Lovely piece covering our beautiful Isle of Wight. Hope you enjoyed it despite the less than ideal weather. We are normally one of the sunniest parts of the UK 😂. If you ever make it back, some local hospitality awaits and will be happy to help make your visit even more enjoyable. BW Alex.
What a wonderful comment! All we know for sure is that we will continue cycle touring throughout our lives and that we will be sure to get in touch if and when we are in the area. 😊
Great video. I'm so sorry you received such vile abuse hours after setting foot in our country. I'm sure you'll have seen much more responsible behaviour in Europe. Anyway, the vast majority of drivers here are great. I hope you enjoyed cycling in the UK 🙂
I agree that the vast majority were totally fine. It's tough for everyone when the only way for us to go is uphill on busy narrow roads and we end up impacting traffic flow. Overall, England was a really interesting place to cycle (in a good way!)
So sad about the abuse by drivers. For many years now the right-wing press in the UK have been stoking anti-cyclist sentiment, and anything done to make cycling safer is viewed as a "war on cars". Cycling is seen as a political statement here, rather than simply being a form of transport like in continental Europe. 😞
As a born and bred Englishman from Canterbury, I'm embarrased by the morons you encountered in Dover. Unfortunately there is an anti-bicycle element here and van drivers are some of the worst. An irrational hatred of cyclists seen as invading the space that some car and van drivers see as theirs to abuse. I have been an avid cyc;ist for over 40 years but also drive with respect for other cyclists as I know what they go through. Nice video. Much of the ground you covered in Kent is very familiar as my own training routes! I'll watch the others in this series with interest.
We didn't let the attitudes of a few impact our trip. We hadn't done a ton of research into biking in England as it was not part of our itinerary when we began our trip. But we were amazed that there were so many areas with cycle paths, dirt roads, and roads with nearly no traffic. Although there were a few areas where we encountered some tight roads with some traffic, on balance, we found the South of England very fun to cycle. Hopefully that comes through in the video.
Daddy is a real happy camper... but your videos are very soothing to watch 😊
Very happy camper indeed! Glad you enjoy them

The US is similar. Things are slowly changing, but there is some short-sighted backlash.
Spot on with your comment 👍
Agreed. See my own comment on this sad state of affairs.
Amazing! Are you guys still cycling?
Hey Tulsi! We returned home in August. Thinking about another shorter tour in summer 2025.

Love the hedgerows in Kent along their route, Kent is a beautiful area hope to get there one day.
Nice video. Thank you. Perfect stabilization as usual. Is it software stabilization?
The stabilization is built into the GoPro 10. As long as there's sufficient light, it does a great job.
