    Great video. I like that you were quick... the pics and line drawings supply a lot of the details. I love that you didn't gush about all of them! And, yes... lots of them are similar to other patterns that are already "out there"... That is absolutely a Samurai jumpsuit, LOL A few things were of interest to me but I don't think I'll be getting any this round. That blue floral is lovely - can't wait to see it made up... and the ice dyed fabric... always a favorite! I have some felted wool pieces I'm going to try - have no idea how it will turn out. It would be great if you made this a regular feature!

      Hi Diane! Thank you for the feedback - it's really helpful! Apparently lots of people agree that the jumpsuit was suited for a Samurai LOL! You have me intrigued with the felted wool pieces! I am definitely planning on making this a regular feature - I had fun putting it together!

    Nice review! Love your comment about if it doesn't look good on the model... And appreciating a design, even if not your style! But l also try to note when there are clips in the back or ways the model has their hands or stands that changes how a garment fits vs what line dwg suggests... So love it when good line drawings and photos are shown.

    Really good video. You went quickly and covered a lot of new patterns. I enjoyed your style of presentation a lot. Too many vloggers talk too much and in too much detail about new patterns. I usually can’t get through them but I watched all of yours. I have seen some of Sewing and the City vlogs and blogs when looking for upcycling ideas. She did a really pretty blouse out of a lace tablecloth.

    Such a wonderful collection of lNDIE patterns. Fibre Mood is my one “hiccup” the images of the patterns are artsy and provoke a “mood” but at the end of the day, show me the pattern, how it hangs on the body and the concept. (Just sayn’) 😊 I am very interested in most of these patterns. Thank you for bringing such a great list together.

    Great video! I like your quick assessment of each pattern. I like seeing the “picture” to get an idea of styling but mostly, I want to see the line drawings. I don’t need to have the description read to me, or see the measurements for each size, or see the fabric quantity required - I can look all of that up if I’m interested. Thanks for a great - and useful - video.

    Great vlog thank you. Had seen some of these before as a company called The Fold Line does a weekly vlog on new pattern releases in the UK. I did see some new ones though and I love your style of delivery. I am with you on Style Arc patterns and have made quite a few - instructions are definitely getting better. With you on Fibre Mood too. Did not subscribe to the magazine this year but think I will have to buy it after watching this. 😅. Love the cuffs on the boxy shirt - off to buy that too!! Look forward to seeing yours in that fab fabric!! Also love the ruffle sweatshirt which I think would look good with piping instead of ruffles. 😊 Lynne

    I really appreciate this video. I just made my first indie pattern and, yup, it fit well without alterations. I like hearing about various companies and your insight, since you are an experienced indie sewer. The blouse with the long puffy sleeves is going to be so pretty!!! And, YES, to the floral short sleeve shirt. Looking forward to seeing your ruffled sweatshirt…that’s a nice touch for what is usually a staple garment. As long as you have the links, I don’t need more information on each pattern. If an overview video of new patterns gets too detailed, I usually fast forward to the next pattern, which is fine and maybe just me. Thanks, again! 😊-Deborah

    I really like this video. Great to be introduced to some new pattern companies. I especially enjoyed when you found a pattern you liked you showed us the fabric you want to use to make it. I sew a lot of Love Notions patterns. I love them. I really like their new jacket pattern. What fabric would you make the Risa blouse out of? It's really cute. I think the short sleeve version of the Boxy Shirt looks perfect for the summer. I really love the fabric they made it out of. Rayon would be awesome for that pattern. I think the last sweatshirt pattern would be great made out of French Terry fabric. Thanks for sharing.

    • @MichelleSewsAgain
      @MichelleSewsAgain  10 месяцев назад

      For the Risa blouse - I don't have a fabric in my stash that jumped out at me. I think I would end up buying something. MAYBE. I really like the silky version on the models - but I would get a lot more wear out of something less dressy. For the short sleeve boxy shirt - I think they used a double gauze, which made it look light and airy. I think my rayon will work really well for that one. As for the Bleeker sweatshirt - I agree, a nice french terry would work perfectly! I'm glad you enjoyed the video Carol!

