@@FatterHomer that's the reason why the phone gets really hot even when not using it. It's a worldwide notice that the new snapdragon had overheating problems as well as the tremendous consumption of battery... These things in a phone such as the s22, make just the battery dies in a second.
Many people don’t view the S22 Ultra as being $200 more than the S22 Plus but as $400 more than the regular S22. For that reason I think the S22 Plus will be the popular one.
I just went from a s20 ultra to the s22 ultra and it really is a good jump and tbh I wasn't ready to upgrade but a good deal came my way I couldn't pass up. It really is an amazing phone. My only real complaint is no headphone jack but that goes for pretty much all phones now a days
I feel like the plus is a bit in an awkward position. It's 200 dollars more, whilst realistically having zero extra features over the regular S22 except physical size and battery capacity. On top of that, it's now also in a different price class of atleast 1000 dollars. And for that price, I also think the s22 lacks some features such as proper 1/10-120 LTPO, 1440p, ... And on top of THAT, it's pretty close in price to the s22 ultra which has alot more features. Infact, pre-order deals in my area made the much higher specced ultra just 50 dollars more expensive than the s22+ for over a month. I think people either went all-in or small
@@Gamer-vs3xl Agreed but i completely understand certain people want the design of the s22/s22+ or just don´t need the ultra features whilst prefering a bigger screen and/or battery
The battery alone would be the deciding factor if I were to get one of these phones. Gotta think about years down the road since the phones are getting so good and won't require a lot of switching. I've had my S10 since launch and it still works great but the battery life is down from when I first got it, and it's understandable.
Got the S22 last week. I love the size. I agree that paying +200 just for the bigger screen and battery is too much. In that case i would probably go pixel 6 pro or ultra. I love the flat screen, finally easy to get a good screen protector for like 10$. Good luck with that on the S22 Ultra. As for the S22 here are my observations on the cameras: Main is good, not the best I've seen but good enough. It's too wide at 23mm, so if you get too close to get some bokeh, faces are distorted. Ultrawide has good distortion correction, but no AF. Quality is ok, but would expect more. The star is definitely the 3x tele. Which is surprising as it's a tiny sensor. But clearly Sammy does some Ai trickery. 3x shots are pretty good and 10x are actually ok and usable. It seems Ai is painting in missing details in different zoom ranges and does a pretty good job. Oppo Find x5 has the better ultrawide, Pixel 6 Pro has a better zoom camera and even the main. The only other "small" phone with good specs is the iPhone 13 Pro...costs way more and zoom/ultrawide are pretty much an afterthought.
I like the regular S22. Plenty big enough. Might be the most perfect phone ever. I love mine. had it over 2 weeks now. Best android phone on the market imo. Love it. Not super great battery life, but enough for my day. I would quit iPhone for this phone. it's faster than my 13 Pro. The smaller S22 is exactly the same size as the the 13 Pro/non pro btw.
@ubeser Out of the box its hot. Once tuned to your habits its gets better. One thing does not change heat when gaming, you need to install samsung game drivers and game plugins and turn on game booster plus. That stops overheating when gaming (I have s22 snapdragon). Its really good with battery during games
Galaxy S23: 6.1", 4000mah battery, 1440p display, 12mp front facing camera, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 5 years of software updates at $899. S23 series will be Samsung's best phones past, present and future.
Samsung should have at least bumped up the plus to a quad HD panel with more pixels to justify the higher price tag. I’m just about sure the s22 and s22 plus is most popular among regular consumers but reviewers are always going to spotlight the most expensive product.
I feel like it's a problem for the consumer, definitely. I have the S20+, the last QHD Plus model they made and I just can't bring myself to prefer an HD phone that's supposed to replace a QHD+ phone. That, and no Micro SD slot so even if Samsung got me to pay their outrageous price for a 1TB equipped phone, I still can't add any more storage to it, or have it be removable, which is such a loss for so many people, but not the majority. Samsung clearly want to maximize their profits and have most people buy the Ultra. Instead of having an entire lineup of great options, they subtly paired back the rest and want us to buy the clear winner. When before, every S series phone was a winner.
Quad HD is not a feature for me when I'm buying a phone. It doesn't tell any difference at all. For example, I have the Oppo Find X2 Pro with WQHD screen and Vivo X60 Pro with FHD screen but I have never seen any quantity difference between them. I understand that QHD on a smartphone is needless and we pay for it for nothing
Quad hd is not necessary on such a small screen. You won’t notice big differences. I’ve used all the of them and they are all plenty sharp. Don’t give that resolution more attention than it deserves.
