Cheryl, I can’t thank you enough for these videos! I am not a newbie, have been knitting for 52 years, and yet what I learned from these videos was about the SEAMING. Your seams are impeccable, and I made the sweater along with you and my seams look amazing! My husband said now I just have to resist going back and taking apart everything I’ve ever made to resew all those bad looking seams. I was taught just one way to do it, and now I know that there were a lot of other ways that look so much nicer. Yes, you are correct, when you are a lifelong learner, you are never bored. I am going to buy your book now so that I can continue to expand my repertoire of skills. Thank you again!
Hi Terry. I have a series of videos on edges and cardigan bands scheduled for later this year. It will include some different buttonholes. Meanwhile . . . 6 dvds are on the to do list. I've been slow at getting them done because I'm daunted by the technology though I made them about 5 years ago. I just have to go back and take my online DVD Studio Pro classes again. As soon as I get them ready I will contact you here and probably even announce it on the channel. And thank you for asking.
thank you so much for this series of videos! I am not a knitter, but crochet instead and found the information in this series extremely valuable. As soon as I finish up a few WIPs, I plan on using this series to make this sweater. I was searching RUclips to educate myself on sweater construction and really hit the jackpot!! Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into these videos. It's much appreciated.
You are so welcome Julie. Yes. The method I teach in the book Sweater 101 is applicable to crochet as well as knitting, though knitting is the more common fabric for making sweaters. And thank you for watching and commenting.
Cheryl, thanks so much for the series of videos. They have creased my knowledge of knitting way beyond what I thought I knew. Also, I want to thank you for a lot of your previous videos, especially the ones on the bond knitting machine. When you did your blast from the past portion it reminded me of your workshop videos on the island. Oh how hairstyles change. You truly have been an inspiration.
Robert Johnson Thank you for this kind comment and you are so welcome for the series. It's true I've been at this business a long time. Some would say VERY long. :)
You are most welcome Patricia and thank you for watching. I do not have a distributor for the hard bound books outside the U.S. partly because they are so heavy . . . almost 2 pounds each. I do, however, ship to the UK and the least expensive postage is about US$29. Hence, most of the people outside the US who purchase the book get the electronic (eBook) version,
Miss Cheryl, I have watched all the 15 videos for this sweater and have decided I am going to give it a try. I think you are a serious professional, a real master, and I really enjoy the way you teach. I have already asked my husband to buy me your book as I know from the reviews it is a real treasure. I will come back after I am done with the sweater and tell you all about it. Thank you again. You are a pricesless gift from the Universe. Cheers from Costa Rica.
Larah Porter Thank you for this kind and generous comment Larah. I'm happy that the videos have helped you and I look forward to seeing your first sweater.
Hi Cheryl I just downloaded you ebook. I loved making the sweater. Just as you said...I feel that I have been freed to do my own gauge with my own yarn. What a difference it has made. I am thinking of doing a knit sweater dress with pockets for my daughter after I have finished a few more little sweaters for my grandson. I hope you do some more video's. I love the Knit Along Idea...it gives me so much more confidence to try to design my own creations....thanks so much.
I have the original publication which I have used for many years. Never use a purchased pattern just use this as a basis and go from there to fit myself or any other family members. Wonderful resource. Also have a Bond machine and all your videos.
Dear Cheryl, thank you ever so much for this class!! I loved it from beginning to finish! You helped and encouraged me to actually knit my first sweater. I actually managed the right size! Where I live ( Germany, Eurpe) there are no such great knitting classes like yours! I coudn't wait to subscribe to your channel to learn even more!! Yours Claudia
Thank you, thank you, thank you! My sweater turned out exactly right. From the first lesson to the last there was always something for me to learn, even though I've been knitting for years. What a brilliant and caring teacher you are, I felt like you were talking just to me and appreciate your generosity in posting this on the internet.
Denise Oxborrow You are so welcome Denise and thank you for this kind comment. And I was just talking to you. ;) That really is part of my method. I visualize one student and talk directly to that person. That approach has served me and my students well for years.
I really enjoyed these classes. I decided to get sweater 101 in ebook and I'm so glad I did as I had to up the size of the sweater cause the little guy I was making it for shot up. I just have a couple of ends to weave in and I can take the sweater over to his house tomorrow. Thank you for sharing this on RUclips. I just wish I had found you earlier.
I'm so glad the book has helped you Debbie. Those darned little ones! the shoot up like crazy when they're well fed. Thank you for watching, commenting, and buying the book. ch
Hi Saminahalim. I have no plans right now for teaching another whole sweater online right now but that may change. With the skills in this video and the information in Sweater 101, you should be able to make any sweater in any size. One thing I may show is how to make a v-neck.
