gave him a match?
OMG, you guys watched the video too?
....ok!...
"You gave him a match?!..."
lol hahaha
The delivery on that line just gets me every time, he sounds scared shitless when he says it.
Love the audible gulp on that line
That was actually brilliant! Instead of asking too many questions about who Axel really is, they’re now just worrying about keeping their jobs
Foley said he gone out for smoking....🤣🤣🤣
I like Eddie Murphy. He can be both serious and funny at the same time 😂
Taggart and Rosewood are very funny. 😂 Love them.
The best part of this is the cut from Eddie saying "..starting with this crate right here!" to Judge Reinhold saying "Wow!"
Not cut. Watch it again.
The acting in this one scene my Murphy is amazing.
The beginning smile is priceless
Well you eat a lot of red meat...
Is there any way to get it out?
@@Capcoor Probably a LOT of fiber, or a colon cleanse.
@@Capcoor There is no undigested meat inside the body.
Fragenzeichenplatte Then where did they get that from?
@@Capcoor Well, where did they get it from?
Where did they get everything in the movie from? It's fictional and all the dialogue is made up.
Still one of my all time favorites. Eddie Murphy is the GOAT.
GOAT?!!!
Rosewood and Taggart are so Laurel and Hardy without the slapstick
Aaaaah, my sweet 80's... :)
"This guy gave me a match for Chrissake!!"
"How can a black man... dressed like me."
He's a custom agent who walks into places. And if you let him in as a black man, you're in trouble.
I used to quote this scene line for line for my friends back in the day.
I’ve seen this movie a dozen times, but that Cleveland line always makes me bust a gut.
"With the exception of Cleveland "😆
Both Fletch and BH Cop are a series of scenes with Chevy and Eddie smooth talking their way into and out of funny situations.
Having had 2 colonoscopies, I'm thinking I don't have an ounce of undigested anything in my intestines!
The Red Meat topic at the end cracks me up
I love the Cleveland dig!! lol As a fellow Detroiter, that one made me laugh
Living on Linwood and tuxedo over here, got one of 2 houses left on the block. Like living in apocalyptic nuked city 30 years after the bombs dropped
Eddie Murphy is Brilliant.. I love his movies..
0:01 How Ya Doing?
Now!!!! , NOW!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣, Best hilarious actors
John Ashton (Taggart) was only 36 when this movie came out...I swore that he was in his 50s!
Mauricio Berdugo he really did looked old AF 😲
Welcome to the 80s🤣🤣 i didn't know he was that young either lol
@@CarlyneDTQTonPod he really old af now
@jonathanbirch2022 🤣🤣🤣🤣 omigod! that was funny
6 people from Cleveland disliked this.
"With the exception of Cleveland.." LOL
The red meat convo in the car scene! 😆 gets me everytime!
Why are you telling me this?
@@abehambinowell you eat a lot of red meat
“Why are you telling me this? “ LOL
"Well. You eat alot of red meat."
0:40 totally forgot the dude from Fast times at Ridgemont High was in this lol
With the exception of Cleveland LOL
The time of the best movies!
"We wait!"
-........Ok!" LOL
I love Eddy man since I was a kid all 3 bev hill cops, coming to America, nutty professor all the best movies of all time
1 of my favorite movies classic
One of the best
is that your Porsche outside??!!
"No, sir, that's not my Porsche. I don't know who's it is."
Porsche Cayenne
Looks like a GTA special cargo warehouse
Times sure do change, no camera tricks, green screen, movie sets, nada, real sets, real backgrounds, real stunts.
*_”Now! NOW!”_*
Love this movie & Love Eddie
What a beautiful and phenomenal movie scene! Eddie Murphy is very talented and phenomenally talented prior to what he knows in his everyday life.
“With the exception of Cleveland.....” 😂😂😂
So what do we do now? We wait... OK!
1:36 The sum up of all people using the internet.
I love Judge Reinhold lol
Eddie Murphy was hoodoo much in this film.i ain't never laughed so hard even after all these years!! As for Cleveland, can't answer that😍
I can only imagine how pissed or amused the theatre in Cleveland was when they heard that
eddie back then!!!!
I love how they make these movies funny without trying 😂😂🤣who tf wants to know that type of fact
'This guy gave me a match for Christ sakes' 😂😂😂
*Gulp*
i love eddie murphy
i loved this film.
1:35 = The Best Part! LOLZ
Great script and humour
Rosewoods monotone voice 😂😂😂
Good old times
Poor Cleveland. It never recovered from this joke.
Reminds me of Better Call Saul when Ermantraut checks out a warehouse.
What's funny about that is Mike is in this movie as well. Gotta love how movies and tv shows repeat themselves!
"Is that your Porsche outside?"
You gave him a match??
With the exception of Cleveland...
Great series
What’s wrong with Cleveland I ain’t from the USA 😂
You... Gave him a match?
Cleveland catching strays 💀🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now with the exception of Cleveland and the Capitol Building! 😂
The supervisor threw him right under the truck with that look..Why u didnt ask him for id when he was walking around!!
Cleveland just can't catch a break! LOL
This Guy gave me a Match for Christ Sake!!! 🔥🚬 YOU gave him a match !?....Classic
IS THIS THE MAN!!!!
I know every phrase in this masterpiece
I felt sorry for the guy that said "That's not my Porsche "
Eddy is a classic lol
1:57 - 2:27 I miss this old outro so much
The bond between Taggart and Rosewood is hilarious
Eddie you've grown a mustache
Leslie stovall classic
Peach fuzz.
It has been a year
When Eddie yells at the security guard to go get his supervisor, why didn't he just call on the radio he had on his belt near his butt? He should be fired.
My fiancee is dying to know what the hell is wrong with Cleveland!
+The Lawn Gnome don't know man it's just funny sometimes when people mention city names
Makes him sound like he knows what he's talking about.
Being from cleveland its rough out here been forever since before i was born with that being said our security is worse than theirs and everywhere around the nation hope that helped
He was talking about a warehouse in Cleveland. Just in case you and your fiancee are still together a year later. ^_^
She had to ask? I just hope you didn't marry her.
What makes you think I have any interest in that at all?
A great! Movie 🎥
0:46 The guy on the left was also in Groundhog Day, Mrs. Doubtfire, and The Rocketeer.
This js a scene that speaks too much Truth.
0:00 wow he turned into his older self when he smiled
I hate to see what Cleveland was like after this
God this movie is just tops lol. 🤣🤣🤣
Lol! The red meat part was funny as well!
With the exception of Cleveland 😂😂🤣
I was born 18 years later the coming out of this movie...