I went with the base S22 because it's just about the same size as the S9 that I traded in and that phone was the perfect size phone for me. The S22 is actually the largest size cellphone I've owned so I don't consider it a small phone.
Considering long-term use and battery degradation, I would say picking S22+ over the S22 is also a reasonable choice. If you plan to switch your phone every year or so then I think you get more value out of the S22.
Maybe they have small difference on battery capacity by number (800mAh) but it will noticable considering how great the s22 series on power consumption
One thing homie ! I think you should change your end of sentence voice, because you usually talk normally while speaking the the first and middle part of a sentence but every end of a sentence or the last word of the sentence is reaaaaally extended and it makes somehow the overall video not that pleasing to listen to, the video and information we get from the video is amazing and packed with everything though, just a masterpiece !
Hey very much appreciate the constructive feedback - I only started talking in front of the camera a couple months ago so your comment is super helpful, thanks!!
I will go for the s22 because it just feels really nice to hold in the hand compact portable. It looks beautiful and although it's a small phone but really powerful.
Great comparison video but you're missing out on the charging speed. S22 can only charge at 25W but the S22+ can go up to 45W. I'm definitely going for the S22+.
For someone who has tiny hands and arthritis I chose the S22. I felt like maybe I was comprising just a little for battery, not much difference between the difference to pay $200 more regardless. The camera specs was important and the ultra looked tempting just for the zoom capacities and 108 MP however I can't handle a phone that size. Lol
Man, my hands are considered pretty big, and yet I have problems with the size of my s22+, let alone anything bigger, why someone would go for the Ultra which is even larger is beyond me. The sizes are objectively getting out of hand, it's becoming ridiculous at this point.
It's gotten kinda ridiculous honestly. They're mobile "phones". I have the base s21 because I prefer ease of use for texting and using it as a phone with one hand over having a big ass screen that needs 2 hands to perform basic tasks. I'd be willing to pay more to get better battery life and the nicer cameras in the smaller base model of the phone tho. They kinda screw us people that want a normal sized phone with the better features.
@@akashkumardash6918 yah...i was think about it.but actually now im using huawei p30 pro.. When i switch to s22+ surely i will missd the telephoto cam and the out standing battery life in p30 pro
I rather choose s22 plus than ultra if it has 5000 mah battery maybe don't change the size of 6.7in diaplay just to make it 5000 mah battery. Bcoz the design of flat screen is way durable than curve display.
I went for the “cream” colored S22 plus. Ended up trading my S21 plus for this and got $800.00 off so at the end of the day I only paid $200.00 for my new phone. I love the shape and overall design of the S22 plus and having twice the storage is amazing. Im glad I did the offer.
Great comparison. Well thought out and realistic points that people will actually care about. My only criticism: have you noticed that you end most of your sentences with the same upward inflection? I noticed about halfway through the video and it became kinda fatiguing to listen to
From what I've been seeing, unless you are buying the ultra version. The models from last year have been better at least with battery life. I have the base s21 and I have no motivation to upgrade to either of the two of these. Not that Samsung expects you to, but I can't for the life of me understand why they would downgrade the battery on the base model other than to make the ultra model seem better. I guess that's just the way the market works though.
I'm getting my S22 in the mail tomorrow. And watching all these reviews I'm discovering that the last 4 or so years of 50 - 200$ phones has left me *very* out of touch w/ the standards of the premium market. I know *im* gonna be happy with it
Update: I've had it since the day after I posted this comment and let me tell u, aside from the tiktok issues this phone is amazing! I'm definitely going to be happy using it for the next 2 or so years
@@thefool4989 The battery is great. It lasts for 10+ hrs of continuous youtube playing on a single charge (ran a test once). It charges adequately fast. I noticed during normal use that it overheats up to worrying temperatures. Not during charging though but more likely due to core running apps in the background. About the phone in general: 1- I still cant get over the odd width of S22 compared to the PERFECT palm fit of my old S8. The perfect dimensions in my opinion would be an S22 length, S22 depth, S8 width. 2- Extremely relieved and happy for dropping the overflow (curved) screen of S8 which was a nightmare everytime I reach for it. Flat screens are the best. 3- Not too crazy about the raised camera bezel. A flat back would be more elegant (in my opinion). 4- Scratch prone screen! The S8 screen is more scratch resilient. 5- Perfect performance! No freezing. No holdups. Excellent colours, contrast and brightness. Still keeping my fingers crossed for not developing red bands (burnouts) across the screen like my S8 did after few months from brand new. 6- Solid platform (like S8) for wireless connections. 7- Cant "spy" on my wife because she uses iPhone, but she has no problems "spying" on me! :) Everytime I grab her iPhone I feel like I'm all thumbs. It shows how perfect, intuitive, and user friendly Samsung Android is.
