Here I am upset by this story and expecting OP to call an uber. but no, she peeled off with the presents. I cheered out loud. Best stand up for yourself moment I've heard in a while

This is not was it means to choose your child over everyone else. This is making a spoiled brat and telling your spouse she is nothing. So disrespectful.
I hope OP gets out of this relationship. It's over.

Why is she making dinners for him? Still why is she still in the same bed as him. Oh no I would stop all of those services. His precious little daughter can come and cook for him.

This broke my heart! Made me so angry! How hard is it to say no! I guess it is difficult to tell his daughter no. This man allow his little snoopy daughter go through bag she shouldn’t be going through. He let this little brat manipulate him and he just gave in. Honestly, I could’ve snatched that purse back. I think i have an idea of what the purse is that boiling my blood even more because of 16 year-old girl does not need an expensive designer bag. This makes me so sick and breaks my heart that people really go through this type of stuff. I hope she took every single one of those gifts back to the store.

AND she should spend ALL the money on a new purse!!!

Or at the very least a 16 year old who's clearly a fashionista can get a job at said designer purse store and use her own money and employe discounts and earn it for herself

Notice the ex wife easily believed OP? Yeah, she's been there too. Also, where was the 2nd small gift he claimed to have for her?

He didn't have one. You know he didn't
My guess is he knew his daughter would want it so he was biding his time

I was so mad listening to this, I actually started pacing. Girl, it’s over. I don’t throw around the divorce chant lightly, but divorce is the only healthy option moving forward.

I think he planned to give his daughter the purse the whole time.
Edit: I agree that there's no turning back from indifference. When my ex-husband finally pushed me too far, this sense of calm came over me and my mind was made up. I wasn't sad. I wasn't hurt. I just wanted out.

Exactly...otherwise where is supposed already purchased gift he used as an excuse to hold on to the purse while he went to pick up his daughter? There was no other gift and he 100% intended on giving it to his daughter. He's shown her over and over how little he appreciates her by giving her "what she deserves" which in his opinion is nothing. She needs to pack his stuff up for him and leave the divorce papers sitting on top for when he gets back.

If she is indifferent to him I think they should look into a divorce. His daughter is going to have a hard time adjusting to the real world when she gets out of her parents houses’. He shows her repeatedly that his daughter means more to him than she ever will. She should leave.

My EX was exactly like this…said the exact words “you’re not my mother.” But would expect me to shop for his mother and expect something from me on Father’s Day. I was a stay at home mom. I watched my gfs daughter so I would save money to get him something only to hear him say “let me see what I got myself this year!” I was done after that! He never helped with the kids. Refused to even grill. I cut the grass, shoveled the snow, all housework…bc “I wanted to be a stay at home mom so don’t bitch about it now!” Our youngest had to be resuscitated after birth. It was traumatizing to say the least. I could not leave him to return to work. As a toddler he was in speech and occupational therapy 3 days a week for years. All while taking my gfs infant with me who I watched 12hrs a day and had a preschooler plus 2 older children. I was exhausted and NEVER appreciated in any way.
Our son started kindergarten in August, I went back to work the same day, saved money, and filed for divorce in November!!! Four years later, I started a new job and met my current husband who I’ve been with for 3 years. This man! Oh my! We cook together, clean up the kitchen together, he will help me do everything and anything without me asking even laundry! I help him with the yard work and everything else. He makes my plate and doesn’t let anyone start eating until mom is at the table. I get weird when he gives me presents bc I’m not used to feeling loved or having someone do something just bc they were thinking of me!
Do not settle for less than what you deserve! ❤❤❤❤

What is up with that? Where you have a kid and he says You're not my mother. Two ex husbands have told me that. Wild

Had an ex like that- made holidays miserable for everyone else but he wanted birthday presents and Christmas - he was a self-absorbed narcissist and he changed my life. He made me numb to holidays, made me expect problems and pushback, and to put myself last. It took years to snap back- and the love of a good person. My regret is my daughter experienced and saw this. Remember our kids share cells with us and we can’t suffer without them feeling it. The effects on her self esteem was something I never wanted. For you, for your son- leave.

A thoughtful gift says "I love you and listen to you. I spent the time and resources to get you this because I care for you." This applies to bought or handmade gifts

So I’d love to know what the other thing was that he got her that he was putting in the purse? She doesn’t say if she ever got that piece of Christmas present.

I hope all the relatives who sided with OP withheld returned the nice gifts they got the entitled stepdaughter and got their money back.
OP is NTA for ditching the husband and step daughter at the gas station, but she is TA to herself if she doesn’t get out of that marriage.

My ex husband was like this. His mother kept WAY overstepping boundaries. He refused to do anything. I told him I was going to get her the book called Boundaries unless he wanted to pick something out because I was tired of doing it all. He didn’t think I’d do it. I did. She was not happy. He was pissed. Oh well. 🤷🏾‍♀️

It’s time for her to leave. She’s indifferent and it’s done. He has repeatedly shown her that she means nothing to him. It wasn’t about the purse. The purse was just a symbol of how little he cared in a long line of not caring. I can’t believe he tried to reach for her in bed. Like sir you get no fun time you suck.
