Always wondered how it could be done? Now I know, thanks to another one of your ace tutorials. Thank you.
Got the joy of the Vanos Solenoids to swap over at the weekend 😢 so throwing a new thermostat (gone for a 90 deg one) whilst it’s in bits……. Wish me luck 😂

Thank god for this video, my E60 M5 has got a starter problem. I was able to get the car started with this method and get it home. I guess it’s off to the garage for a new starter motor.

@@MTechGuy yes big job, garage have said at least 6 hours Labour. But the starter motor is 18 years old so I can’t really complain.

My car is finally going in on Wednesday to get the starter motor replaced. BMW wanted £965 for a starter motor I managed to get the Valeo starter motor from Germany for £180. Will update later as to how much it cost in labour charges.

The garage charged me 6 hours labour to change the starter motor, which I think is very reasonable for the amount of work which is involved in changing the starter motor.

I'm on 129k miles. Bendix drive started playing up a few hundred miles ago. Had this on my e36 325td back in the day, not as easy to get the starter out on this one as it is on the e36 to DIY the springs in the bendix. 🤣

The E36 would have been a walk in the park compared to these cars!

Not the early E60 M5’s. Mines a 2005, they come with a diamond key

Depends how often the car is driven, and if any leaks have been identified with the SMG. To be honest most of these cars are getting on a bit now, it would be worth checking. There’s a bit of a process to it, I plan to put out a video soon!