I ruled out the Ultra immediately, as I hate the design. That think looks heavy and super bulky. There aren't many differences between the S22 and S22 Plus, but screen size and battery are two of the most important features in a phone for me, so the Plus was an easy decision. I've just switched from an S10 Plus, which is still a pretty great phone. In many ways the S22 Plus mostly just feels like an improved, refined revision of that, which is fine by me.
@@waynegroleau3946 Same here, I held on to my S10+ too. Its too good a phone to trade in for peanuts, especially because mine is still in flawless condition. I'll occasionally use it for watching RUclips around the house I guess, and maybe end up giving it to someone who needs a phone.
Got S22 128G (white) last week. Loving it overall. The phone does feel quite small in hand despite having the 6.1” display though, enough that it had me wondering if I should upgrade to S22+ or not.

If you want something with a longer battery life go with the S22+ That's my only complaint so far, the battery life. Other than that I really like the upgrade from my old S9+.
@@Jorge-125 Thank you for taken the time to answer! Really good to know the battery isn’t that great. Enjoy your new phone, I’m still thinking about the choices,
Just wanted to say....go for the s22 +. WHY, because of the bigger battery. You should not really be charging your phone to 100% every single day. If you set the device to only charge to 85%...then the s22+..will last you all day. Also,,,turn off 5G if you do not need it. Will save you 15% battery usage.
I was thinking about buying the 22 ULTRA b/c I like the big screen, but I changed my mind after I went to Bestbuy and handled it physically - bad ergonomics. The corners are too sharp for my taste. So now it's between the 22+ and the Pixel 7. I will wait see an objective review comparing the two.
this is 2023 and both of them are available at the same price point. I personally like smaller phones so the s22 wins there, but on the other hand, i am planning to use this for atleast 3 years and considering the battery degradation, i feel that s22+ would be better. still cant decide between the two
I've been using my S7 for 6 years now and I can use an upgrade this year. as you said in this video, it's a hard choice to make but I'm leaning towards the S22.
Great video - nice presentation, arguments, and opinion! I have one question: where did you find those wallpapers? They look great! Keep up the great work!
Have an S10.... upgrading later this week to an S22. Prefer the smaller size personally. I agree if I wanted larger I would just upgrade from the plus to the ultra.
What I noticed as major differences when I compared the two for a month. 1. S22 has sharper video quality and better color than the s22+ 2. The s22+ tends to stutter every so often during videos or using camera. 3. Battery life is nearly identical between the two. I much prefer the base s22.
Thank you for commenting this for others to see, and to help me have peace of mind. Everyone is hyping up the S22+ and the Ultra, and it's obvious why, it's the more expensive one. AT&T, I tried to order the plus for my device trade-in choice, but they said it has a 30-60 day wait, and my A71 5G has been acting up, so I was like "Well, I had an S7, S8, S9, never a plus model, so I'm sure it'll be fine getting the base model again." I was seeing a ton of people tearing it down, I got worried. My phone came in, I used it for 48 hours, then a S22+ showed up to my door and they were like "oops, our mistake, the system didn't override the order with the change of phone model." (yet you guys told me it was out of stock and kept pushing me to pick another model?....okay.) They told me "Well, you've already opened the S22, so if you want to keep the S22+ INSTEAD, you need to factory reset it and we will keep the $99 you paid for it as a restocking fee, for it being open-box/used, and then you'll ALSO need to pay 15% of the price of the S22+ to keep it. Just send back whichever one you don't want to keep." Already got charged for both and was told they'll refund me for the S22+ when they get it back... I decided I didn't wanna pay MORE and lose $100 for THEIR mistake and then have to pay like $200 (so $300 total), so I was like "eh I'll keep the S22 and send the + back so I can get my money back. The battery is weaker than the S22+ (the ONLY reason I tried to get the + model because my current phone I had has the SAME battery size as the plus), but I'll be okay hopefully..." I kept worrying about regretting it and that I'd hate the base S22 because so many RUclipsrs are saying "GET THE PLUS THE BATTERY IS WAAAAY BETTER OMG YOU'LL REGRET GETTING THE S22 THE BATTERY DIES SO FAST, THE S22+ LASTS SO LONG" but when I've looked in some comments I've seen multiple people saying "The plus is VERY close in the amount of time it lasts....I tested both and I got maybe 1-2 hours more on the plus." I thought it'd be significant like 5-6 more hours than the S22. 1-2 hours? I don't feel like that's worth me having to pay MORE money and buy ANOTHER phone case and screen protector and all that, for only a LITTLE BIT more battery life. I'll just get a new portable battery for when I'm out of the house all day/traveling and can't charge it by outlet a lot.
