    I got a degree in Business Analytics and landed a job as a SQL Developer. I love the role so far and the teamwork between the SQL devs with the analytics team is awesome. I get to see problems from various perspectives at work which has helped me get a feel for best SQL practices and working within certain parameters/constraints.

      Hey GL, I would suggest this course: codebasics.io/courses/sql-beginner-to-advanced-for-data-professionals Not saying this because it is my course but it truly has helped many. You will get certificate as well but to be honest all certificates are pretty much useless. what matters is your skills. I designed this course based on real life industry experiences and it covers end to end project (With 1.4 million records). It is perfect for beginners and advanced users both. Try it out.

    cover some pain points in working w/ data. it's part of the career and you're talking about career paths. I've seen people study sql, think they got it, and then learned (by me) that their monthly analysis' for the last year are wrong. Can you imagine having to explain that to one of the richest persons on the planet and the owner of the company?? it is nightmare level awkward and uncomfortable. I've seen other mistakes that cost companies millions every few minutes. Can you imagine being that one person that brought a division down and everyone knows it was you? how do you even show up for work the next day. It's great people want to learn but they need some warnings and know about some pain points.

      Sure, the stakes can be high, but that shouldn't deter people from pursuing a career in something that interests them deeply. SQL, like any other skill or tool, takes time to learn and no human is perfect. To avoid such situations, you should develop good coding habits to ensure the work you are doing is accurate, timely, and worthwhile. As a practice, I always QC my work before committing changes to my company's codebase or sending deliverables to a client or manager.

    • @codebasics
      @codebasics  6 месяцев назад

      Your chances of getting a job depend on the company. We suggest learning PowerBI, SQL, and Excel. Also, focus on creating a strong project portfolio and building credibility on LinkedIn. This will boost your chances of landing a job.

      I did multiple projects using 5 different data analytics tools, 6 months unpaid internship, created a project portfolio, an ATS friendly resume and have good presence on LinkedIn (though, I am not always active).
      I did everything, but still I am unemployed 😢. No one's giving chance to an inexperienced candidate and fresher's job are also taken by experienced candidates.
      The only thing left for me to learn is advance statistics like regression analysis, hypothesis testing and predictive analysis.
