Can’t beat a good gortex military parka, and trousers, will keep you dry and warm all the time. I need to get more myself. The Marpat is awesome. Tru-Spec is great stuff.

Well, you're still alive! How 'bout that! You know, you can use the blade side of the knife to scrape off ferro rod material. Once you get a little mound of material, then light that. Works like a magnesium starter.

I would of put up ridge line and tarp or poncho to stop rain.
Rain gear seems very good
Muti types to start fire is just smart, you need to carry lighter for times when you are soaking wet and temperature is very cold and your hands are shaking so bad you can't hardly hold anything. Time is essential for fire many times over.
Never ever leave home with out enough gear.

Hello Katan. Oh yeah - a weekend stay would be a massive for me. I wish to be able to spend at least 2 nights somewhere. I hate to always quickly pack everything and run home. We have a holiday on Sep 3, so just maybe I will go for another overnighter. Will do my best. Take care mate!

I always take some chicken and beef stock cubes with me and some dehydrated onion flakes this makes a grate quick cup of soup . It's great on a cold day for a pick me up .

I bet Daniel Boone would have used a little gunpowder on his fire to get it going. Carry a lighter, matches, and just twin soaked in parading. Don't rely on one option.
It's good to practice a skill but in the rain you can die of hypothermia if you can't get a fire going. I just ordered the true spec rain gear. It was on sale for Christmas.
