Great review on the Snowdon tracks! I've been following your videos about Snowdon, as my friends and I are planning to hike it in the third week of December, which is winter. Between the Llanberis and Pyg tracks, which one offers better scenery during this season? Which is safer? Also, regarding safety, are crampons a necessity for hiking either of these routes?

Hi loving finding out about routes up and over Snowdonia. I’m travelling to Caernarfon in a couple of weeks and would love to hike the Llanberis path up and Ranger path down.
Is it easy to navigate ?
I don’t suppose by any chance you’d have a gpx file of the route I could use and transfer onto my Garmin ?

I don't have a gpx file for the circular route, however I found it very easy to follow. The Llanberis Path is very popular and very hard to get lost on. Coming down from the summit, just take the path off the Llanberis Path over the railway line onto the Ranger Path and descend until you see the marker post, the path from here is gravel and easy to follow back into the town. It's a really good circular route, much better than going up and down the Llanberis Path.

The path that leads from the Ranger Path to the town of Llanberis is located a couple of hundred metres up from the top of the Zig Zag section on the Ranger Path. You can just make out the start of the path on What3Words (just switch to satelite view) - what3words.com/stands.stunts.voltages it's signposted and the path was recently relaid with gravel so it's not as muddy as it was years ago.

@thebaldscrambler yeah mate cheers. Google maps is pretty good there is a faint line that I've tracked and is the route you've put up in the video. Broken ankle at the mo so can't do anything, but wife's said she will do it and her having never done a mountain except for skiing I can't wait to get her up. Will have dogs pulling us so should be easy for her