    Great review. I love the range of patterns you covered. Style Arc checks all the boxes! ❤ I've made two Maker's Atelier dresses, and they're well-drafted patterns. You might want to check out The Assembly Line for more simple styles. I've made the Cuff Sleeve top and one of their skirts. The Risa Blouse by Fibremood went on my list. It reminds me of the wrap blouses from the 50s/60s.

    Wow Michelle, you’ve done lots of research for us. As soon as I saw that white blouse I thought it was something you’d be interested in. Have you ever heard of Maison Fauve (French company - beautiful things but maybe a bit complicated ). Also, Pattern Emporium (Australian - very size inclusive and a great mix of woven and knit patterns)

    Hi Michelle. I like your Indie pattern round up. Do you have any white cotton jersey (for the arm ruffles) your could ice dye at the same time as the white sweatshirt fabric? That sounds like a really fun project. Thanks for putting together so many choices and new pattern companies, Antonia

    • @MichelleSewsAgain
      @MichelleSewsAgain  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Antonia! No, I don't have any white cotton jersey, but I could easily get some😊. That is definitely an option! I was thinking of something that would stand out as different though - maybe a fun, razzle dazzle ribbon or something...what do you think?

    • @antoniaburlingame5921
      @antoniaburlingame5921 10 месяцев назад

      Hi Michelle. That sounds great. You might consider a velvet or velour in a deep saturated color to accent all the yummy colors in your ice dye masterpieces. I know sequins are popular right now, but if you used sequin fabric for the ruffle it might crease weirdly where it's folded over. Maybe a single band of sequin trim on the edge of the ruffles or a beaded trim that dangles a bit (but not so heavy that it would pull down the ruffle)? I also really like your idea of maybe making the fabric in the middle between ruffles be a WOW attention getter. I could see a yummy brocade fabric for that band (watch out though becasue some of those fabrics have finicky washing requirements or need to be dry cleaned (a no-no in my world)). Fun sounds like a great theme word for your new year, Antonia @@MichelleSewsAgain

      The Ditto projector pattern system includes 100s of "free with subscription" patterns, after you purchase the projector system. It is expensive, but before the new year it was about 1/2 off and my sister and I went in together so we each paid about $200. Many of the patterns are customizable to our measurements so it requires very little adjustments such as fba, rounded back or sway back, etc. It even has a belly and a bottom protudence feature. I'm looking forward to playing around with it. I truly hope it works as well as I believe it will. I'm taking a 3 hour class this weekend to learn how to use it.

    I'm not up on indie patterns at all. I'm interested in, if you could please detail how you deal with the printing out of the patterns? One of the things I love about the big four, is the ease of the nice paper patterns. It's so nice with the pretty envelope, easy to cut out paper ready to go. I do not find indie patterns convenient AT ALL ...??? Maybe very cute, but if it only would show up at my house in an envelope with a picture.

    • @MichelleSewsAgain
      @MichelleSewsAgain  9 месяцев назад

      I send all my pdf patterns off to a printer, I don't print and tape them together myself. Yes, that is a nice feature of the Big 4 - too bad their sizing is not so great. There are SOME indie patterns that are available as printed already. If you check your local fabric shop, they might carry some!

      Hi Crystal! I have always used PDF Plotting. They are based here in the US. I'm honestly not sure what other options are available. I had tried using FedEx Copy Shop at one point a few years ago and whoever I talked to at the time said they couldn't do it. I have been thinking about checking out local copy shops to see if they could do it. PDF Plotting does ship pretty quickly. So I think it would come down to price. Anybody can make a pattern but I wish they would tell if they have been trained in patternmaking especially on plus bodies. Sewists think THEY did something wrong when often as not, it is a poorly drafted pattern.

    • @MichelleSewsAgain
      @MichelleSewsAgain  10 месяцев назад

      I would agree with you. However, I have found that since all plus size bodies have significantly different shapes, even those that are trained in plus size pattern making can't get it right 100% of the time. For instance, so many people love Cashmerette patterns - but her block does not work for my shape. So I think it's a matter of trying out different designers to see which block comes closest to your shape and then altering from there 😊. Excellent point though!!
