      Hey, thanks for watching and for your thoughtful comment! You bring up an excellent point about budget constraints, and I totally get where you're coming from. My main goal with this video was to highlight the transmission issues that some SUVs like the Pathfinder have been known for, which can result in costly repairs down the line. While the upfront cost of a 4-Runner may be higher, the long-term reliability could potentially save you money and stress in the long run. That being said, I understand that not everyone has the flexibility for a higher upfront investment, and a well-inspected used Pathfinder could work for some. I have to disagree. I bought a Murano brand new in 2010 and sold just recently -13 years later. I had absolutely no issues with the CVT transmission - sure it lack a little in torque at the low end but I loved the car. Yes, the first gen CVTs were problematic largely because they weren't serviced properly. The V6 3.5 lt engine was superb. It was the crap French electrics (Remember that Nissan was owned by Renault) that let it down and it was thirsty on gas. So I've gone for a Subaru Forester. @@AutoEnginee Many thanks for your reply to my comment. I've only had the Forester for a few weeks and its quite a complex beast compared to the Murano (three manuals comprising over 1000 pages - mostly repetition and safety related! The biggest change for me is the having to adapt to a smaller engine. As mentioned in my initial comment, the Murano's V6 engine purred without a beat. The Forester's engine feels/sounds more 'industrial' There is an idling issue which I'm sure will be corrected during the first service. The Forester gets big ticks for comfort (I'm over 6'4"), visibility, spaciousness - great, 'wide mouthed', cargo space, and some of its safety features - the AWD system and reversing warning system are brilliant. I have the Sport Model so you get the option of having that acceleration boost available when you need it. The build quality is also excellent. It has all the 'bells and whistles' too - many of which are probably overkill and I'll likely never use. The only (mild) disappointment is that the fuel economy isn't as per the brochure but that may be because it's still a very new engine. Ask me how it is a 12 months time. Cheers

      Hey!
      Both cars have their pros and cons. The best choice really depends on individual preferences and priorities when it comes to a vehicle. I'd strongly suggest test-driving both before making a decision.
      Here's why I lean towards the Lexus:
      Lexus is renowned for its reliability. Coupled with superior comfort, a higher resale value, and, in my opinion, a more aesthetically pleasing design, it has the edge for me. However, it's worth noting that they are quite comparable in terms of technical features and driving capabilities.

      Both the Acura RDX with its 10-speed and the Lexus NX 350 with its 8-speed are pretty smooth. The RDX has that unique push-button system which might take a bit to get used to, but it's solid. Lexus, on the other hand, always nails it with smooth shifts. Honestly, best advice is to test drive both and see which vibe you prefer. I have not driven the RDX so can’t give you my opinion unfortunately. Best of luck!

      Great question! While the video highlights some cars with transmission issues, it's worth noting that not all CVTs are the same. Toyota's CVT often includes a "Direct Shift" feature, giving it a more traditional feel at start-up. Subaru's Lineartronic CVT, on the other hand, employs a chain for added durability. I agree with all of your SUVs to avoid but I would never suggest a BMW X5 or X3 , those are just as problematic or more so than any Nissan or Honda CVT. BMWs generally are plastic engined nightmares and rarely stay reliable past their first tier of warranty expiring. Just go with a Toyota!

    • @AutoEnginee
      @AutoEnginee  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you for agreeing with most of the SUVs listed to avoid. I understand that BMWs have a reputation for higher maintenance, especially post-warranty. The suggestion for BMW models like X5 and X3 is based on certain factors such as performance, features, and customer reviews. However, your point about long-term reliability is well-taken. Toyotas are often recommended for their long-term durability and lower maintenance costs. Your input adds an important perspective to the conversation, and I appreciate you sharing it.

    Buy any regular transmission that is tryed and true with gears that shift ! CVTs are snow mobile transmissions ! They say its cheaper to produce ! Take one apart and see they are very high tech ! If they save 1 buck they will replace it ! Its not that much they are saving, but its a lot they are bringing in replacing their transmissions ! If you have one with about 130k! You will be stuck on the side of the road some time in the future! I have had a couple of them ! learned my lesson ! To me Nissan is the BEST looking SUV on the market !! Their looks kill most others ! I would like to buy one ! They and many others want us to buy GARBAGE transmissions NO!

      Thank you for sharing your perspective. Many people have strong opinions on CVTs due to personal experiences. You are 100% right! People buy BMWs because they never look at reliability data, they want prestige, performance and luxury all of which BMW delivers. Unfortunately they have gone to building engines that are made of plastic and use turbo chargers that basically cook all that plastic. They are total garbage but those who buy them new will trade up in a couple of years leaving the used ones on the lot for someone else to buy cheap and live to regret it.
