You have just witnessed the most talented vocalist known to mankind in my opinion. Dimash is proudly from Kazakhstan! Just go to his official RUclips channel Dimash Qudaibergen and watch from this point forward which was his FIRST performance of the song "SOS" on the Chinese show "Singer" from 2017 where he was a contestant. He has 10 more performances from this show available to watch! Watch 2nd, 3rd and so on. He was 22 years old then. He is now 27 and has done so many things since. He is a world renowned vocalist. You cannot call Dimash just a singer. He has an 8 octive range. You will see. Dimash has been known to sing in 14 different languages. Watch everything he has done. So, this song that Dimash just sang was the very first song, on the very first night of the Singer competition. The Chinese audience was asked to give this foreigner from Kazakhstan a warm welcome. If you're ever having a bad day, just imagine what it felt like to be the person to go on and sing after this, haha!! He is a humble, funny, beautiful human being, Dimash. You will only begin to get an idea of the scope and range of what he can do after watching about 10 songs. Pick randomly, if you will, you can't really go wrong! Every single one will shock the hell out of you, I promise.

You have barely even begun to scratch the surface of Dimash's talent and ability. He has continued to hone his skills and to fine-tune and perfect his already unbelievable abilities even more. There does not seem to be a limit to what he can achieve vocally. I am excited to follow his journey. Dimash will possibly go down in history as the greatest vocal talent known to man. I cannot think of anyone, past or present, capable of doing what Dimash is capable of. I am still waiting on someone to name a single individual even remotely close to Dimash's mastery.
If you want to follow Dimash's career progression over the last five years, here is a song list I usually recommend in semi-chronological order: S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse), either the Slavic Bazaar or the 2017 "I Am A Singer" version. His covers from the same competition of Lara Fabian's "Adagio," Eric Carmen's 1975 "All by Myself" (repopularized by Celine Deion), and Freddie Mercury's "The Show Must Go On." Dimash also recently released "Ikanaide,'' performed during the 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival live stream, which is absolutely incredible. He sings in nearly flawless Japanese.
Avoid any performance from "The World's Best." The show in L.A. was utterly disgraceful. The production team edited and cut all of Dimash's performances down to 2 minutes and cut out his Kazakh song for no reason.

Being a fan of the Maneskin I'm on another planet ( I love rock music ). But I've been following Dimash for 3 years and I can say he's a class on his own. Perfect pitch, perfect tecnique, perfect everything. An you're right, he deserves more success, that's why his Dears ( that's how he calls his fans ) do whatever they can to spread his talent all over the world. Its the largest viewed singing competition in the world. China's annual professional singer competition I Am Singer vying for the title of China's Singer of the Year. Dimash was both the youngest (21/22 yo) competitor ever and first non-Chinese special invitee (Kazahkstan). He was virtually unknown in China until he OPENED the annual show with this performance of SOS after an intro to the crowd, judges and fellow competitors listing his accomplishments up to that time. He became an overnight sensation requiring bodyguards the remainder of the competition. Suggest u resist the urge for now of reviewing his more recent performances and react next to Sinful Passion 2018. I promise that u wont regret it. Buzzkill...note towards the end of this performance he has 3 belts. Note how long hebsustains the last breath before the 3rd belt continues thru multiple riffs/runs. Dimash is truly amazing. This was in 2017 when he was 22. Now he is much more better coming to 28 this may. For me there is no other singer as dimash. U can cont with songs like stranger, sinful passion, adagio, olympico, ikanaide, love is like a dream, your love, know, love of tired swan. He can sing more than 10 languages. Who bother of language when the vocal is this amazing.

