In 1950, I drove Irene to the top, overlooking New Haven, on a beautiful starlit night, and proposed marriage. We would have been married 70 years. The park was built by Roosevelt's Work Projects of America. My dad got 13 dollars a week (hard labor) and people called it charity. I loved New Haven but we moved out a few years later. Brings back memories.

That's nice.❤ my parents used to go there in the 50s..my great Grandfather carved the statue on the memorial. He came over from Italy in the early 1900s..so many memories. 😊

Loved East Rock Park. Went there over the weekend. The war memorial was great to see.

I was there a lot growing up. In fact I just put up a video asking if it still exist after 60 years...I have a home video from 1962 up.
