Commando? Looking back Commando and T2 influenced me a lot. Commando is at the moment my favorite movie of all time. I watched it when I was around 6 or 7 years old which was at a great time in my life. Great childhood memories watching Commando with my family and friends on a perfect summer night.

I grew up watching Arnold’s movies as a kid till a grown man. My father was born in 36’, he was a very tough strong man. Worked construction all his life. When it came to movies he didn’t have the most patience. But he ALWAYS respected Arnold Schwarzenegger and his movies. This is coming from a older black man from the DC/Baltimore area. My father has long been passed away now, but to this day I still admire everything about Schwarzenegger and his films, thanks to me seeing what a true old school gentleman admires. Toughness, charisma, manhood, and humbleness

This is the best interview of Arnold I’ve ever heard. His comments regarding his relationship with his father are in line with what I’ve read elsewhere and completely correspond to my armchair psychologist speculations about how it may have influenced the development of his character and outlook on life. I do wish he’d had an opportunity to talk a little about his late brother Meinhardt, who tragically died at a young age. It’s interesting: Both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Donald Trump - who definitely appear to be nemeses- aren’t only of Germanic ancestry but both had older brothers who had substance abuse issues and died at young ages. I speculate that in both cases this may have also contributed to the development of their “must win at all costs!” mindsets.

Arnold is a national treasure. He's intelligent, perceptive, charismatic and goal driven. Instead of complaining when things don't go his way he just works harder and prepares more thoroughly. This is how you become successful. He's also a captivating storyteller and who knew he did Nixon impressions? Great guy.

My son was born with the transposition of the great arteries. He had his revised surgery 7 days after he was born and had internal bleeding after surgery went back to OR night of.. we almost lost him a couple of times throughout the 11 months we spent in the hospital. He now will be 21 in July!!❤❤
He literally came from nothing. Came to America, the land of opportunity. Became the biggest action movie star, became governor of California, and he became a bodybuilding champion, and god knows what else!!! HARD WORK pays off!!

Then his book The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding was my go to source when I was 15 and desperate to descrawnify myself. He’s still inspiring me to chase my dreams all these decades later. The interviewer is perfect too. You asked great questions then let him answer for as long as he wanted to without interrupting. Human beings are nuanced, and he's not a perfect human, but in so many ways, they don't make men like him anymore. It is why it's so important to hear people like him tell their stories.

I can relate to Arnold. As an Asian kid in the U.K., my father always said things like “I’m not good enough etc” now I have a business and family in Tokyo. Comments like that help you in life I guess
I think Arnie in his 20's and 30's is probably a contender for the guy MOST guys in the world would want to be - and to have lived through that part of his life. From winning Mr Olympia and Mr Universe, to moving from Austria to the USA and making the Conan Movies, Terminator, Commando and Predator, to Total Recall and True Lies, and becoming the highest paid, well known Hollywood Megastar ever. Infinite hot girls. Marrying a Kennedy. Just insane level of life.
Everything except the part about his wife. She's always been odd looking and he could of had someone far more attractive. Plus the relationship failed and they divorced so like alot of people he unfortunately wasted many years with someone he won't die married to. At least he has his children from it.
Back in the early 1980's when I first discovered him and saw Conan in 1982 and then saw Pumping Iron not long after I decided to get serious about becoming a bodybuilder. I devoured everything Arnold did, saw every movie, if only to support him, and started saving every magazine cover he was on. Eventually I gave up on the magazine covers because they would have filled a whole room. He's been inspiring me, in so many ways, for 4 decades now. I'm thankful for Arnold and how and who is is.
What a journey! This is living life to it's fullest. Arnie's so timeless, when he spoke about Nixon it sounded crazy, then you remember he's 75yrs old! 🤣 He managed to describe a whole lifetime, without expressing any obligatory sadness or excuses for one thing or another. Arnold is a true legend. When I was younger I got into working out/weight training. I bought his bodybuilding book at a garage sale for 75 cents. Best money I ever spent. Helped me so much. Went from 260lb with belly to 205lbs with a 6 pack in 6 months while working 65/hrs work week. Ate whatever I wanted too. I was kinda surprised when I read the part about him and Franco smoking weed before workouts to open up the blood flow I thier lungs. Well, I followed the book and bought a bag lol, worked great!

I read Arnold's book in the 80's. All I remember is he could weight train with his buddy and they would finish and writhe on the ground in pain. And his mother would be like ' what's wrong with you'. ... It was a fun book. A little different.

What a journey! This is living life to it's fullest. Arnie's so timeless, when he spoke about Nixon it sounded crazy, then you remember he's 75yrs old! 🤣 He managed to describe a whole lifetime, without expressing any obligatory sadness or excuses for one thing or another. Naturelly positive, more like him please! 👏
And still looks phenomenal, with CGI and stuntmen, de-aging he can do movies for the next 15-20 years. I'd pay for it.

Phenomenal interview performance! Congratulations! Thank you for not interrupting Mr. Schwarzenegger. It could be that when an interviewer interrupts it's because they're nervous, not the case here. Maybe some people are intimidated/nervous around A list celebrities.

Great Interview Graham... you did a lot of research and made it very entertaining how each question lead to painting a story of his life. And Arnold is a special person and a loved his Nixon impersonation.

Arnold is a true legend. When I was younger I got into working out/weight training. I bought his bodybuilding book at a garage sale for 75 cents. Best money I ever spent. Helped me so much. Went from 260lb with belly to 205lbs with a 6 pack in 6 months while working 65/hrs work week. Ate whatever I wanted too. I was kinda surprised when I read the part about him and Franco smoking weed before workouts to open up the blood flow I thier lungs. Well, I followed the book and bought a bag lol, worked great!
Wow 2023 watching this amazing interview and watched the Netflix’s documentary of his life and the more I watched in this interview I find more and more impressive life stories and I bet he still has more lot to tell huh ❤

btw...this interview also is like a masterclass in interviewing...no nonsense but still brings out the best in the human, good researching beforehand as preparation, interruptions meant to bring clarity for the audience and giving respect even on topics that can be taken the wrong way if done by other interviewers...kudos
Hearing about Arnold talking about life growing up in Austria was fascinating. I think his life has all the makings of a great biopic. Maybe his son can play him?

I read Arnold's book in the 80's. All I remember is he could weight train with his buddy and they would finish and writhe on the ground in pain.
And his mother would be like ' what's wrong with you'.
... It was a fun book. A little different.
