Pelswick Airing on ADULT SWIM CANADA?!

- "John Callahan's Pelswick" (or as I "affectionately" call it, "Wheelchair Doug") is arguably THE most forgotten Nicktoon (albeit a semi-official one, as it's a Canadian show by Nelvana) of all time, and as such, on top of being rather average-quality in its own right, it is one that Nickelodeon tends to pretend was erased from their memories. Today, the reason why I'm even going out of my way of talking about this show is that I found out about the sheer absurdity that is its inclusion on Adult Swim Canada since late January 2021! I'm not joking! Watch to hear my thoughts!

Yeah, I noticed that Adult Swim Canada started airing reruns of Pelswick in 2021. I started watching some of the Pelswick reruns on Adult Swim Canada recently.
That canadian Nicktoon can't come to it.
@TarquinPlayz376 Loranger Same.
5:15 “But, NO, 14-Freaking-Plus!”
(POW)
Also, Ren & Stimpy aired on [adult swim] in Germany for awhile.
Wait a minute, Is Ren & Stimpy a cartoon show for kids too? I know it is intended for adult audiences. Don't you just get that?
@@mcclellandryan1843 The Ren & Stimpy Show was made for both adults and kids. Kinda like Disney's Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
@@bychrischannel Well I think Teletoon should bring back Ren & Stimpy to late night since it is now 24/7. What do you think about that?
@Adrian Alcantar How much do you like Ren & Stimpy?
@@mcclellandryan1843 they should air the Adult Party Cartoon
I Never Knew He Voiced By Robert Tinkler!
Also, the Pelswick intro was awesome
3:21 The Detour On Teletoon Logo
That is a Nickelodeon show by 2000s
Adoptingly.
Very strange indeed. I know The Detour on Teletoon (the Canadian predecessor to Adult Swim) has aired children’s cartoons in the past, but most of those shows had tons of humor that went past children’s heads (like Ren & Stimpy, The Tick, and the “Grim” and “Evil” duo).
Exactly. Even the American Adult Swim aired some "kids" cartoons, including "Cartoon Planet" (a spinoff of "Space Ghost Coast to Coast", anyway), "The Ripping Friends" (then again, it was never a good fit for Fox Kids to begin with), and, via Toonami, "Sym-Bionic Titan" and the original "Samurai Jack".
@@NoParkingBerry The real reason why the first four seasons are on there is to help newcomers understand the context of the fifth season.
@@ChristianFrates1997 really? That's interesting.
@@ChristianFrates1997 You're right. That makes sense.
Yeah but now Teletoon has gone back to airing all kids programming like they used to do when the channel first launched. Did you even know that Teletoon has aired some adult animated shows without a nighttime block? That was before The Detour on Teletoon first came into existence. Do you even remember that?
2:57 “WHAT?!?!?!?”
Pelswick for nick all star brawl as dlc
3:55 That’s my emotional-related thoughts on the new Wednesday schedule for Nick Pluto TV.
Can't wait for ECC on Global.
LOL that sounds good, since all the Fox cartoons have moved to Citytv recently, leaving Global TV animation free.
@@NoParkingBerry Do you remember when Global tv used to air Animation Domination on Sunday nights? Do you remember that?
@@mcclellandryan1843 Yep. Good times.
I thought in some areas of Canada they had Fox Stations
@@SecretFilesOfTheSpyDogs Yeah at least Canada has one Fox affiliate.
They also air Delta State on Adult Swim.
Oh right, that show used to be on the Detour on Teletoon as if I remembered correctly.
they play clone high too
@@BookFan2019and also have been recently airing "T and T" and "Bob and Margaret".
Corus actually has rights to Nelvana and with broadcasting rights in Canada for Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Adult Swim, etc. Plus, they also have rights to Channels like YTV and Teletoon, so basically Corus could air SpongeBob on Disney Channel Canada if they wanted.
4:05 why pelswick?
Pelswick was alright man
Canada is a really sick neighbor
Yeah, I agree with you 100 %.
I love Pelswick and Quads! Their two of my Favorite Nelvana shows! Infact, I've Watched all the Episodes of Quads! It was a good show!
Hell yea buddy, subscribed!
This is even weirder than when "Jane and the Dragon" reran on Treehouse TV in 2016 and 2017.