I would go with the S22 almost perfect sized phone! I would remove the whole punch, with an under the display camera and also the back camera bump, maybe a bit thicker to reach those cameras with a bigger battery. Oh and with stock android. So I wish the Pixel would look like this! 🙂
I just made the switch after 12 years of iPhone. Why does my all videos, RUclips, Netflix, hulu and any streaming app have a really bad frame rate drop with jittery playback?
I think that Samsung are going a bit mad with these numbers and names, why not just release phones based on number S22 S23 S24 instead of plus and minus and ultra and edge and wtf else lol
Really liked your comparison overall and I like how calm and clear you are. However, as others have mentioned, the way you end your scentences, almlst making them sound like questions...? Is a bit distracting. Now obviously we all talk the way we talk, and there's nothing objectively wrong with the way you speak. From a narrative point of view though it's a smidge distracting.

@@FatterHomer that's the reason why the phone gets really hot even when not using it. It's a worldwide notice that the new snapdragon had overheating problems as well as the tremendous consumption of battery... These things in a phone such as the s22, make just the battery dies in a second.
S22+ for me is an ideal everyday carry. I test drove the Ultra and the form factor is just not very comfortable for my use.
how's the battery ?
It's way to big in my opinion ultra
Many people don’t view the S22 Ultra as being $200 more than the S22 Plus but as $400 more than the regular S22. For that reason I think the S22 Plus will be the popular one.
I want to get the s22 ultra personally because of the ultra features ( camera, screen resolution and s pen)
@@vyvynylification I say just get the s22 or s22 ultra and skip the plus if you are looking for the best value.

Went with the S22 because of its size. Feels very comfortable for me and am happy with my choice.
It's nice and feels light.
Hows the battery performance?

@@MrIgedebayu 13pro last longer.
I've kinda grown tired of the curved screen on my S10+ which is why I went with the S22+ instead of Ultra
@@Shoeboxcat7 I regret trading my regular S20 for the S22 Ultra for many of those reasons you listed.
@@Catalanskrr Good point
I went with the base S22 because it's just about the same size as the S9 that I traded in and that phone was the perfect size phone for me. The S22 is actually the largest size cellphone I've owned so I don't consider it a small phone.
How was your experience with the battery life? Im considering purchasing it
How’s the battery life?
I purchased the S22+ since the slightly larger display and increased battery capacity are important to me.
I have seen both in person today and I thought the plus would be too big, but it actually wasn't. I thought it was a perfect size.
Great comparison video but you're missing out on the charging speed. S22 can only charge at 25W but the S22+ can go up to 45W. I'm definitely going for the S22+.
But they all charge to full battery in exactly the same time 😄
1 hour 3 min
For someone who has tiny hands and arthritis I chose the S22. I felt like maybe I was comprising just a little for battery, not much difference between the difference to pay $200 more regardless. The camera specs was important and the ultra looked tempting just for the zoom capacities and 108 MP however I can't handle a phone that size. Lol
Man, my hands are considered pretty big, and yet I have problems with the size of my s22+, let alone anything bigger, why someone would go for the Ultra which is even larger is beyond me. The sizes are objectively getting out of hand, it's becoming ridiculous at this point.
I agree 100% with you! I consume most of my videos etc. on a tablet rather than my phone or if I'm at home I watch on my big screen TV! LOL!

The battery is great. It lasts for 10+ hrs of continuous youtube playing on a single charge (ran a test once). It charges adequately fast. I noticed during normal use that it overheats up to worrying temperatures. Not during charging though but more likely due to core running apps in the background.
About the phone in general:
1- I still cant get over the odd width of S22 compared to the PERFECT palm fit of my old S8.
I bought the S22 because of it's size & my hand size! I also had an S10+ & loved it, but didn't trade it in as they wouldn't give me enough for trade!
@@waynegroleau3946 Same here, I held on to my S10+ too. Its too good a phone to trade in for peanuts, especially because mine is still in flawless condition. I'll occasionally use it for watching RUclips around the house I guess, and maybe end up giving it to someone who needs a phone.
My reason for buying the S22 instead of the plus is that I wanted a small phone! I did enjoy my S10+, but was ready for a small phone!

What I noticed as major differences when I compared the two for a month. 1. S22 has sharper video quality and better color than the s22+ 2. The s22+ tends to stutter every so often during videos or using camera. 3. Battery life is nearly identical between the two. I much prefer the base s22.
so no stutter on s22? or maybe on different settings you will notice it? How much can you film before it goes flat / low battery?
