Immsold on Anthony Gordon. I think he'd suot Liverpool. Quick, direct, works hard, and has quality. He's 22/23 years old, which is a good age as he still has time to improve. He'd thrive at Liverpool.

Didn't Anthony Gordon come through the Liverpool academy before going to Everton?
Just to correct the record, Roy Keane played in the 1994 World Cup.
He didn't leave at halftime in 2002. It was in a pre tournament training camp in Saipan.

Thing about Anthony Gordon is that, like Sadio Mane and Salah before him I HATED him when we played against him regardless of if he was playing for Everton or Newcastle. Would love it if we signed him
We’re in a win win with this one. He’s got 2 yrs left so they either sell him now for what we want to pay, or sell him next year for way less. Gordon clearly only wants us as well. Newcastle have fucked it basically. At the same time though we shouldn’t overpay. 60m tops. Offer that and let them stew on it, Gordon then applies a little pressure and They’ll cave. Worst case if they don’t sell this summer we aren’t in dire need of a LW anyway. We can just sit back and let everything fall in our lap.
Spot on by Craig - I was in the same boat given his shithouse nature. Was totally gobsmacked by how humble and level-headed he was. Lesson re-learned innit.
Really excited about pre-season now. Interested to see who the new staff are and the impact they have and which of the youngsters may stand out this summer. Nyoni, Koumas and Clark are exciting and assuming it's now done, Alvin Ayman looks some prospect in an area of the pitch where he will probably get mins in pre-season ahead of the really established names coming back.
Rather have Diaz n Gakpo tbh.

Interesting that Newcastle have let it be known that he is unsettled. Usually when a club do that is because they are preparing the fanbase for a sale. If so, as it may well not be the case, it is in their interest to convince the fans that they didn't unsettled him by saying he was available.

Im not one to get wound up by footballers, but he absolutely got to me when he played us for Everton. I thought he was an utter snide little diving shit and I thoroughly disliked him. I've just watched the overlap and I'm completely wrong. One of the best interviews I've seen with a young player. He seems like a proper good kid (he was a diving little shit though).
I was the same. Hated him at Everton and didn't think he was that great but he's come on leaps and bounds the last 24 months. Was a the best LW in the league last season
It’s a strange one the Gordon deal. We have Jota, Nunez, Gakpo and Diaz who can all play as a left winger/inside forward. If we are genuinely in the mix for him, I’d imagine Diaz moves to Barce. Not sure he’s a better player, although I’d imagine he would get a better return in terms of goals.
Gordon had more assists in last season than Diaz in three seasons..he has better end product...diaz is goo dribler,but his end product is not world class...gordon is faster for counter attacks,can play as number nine, press well and is four years younger..it would be uprgrade on diaz..exactly what we need.

In not going to pretend im a big Anthony Gordon fan there are other players i would have preferred however he posts good numbers productivity wise and thats for Newcastle so at Liverpool maybe he is even more productive i cant complain, its not like certain players are pulling up trees.
Think Gordon would be a quality signing. If we sell Diaz and bring in Gordon then it’d make sense. Think we need to focus on getting a RW more though tbf

We all laughed when first Chelsea bid 50m for him and then when Newcastle signed him. Now all of a sudden this diving cheating pace merchant is good enough for us. He’s not better than any of our current forwards.
You’re right, he is currently around the same level as Diaz. He is however 4ish years younger. So in theory his ceiling is higher. So swapping one for the other is potentially a good idea.

In trying to change the narrative haven't Newcastle also let it be known in the report in the Telegraph, Liverpool did bid - just not formally. Otherwise how do Newcastle know that we were prepared to offer Quansah/Gomez and money and that it didn't help with PSR? So basically his agent knows that Newcastle have effectively knocked a bid back from LFC. If you consider that Gomez or Quansah must be around £30m then you would imagine that we offered at least what they paid for him. In all likeliness though we would have offered more than that as we would know offering them a player in exchange plus £15m would not do much if their psr situation was dire.
If we have offered them a deal for £55m-£60m you could see Newcastle being nervous as Gordon would probably think that is enough to start negotiating.

He had better numbers than diaz,he press well and is faster...diaz hard improve..gordon is four years younger...salah is maybe in last season..his decline was evident last season..so we need seek new solutions.
This lad is a diver, he'll be penalised even more here. A centre back, DM and forward are the positions that need strengthening.

I don’t understand why we need another left wing? We’ve got Gakpo Diaz Jota and Nunez who play there. Plus the way he left Everton was a bad look imo

I'd also love to see Anthony Gordon playing for Liverpool, he's a good player and his passion for the club should help in the final 15 minutes of a Champions League semi/final if we're ever a goal down. I'd love to see a Scouser bombing down the left and actually putting a shot on target. Luis Diaz has been good, but if his heart beats to a different drum then let's swap him (not directly) for AG and see if our forward line can improve even more under Arne.
On Dom Slobo, if I were him I'd have a nice short break and then try turning up earlier than needed to try and get my form back into gear and to show the new gaffer what I'm about. I think he's probably got one season to try to get a regular (ish) position in the new formation. We have plenty of options for the majority of the front 4 of a 4-2-3-1 and I can't really see him wanting to perform regularly in the double pivot, so it could well be make or break for him to impress as one of the 3.
I'm so looking forward to seeing the first season Slot team evolving over the next few months, I can imagine that we might well see some/many of the forwards playing quite differently to under Jürgen. It did occasionally feel like they kept playing the same tune the last few seasons and I felt many opposing managers/defences had worked out how to defend against us.
Gordon is overrated. He's no Laurent Robert or Ben Arfa