Quick run down. This performance was 2017 and he turns 28 this month. He has been in formal music training and education since age 5 when it was discovered he had perfect pitch. He has never stopped training. He still trains 3 hrs daily. He sings 7 octaves in 15 languages and plays 8 instruments. He has multiple degrees in music and is working on his PHD. He says he sings neo-classical. He also writes and sings, pop, opera, and even raps. He sings some native Kazakh songs which is his homeland. Beautiful music. He played a sold out concert in NY in 2019 to 19,000 and fans came from 68 countries to see him! No other artist could do that. Then covid hit. His 1st album went platinum is 37 seconds. Triple platinum in under an hr. He has a huge worldwide fanbase of over 10 million and growing. He refers to his fans as his Dears. He says we are as dear to him as family (which is huge for Dimash) and that we are an extension of his soul. He loves Michael Jackson and you will hear the influence is some of his pop stuff. He wrote a song called GIVE ME YOUR LOVE as an homage to MJ if you want to check that out youll see a completely different side of Dimash. He is an introvert believe it or not, youll see it in interviews. You could not hope to meet a more humble, loving, kind and respectful human. He is deeply loved. Having watched Dimash performances for the past five years, I'm pretty sure he would be a great lead singer in a symphonic metal band. To date Dimash has handled every genre from opera to rap---and has done it all brilliantly. "SOS" is just the tip of a very large iceberg, as you will see if you choose to investigate further. There is vocally no one else on earth like this guy.
As for him not being widely known in the West, Dimash and his handlers are quite protective of his creativity, and being creative isn't always appreciated by those in charge of the western music industry who would just as soon turn Dimash into another Michael Jackson. Make no mistake about, Dimash handles MJ type songs masterfully but he is so much more than that. A skilled opera singer, an exceptional rapper and someone who loves to mix the musical sounds from the world over into many of his unique vocal presentations. Once he is guaranteed that he will be allowed to do that for an American music label, I imagine he will participate. In the meantime, he doesn't really need the West. He performs to sold out arenas in so many other places and even performed in front of an outdoor crowd of 150,000 in his home country of Kazakhstan.

@@tatianaresende2945 I am unable to get any direct confirmation from Dimash himself, but according to Wikipedia, on September 16, 2017, the Gakku festival launched in Almaty. First headliner was Dimash Kudaibergen. The festival was live and lasted 6 hours. 150.000 people attended.
There may have been that many in China as well. But my original statement was essentially correct.

I think those cultural festivals where they have amazing synchronized dance performances from literally thousands of dancers draw huge crowds every time. That one video of the Asian Cultural Festival (I think from 2019 or 2020) leaves me breathless every time.

The way I found to celebrate the majesty of Dimash's talent was to have written the following about him: If I were to rule the world, I would immediately add, to the universal declaration of human rights, another article (they would become 31) whose wording would next "All human beings have the right, at least once in their lives, to hear Dimash sing". I am a Professor and I believe that I have a special profession that allows me to transform the human heart and consequently the human society. I work with young people and young people need to have good references. I had been looking for someone for a long time, of whom I could speak to the young people I work with, as a good reference. That person should be young, a super talent, a super mega star in the art world and above all, because he is the most important, a good human person. I searched and never found anyone with these characteristics. Until, finally, I found this person and that person is Dimash. I had the opportunity to say this to Dimash, personally, when I was with him in Latvia where I went, coming from Portugal (there are 8000 km round trip), on the 7th of March 2020. I'm always happy when someone new discovers Dimash because I think everyone should hear his amazing voice. I have listened to him every day for the past four years and never tire of hearing the same performances over and over. I think you would REALLY enjoy "Stranger", which he performed last year. He was 22 in the SOS video and he'll be 28 in a couple of weeks.
Great reaction! You're right, he was about 22 at the time of this song and has been studying singing since he was 5 years old! And he is working on becoming more widely known, but he wants to stay independent so that he can do the songs and styles that he wants to do. Don't give up singing. Dimash would never want people to do that! If you ever see one of his concerts (I have unfortunately only seen them online so far) you will see that he always gets his fans to sing parts of some songs for him and it makes him so happy to hear them even though I'm sure many are off key! Dimash always says there is a place for all singers and there are many that he himself looks up to.
You've just begun the journey of Dimash. He made his 'debut' in 2017. This is a competition on the Chinese talent show 'I Am Singer' in 2017. Watch ALL of his 2017 performances before you venture out. He was competing against established singers and was a 'wild card' whom few had heard of. He took 2nd place since a 'foreigner' obviously couldn't win against established Chinese singers. He's been singing since age 5, has multiple degrees in music and both parents are opera stars. His Dad was the guy in the audience with his hand partially covering his face.
Please, listen to ALL of the 2017 performances as they are to me some of the best. He sings, Opera 2, Show Must Go On, Adagio, etc. Later you might like to listen to Olympico and everything else.
His highest note to date is a D8 in 'Unforgettable Day' (Gakku) written when he was 19 and his bass register is demonstrated in a recent song called 'Stranger'.

Dimash is a rare diamond in a sea of coal. Trained very hard since he was 5, he has an army of fans called "Dears" they will give you a run down of his songs. Best done in order, he was a wild card in his competition, he wasn't expected too last two weeks. Technically he should have won it but he came in 2nd, (politics what can you say). He sings in 12 languages, speaks 4, is learning as he goes. He is only 22 here, he can't speak or understand English at this point. He is from Kazakhstan, singing to a Chinese audience in French, which he doesn't speak or understand, he was only 22 and was first on.
But he has the most amazing voice ever. I won't spoil it for you. But just to say the best vocal coaches say he has the best voice in all ranges. He has now 7.7 octave range which is unheard off. But as you can hear here, this is only the start of the journey.
I hope you enjoy it, he can do what others cannot. Plus he is very humble in his approach to his music.
This was a very enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week.
At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition.
This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian.
First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China.
As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang "Unforgettable Day," a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh and in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition.
Here is the order of Dimash's performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11.