Thank you for commenting this for others to see, and to help me have peace of mind. Everyone is hyping up the S22+ and the Ultra, and it's obvious why, it's the more expensive one.
AT&T, I tried to order the plus for my device trade-in choice, but they said it has a 30-60 day wait, and my A71 5G has been acting up, so I was like "Well, I had an S7, S8, S9, never a plus model, so I'm sure it'll be fine getting the base model again."
I was seeing a ton of people tearing it down, I got worried.
My phone came in, I used it for 48 hours, then a S22+ showed up to my door and they were like "oops, our mistake, the system didn't override the order with the change of phone model." (yet you guys told me it was out of stock and kept pushing me to pick another model?....okay.)
They told me "Well, you've already opened the S22, so if you want to keep the S22+ INSTEAD, you need to factory reset it and we will keep the $99 you paid for it as a restocking fee, for it being open-box/used, and then you'll ALSO need to pay 15% of the price of the S22+ to keep it.
The battery is weaker than the S22+ (the ONLY reason I tried to get the + model because my current phone I had has the SAME battery size as the plus), but I'll be okay hopefully..."
I kept worrying about regretting it and that I'd hate the base S22 because so many RUclipsrs are saying "GET THE PLUS THE BATTERY IS WAAAAY BETTER OMG YOU'LL REGRET GETTING THE S22 THE BATTERY DIES SO FAST, THE S22+ LASTS SO LONG" but when I've looked in some comments I've seen multiple people saying "The plus is VERY close in the amount of time it lasts....I tested both and I got maybe 1-2 hours more on the plus." I thought it'd be significant like 5-6 more hours than the S22. 1-2 hours? I don't feel like that's worth me having to pay MORE money and buy ANOTHER phone case and screen protector and all that, for only a LITTLE BIT more battery life. I'll just get a new portable battery for when I'm out of the house all day/traveling and can't charge it by outlet a lot.

However, as others have mentioned, the way you end your scentences, almlst making them sound like questions...? Is a bit distracting. Now obviously we all talk the way we talk, and there's nothing objectively wrong with the way you speak. From a narrative point of view though it's a smidge distracting.
Great review, thanks! I just went from an S10e to the S22+ and agree with your assessment, so far so good!
I have a s10e and thinking about upgrading to the 22+. Is it a big difference in size, I've got small hands 🙄
Is it a big difference in size ? I have s10e size perfect for me but battery life is the goal
I heard the S22+ oversharpens photos and isn't as good in low light. Did you find this at all?
Dope vid btw!!!🙌🏿
Thanks for this great video!
Glad it’s still providing value, thanks for watching!
I had the S22 ultra for 8 days and took it back 😒😒😒 it had absolutely terrrrrible battery life. That display was amazing though. Maybe next year I'll try Samsung again 🤷🏽♂️
And the s22+ battery performance?
You need to tweak your settings and let it get used to your usage. I came from apple and my s21 had the same issue but I tweaked settings and it got used to my usage, I'm a heavy user and it can go all day without a charge until i go to bed.
@@ImStinaG03 what settings did you tweak? I do plan on getting a Samsung again. Been on apple too long. Those new Samsung phones are so nice
@@megajeremy3000 I turned off alot of stuff running in the background, alot of useless notifications, my screen brightness. Alpt of little unnecessary things. I really googled alot and it helped. Up until 8 months ago I was a lifelong apple user as well and I'm so happy I switched.
Great video! You've helped a lot with my decision. Looking to buy one of these for less now that they're a year old.
I like the S22 plus because it's a lot bigger of a phone and when your watching you know RUclips and all that stuff a the better bigger screen always works better for me. I like bigger phones just the ultra is just too big for me. S22 plus is the perfect size
I'm leaning towards the S22+. Where did you get the background on the plus phone? I love it!
Just upgraded from the S9 to an S22 and love it. Had an amazing deal through work. Black S22, unlimited calls & texts, 250gb data and no upfront cost, all for only £24.29pm over 36 months.
How is the battery on it?
Where did you get those wallpapers?!?! so sick
I just traded my S10e that I have owned and used since 2015 for the S22. I chose the S22 over the S22+ and the S22 Ultra for the same reason that I chose the S10e over the larger, more feature packed options. There are a few minor feature differences between the S10e and S22 and the two phones are almost the same smaller size that I strongly prefer. I like the hand feel and pocket size. I was surprised by the charging cord and block changes, but I was happy to learn that my flat charging dock is still compatible. Thank you for your informative review.
i wish I had your connections. didn't the s10e come out in 2019? lol
@@alexisinboxes Sorry, that was a typo. 2019 is the correct year.
S22 speaker is better than the iPad mini….strangely good fantastic.