You are so welcome Lindalouise. Now I have to find that email from you with those photos of that darling yellow sweater you made with the brown buttons. (I'm just now catching up with This Knitting Life after taking May off to prepare for my son's wedding here on June 1, the end of 5 days of company and celebration, June to recover, and now gearing up to start shooting videos again.)
Cheryl, thank you for the class! I just finished my baby sweater and I will post pictures and details on Sweater 101 Ravelry page. I learned so many techniques and feel confident in sweater making now! 🧶
very much enjoyed this class. Very detailed explanations and love the techniques you use. I'll definitely use them for my following projects. thanks to you I made my first sweater and it came out amazing! I'm about to purchase your ebook.
This is so good to hear Kathleen. I'm happy you have made your first sweater and you love how it came out. I hope you'll come to cherylbrunette.com and join my email newsletter group if you haven't done so already. That's where I'm in closest touch with knitters. If I do manage to get some things done this year (and I surely will) you'll learn about them there first.
Love the sweater! Will post picture after I finish blocking. Would love to do a Cardigan / Cardigan Bands next ... Would you let me know how I can purchase this collection of videos to go along with my book & allow me to refer to it often?
Thanks so much for all the work you've done to make these videos. I finished the sweater!! Now I have the confidence to make something besides shawls and blankets ☺
Simply amazing step by step classes. Thank you so much for taking time to make and post these. Will you be selling your sweater 101 book in the UK? On amazon UK possibly in the near future? :-)
Thank you for these brilliant tutorials. I got stuck while making (my first ever) adult size sweater and you really helped getting me back on track. The tutorials are easy to understand and easy to "translate" into other uses! I now have a very happy -sweater wearing- husband! The only problem is: Now he and my son wants more! So again! Big thank you's from Denmark!!! :) Ps. Love that even you can still learn new things. Then there is hope for the rest of us! ;)
You are so welcome MissMouse and thank you for this kind comment and for watching. I hope you'll come to cherylbrunette.com and join my email newsletter group if you haven't done so already. That's where I'm in closest touch with knitters.
Cheryl, thanks so much for these videos. They helped me a lot in making my first sweater but now I'm wondering how to make sweaters with set in sleeves and raglan sweaters. Is there any chance in continuing this series with those additions? Also, I would be interested in different collars other than the one with the button bands. Again, these videos were wonderful and very helpful!
+Martina F You are so welcome Martina. The variations you request are explained in my book, Sweater 101. I invite you to join my knitting group at cherylbrunette.com and you can purchase Sweater 101, which has been in print since 1991 and has helped thousands of knitters including many now-famous designers, is at sweater101.com.
Helow Chery l, thank you for your wise 14 knitting lessons . I have just finnished The Polo sweater and it is perfec ! I was a begginer and before following your videos I only made scarfs. Now I feel more confident and capable to start my own projet. Thank you again and sorry for the orthography.
You are so welcome and I am happy that you made a perfect sweater! Are you on my newsletter mailing list yet at cherylbrunette.com? If not, please join us.
Thank you so much for this wonderful series of videos! As a visual person I really appreciated your approach. In fact I am so pleased with my grandchild's sweater that I would like to make a dropped shoulder sweater for myself( size 34). However my hips are larger than my bust and I am afraid that by increasing the circumference the top will be too large. What would you recommend in this case? I would also like to do a V- neck. How would I go about changing the neck line or the placket into a V-neck? Would you have any recommendations or resources?
You've got all the information you need to do what you want in Sweater 101. Look at page 39. Just modify the shape to flare a little at the bottom and don't reduce the ribbing sts by 10%. Then p. 70 addresses how to design a V-neck! I'm excited for you.
+Gerrit Jannes Wonderful Gerrit. Come to cherylbrunette.com and join my email newsletter group to be in the loop of the people I really listen to about their knitting concerns.
Hi Cindy. Thank you for commenting. What is it, exactly, that you're having trouble with? Is the gauge of the garment different from the gauge of your swatch? How so? Is it longer, tighter? Looser? Does this happen with all fibers? Cotton? Wool? Sport weight? Bulky weight? I might be able to help you if I have more details.
MultiNexttoyou Holy cow! No. Are you going through the sweater101.com/ website? It does not accept shipping to places outside the U.S. but my Amazon listing does.

Love your class, but I still have so much trouble with gauge. Also I "for the life of me" cannot knit in the round with DPN's...urghhh
how do I buy the sweater 101? I try to pay and after I click on the pay pal button. the instruction came up all in Chinese. Are you selling via China