He started vocal lessons at 5 years old. Since he trained through puberty he was able to keep his high range and has worked a lot on his lower range. The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, will turned 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to finish his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. I discovered Dimash about a year ago, after ignoring him in my RUclips recommendations for more than a year. I figured he was just the latest pop "sensation," and I generally do not listen to that genre of music. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have since watched hours upon hours of reactions to his various performances. I mostly watch reactions from professional vocal coaches, many with backgrounds in Opera, vocal students, professional singers, and music producers. I just came across your channel, and like you, I am absolutely amazed by his incredible talent, ability, vocal range and dynamics, delivery, and stage presence.
Here is some information about Dimash. Dimash is from Kazakhstan, but more specifically, he is a native Kazakh. Kazakhs are a separate indigenous people from regular Kazakhstanis. They are the original Nomad tribes from the steppes; there are about 10 million Kazakhs in Kazakhstan who no longer live as nomads and about 1.4 million in China; mostly in Xinjiang, where many nomadic groups remain. Small numbers also exist in Uzbekistan, Russia, and Mongolia. Dimash is a direct descendant and lives traditionally with his extended family. It is custom that the firstborn son of a family is given to a set of grandparents to be raised for at least 10 years. Dimash was entrusted to his paternal grandparents, and they raised him and instilled confidence in him. They raised him to believe that God had a great plan for him, and he should pursue it and dedicate himself to that plan with his entire being.
When Dimash was five years old, he pointed out to his grandparents that the piano was out of tune, and they immediately realized what that plan was. They decided to enroll him in the best children's music school, and thanks to Dimash's parents' relative fame, he was accepted. There he took piano lessons, started singing, and was found to have perfect pitch. His family was determined to afford him every opportunity; there was no room for slack, and Dimash's personality and character enabled him to dedicate himself entirely to his craft. We are now enjoying the fruits of that labor.
Dimash is university-educated with degrees in classical/Opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical master's class and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition; his thesis was titled: "Personal Image of Traditional Music." He graduated with Honors, achieving a perfect score of 100%. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. as he wants to teach music after his singing career.
Dimash has diligently honed his craft and developed his God-given gift for more than 20 years now, and it shows. I read somewhere that Dimash swims several hours every day to increase his lung capacity. It's not just raw natural talent but tremendous work, dedication, and discipline to achieve this level of performance. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a much-loved national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He was even offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path, and he has been very successful thus far.
He has performed songs in 15 languages; Kazakh, Russian, English, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Serbian, Turkish, Sicilian, Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Arabic, and Japanese. Besides his native Kazakh tongue, he speaks fluent Russian as it is still an official language in most former Soviet Republics. Dimash is getting pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin, which he says is a challenging language to learn. Dimash plays six instruments; the piano, dombra, guitar, xylophone, cello, and drums. He usually performs for more than two hours during his live concerts and treats his audience to an eclectic mix of styles.
According to some analysts, his range is over 7 octaves (A1-D8), spanning across all four registers. As many probably know, the four registers, from lowest to highest, are vocal fry (pulse), modal voice, falsetto, and flageolet (whistle tone), and Dimash seems to effortlessly navigate between them, often within a single breath and without a break in between. Dimash has even hit a D8 for ~5 seconds with vibrato, the highest note ever performed during any live performance. He sings in multiple musical genres. His primary genre is classical crossover, but he also sings classical music (bel canto), pop, and world music. He uses musical elements, vocal styles, and techniques of many other genres, including jazz, rock (e.g., screams), RnB, musical theater, even rap, and Tribal and Turkic melismas, which are technically very distinctive and very difficult to master. I saw one video where he hits a D8--that's one note off the full scale piano, I think. I thought your reaction was spot on: astonishment, then wondering why he isn't a "bigger" performer, and finally musing that every other vocalist should just give up, LOL. I sort of came around to realizing that Dimash is actually human, but he does manage to straddle all of those styles and ranges with full command, so maybe we all have higher limits than we thought. One of the 5 most difficult songs in French language. It was recorded by Daniel Balavoine in 1979 or so and Grégory Lemarchal won of the French reality singing competition Star Academy 2004 with this song.
