She’s coming along nicely as a trail dog 👍 There are few weirdo’s out there, but most people are pretty accepting if she makes a little mistake on the trail. Or even really happy and impressed with her (she’s a very happy doggo) I guess more in a later video 🥴
Brilliant video, so little about training your dog for this on YT. First bike ride out with a lead with my dog and i had to remove the lead from the cassette several times as he kept swapping sides lol .. I found sticking to the same route to start with, got him off the lead very quickly due to the familiarity. I genuinely think he loves it ! Looking forward to seeing how your dog progresses!
Consistency has been absolutely key! We tried a longer lead once… didn’t go well 😂😂😂 she chewed through it 4 times in under 30 minutes 🥴, so we went back to this exercise a few times. Thankfully she’s actually pretty smart, so we didn’t have to spend ages on this. Videos aren’t out yet, but we’ve got her following us on the trail now 🥰 We do tend to stick to the same one, but that’s more for our convenience than hers. In a way, it’s actually better if she isn’t so familiar with a trail, as she then looks to us for direction, rather than thinking she knows it 👍
@@WussyCatMTB mines an australian kelpie im inherited from the local farmer, hes 3 years old. Had a few fenton moments but generally very obedient considering ive only had him 3 weeks. He’s doing great! 👍 We’re not really ‘dog people’ - Layla was surrendered to my mother-in-law… she’s a bit of a home-wrecker 😂 We don’t think she had any training or anything beforehand, but she’s picked it up 👍
Great stuff Marie, i would love a trail dog as i ride alone a lot. What i would love even more than a trail dog is a trail cat!!! Now that would be something....and when the cat gets tired it could just jump onto my back and hold on and look over my shoulder where we are going.......and when "sending it" hahaha! Think i would need some thick leather like material on my shoulders though lol
Honestly- I’d prefer if our cats would be trail-cat capable, too 😂 We are just making the most of the situation with Layla - if we randomly end up with a dog, it’s going to be a trail dog… Most of our cats don’t do harnesses, and I’m not sure they’d keep their focus on us either! More likely to go and decimate the local wildlife…

Yay Awesome Wuss!! Bless her.
