Hey Kevin, i just found you on googlemaps completely by accident 😂. I've owned many Subaru's since the early 00's. I understand its Kei vehicles that you're into but man did it make me happy to hear you explain why you like the Subaru Sambar. My friend Devin that passed away back in 2020 would've loved this entire culture around these things. Anyways I'm local & just wanted to say hi & that i subbed. I've always been interested in learning how to swap the EJ engines so it made me happy to see how easy it is to access the engine from the rear. Now i know it's a diff engine but Boxer 4cylinders have always had a distinct sound. I've been throwing headers & straight piping NA impreza's back when you had to have them custom made for the EJ18. So i believe you when you say they sound good, even for that small of an engine. Good luck w/ your channel & i hope to do business in the future. Heck maybe I'll bump into you sometime around BL 😎 Take care. Perfect weather today for your vid btw!
thanks brother! appreciate the support! i hope you do get one! i am the only one around here with a sambar lol. mostly acty's in this area. there was one in enumclaw but he hit a deer or something. my buddy had one in the process of having the EJ swap but it tunred into a parts van so if you do it, finish it lol.
I'm going with all royal purple oils and diff fluids with liquid moly added in the oil. 5000km would be max for a change. These high rpm small engines should be done even more often, I'm doing 3500km. Uses so little it's cheap anyways. I get supercharger oil to change too. Thanks for the videos.
@@electricalmovement2886 do it all! Ignition tune up. All filters. Start fresh. It’s 25 plus years old. It’ll need it so it’s not a waste of money. Still acts up, clean the carb 👍🏻
10:50. On my “regular” cars, I either pop the oil dipstick up to unseal or take the oil fill cap off the topside. Both create a vent for the oil to flow out faster on initial draining. Is it different on this engine?
thats a good idea! never thought of popping the dipstick. the oil fill cap won't do much since the sambar has the top vent tube so it already has an opening per say but the lower crank case, opening the dip stick might help!
My oil is black after 300 miles. Its pretty gunked up under the valve cover. I change my oil every 7 or 8 hundred miles. My carb seems gunked up when its cold.
Sounds like fuel is getting into the engine and making the oil turn black faster since it is acting like a cleaner inside. But also can thin the oil and ruin bearings. I would definitely take the carb off and clean it and hopefully that will help with the fuel getting into the engine!
@@joshholmes8477 Nope. They only hae like a 5 foot bed now :(. They even discontinued the extended cab with the usable 6 foot bed. My Ranger has a 7 foot bed, kind of hard to let that one go.
Great Channel! Watched all your Sambar videos. Would you know the size of the oil pan drain plug on my 1999 TT2? Part number would be great too. I saw your listing for a KS3, KS4 but don’t know if that will work. Thanks from Missouri
@@OhKeiGarage You won’t share the size with me? I’d like to have a new steel one on hand with the correct crush washer before I take the old one out. My truck isn’t a beautiful custom like yours. Just an old working truck.
it's not that I won't share the size, I don't know the size :( i kind of remember m16 x 1.5 but don't quote me. google that for a Subaru and see if it looks right
1:21 sunshine makes an appearance lol

Hello Kevin from Golden B.C. Canada , I just purchased a 2003 Subaru Sanbar . I enjoy your explanations and that you work at home .
Best Vids for Sambar. Thanks so much.
Thank you for explaining why you do things, and thank you for making these videos. I don't have a Sambar yet but I'm on the hunt for one.
Happy St. Patty day. Good info on the seafoam. About time to change the oil on the hooptie fleet, so will run that through.
the hooptie fleet will thank you lol

agreed! change that oil and change it often!
i always put seafoam in my engine 2 or 3 days before i change my oil and the inside of my engine is spotless.
For fram oil filters. These use the same filter that my 2019 Nissan Sentra use. XG-6607
Or KN 1008 👍🏻
Should I change my fuel filter? Truck is running great. Its a 1997 Sambar 4x4 truck. It only has 24000 kilometers. Thanks for the help.

What are the bed dimensions one one of these?
Bout 6’x4’ or a little bigger. They fit the stall mats in them perfect.
Same box size as the original style rangers.
