Exactly. That's the reason why his phone doesn't ring for parts in other movies. He's so full of himself he's too inexperienced to be somebody else. LMAO!!!
So……..the evil laughter that plays as the predator sets off the bomb on his arm before dying it’s actually Billy’s, damn 😐 I must have seen this movie at least 1000 times now, ALWAYS enjoying it as the very first time, timeless/flawless classic 👍🏻
I've watched Predator hundreds of times over the past 30 years+, And I've probably watched If It Bleeds We Can Kill It about half of that. Both classics.
From an era when movie companies had talented producers, directors and actors. They were willing to take a gamble becasue they believed in their people. I was a teenager when Predator came out, and trust me, it blew us away. It was the best action movie since Rambo, which also changed history in movie making. Fast forward to 2018 and movie companies are run by lawyers and accountants in committee meetings. THey wont take a chance on a fresh new script, and instead just do reboots of old classics. Predator is a classic, and will remain timeless, but I bet they do a reboot.
Today you cannot do movies like that anymore, unfortunately... now everything has to be politically correct and it must no offend anyone. The 80s were fuckin' awesome!
Great action-suspense is more like it but (shrug). Don't get me wrong, this movie was good and still holds up even now but when you say "sci-fi" and compare it to something like the first Star Wars trilogy.....nuff said?
There was a "trend" back in those days where major studios declared that their big movies lost money, in order not to honor the contract. Same thing happened to Alien and Aliens, which, we now know, were financial successes for those times (especially Aliens). I imagine Predator was also a financial success but the greed of the studio made it look like it wasn't.
The angle from behind Mac with that Mini Gun is amazing. In a movie today it would be shit because it would be shot in 4K with special FX, overly clean, clinical and fake. Precisely why films will never be as good until we get back to those days.
The first two minutes are amazing, that would have shown how the Predator likes to toy with his prey and why Dutch had the upper hand in the end, he understimated human nature.
And the script, the plot, the screen play, the effects, and the direction from John Mcteirnan - made Die Hard in the same year. He was at the top of his game. It's a lot more than just Arnie and the music that made this a classic.