Oh yeah! Treehouse was no stranger to airing shows, movies, and specials that are aimed a little more towards the 6 and up crowd than the channel's core preschooler demographic. I remember in the mid-2000s when they did month-long marathons of the "Land Before Time" film series, and they didn't skip the traumatic first movie (complete with scary T-Rex--er, Sharptooth--attacks, and dinosaur child endangerment!). Also, while I'm not sure if they ever played the show itself, Treehouse even aired most of the "Rugrats" holiday specials, even though the show isn't exactly made for babies, despite STARRING babies. Then again, it also aired on Nick Jr. in the mid-90s, so meh.
@@NoParkingBerry Yeah. I don't understand how those were on Treehouse, while some shows like "George Shrinks", "Seven Little Monsters", "Rupert", "Care Bears" (which did air on Treehouse too), "Pingu" and "LazyTown", which are clearly preschool shows, were on YTV instead.
@@NoParkingBerry was there any other movies aside from land before time that had aired on treehouse?
Wow I've never even heard of this one
Holy crap! Pelswick on adult swim?! What’s next?! My Life as a Teenage Robot on Adult Swim? 🤔
This is news to me. I just wish they could consider airing it on the adult swim on cartoon network here in the US
I watched an episode on there because I never seen it before, it's really good but I don't understand why it's on Adult Swim.
Pelswick in a nutshell.
What a bizarre moment where Adult Swim Canada would air a kids show, and then rate it "14+", instead of just either "C", "C8" or even "PG"! XD
My best bet is that someone at the network simply thought "John Callahan = super-dark comedy 24/7", without taking a good look to realize that "Pelswick" is the cleanest of his creations, which is saying A LOT.
@@NoParkingBerry That could be a good point.
I mean as what you said before, he did create the super-edgiest cartoon in his creations known as "Quads".
Well I really wouldn't mind if Adult Swim Canada would air Quads instead.
@@YuviToons It's also so weird going to the end of the credits and seeing the Nickelodeon logo on Adult Swim.
I remember pelswick
1:03
I think the only reason they’re airing this is because of their Canadian content law.
Wow
Wait, Pelswick on [adult swim] of all adult channels? This is a kids show!
Can anyone tell me why Pelswick is on Adult Swim and not Quads?
This is obviously quads fault
Oh really, Why is that?
Its A disgrace to pelswick
Well I think Adult Swim should be airing Quads instead of Pelswick. Don't ya think?
I Agree And Pelswick Should Be Airing On Disney Channel Or Nick Canada Instead
I'm in awe🙀
I’m surprised!
What's next? Peter Rabbit 2012 airing on [adult swim] with a PG rating to promote the 2nd movie?
Actually, I'm hoping that happens. More adults need to see that show and how brilliant and underrated it really is.
Ha Ha! Good pointers!
Will there be any more Teletoon originals especially the ones that aired on TAN/Detour appear on the Canadian Adult Swim channel?
Ok Canada why air this on a network that Adult Swim won’t air here in the US. I remembered Pelswick on CBS back when CBS used to be owned by the (old) Viacom and not the current company ViacomCBS it was on Nick on CBS the block that CBS had when they have the deal with Nickelodeon to put their shows on the network, they would air Nick Jr. shows since CBS originally had the Nick Jr. on CBS block before they switched it to Nick on CBS and then the block was replaced by KOL Secret Slumber Party which it was a block that was from DiC Entertainment (now WildBrain) in association with AOL and American Greetings.
Hey, that show kind of reminds me of Quads.
Canadians how does it feel to have a 24/7 channel??!
Alright Alright, your video's done we're done running tests on your crimbled wheelchair kid, turns out you might sell him to ViacomCBS International Studios for global distribution!
So not a good rerun for it.
Why? What do you mean?
@@mcclellandryan1843 that chinese canadian nicktoon got the wrong side of a view.
@@bradyanderson6311 Oh really, How so?

@@bradyanderson6311 Oh, I get it now. I wasn't trying to be too offensive but what the heck.
Adult swim at it again? They seem to always flip siding on conservation topics. LoL
Well they sure did but that's just what it is. I wasn't saying that Adult Swim has the right to Canadian content so what's that got to do with it?
