Rob you have got to put out more videos. Your content and cinematics is unparalleled in my opinion on RUclips. I’ve watched both your western United States series several times. Keep up the good work and if it’s in your plans to do it full time you’ll have an audience waiting!
I nearly went with the Alpicool on amazon a year ago and ended up finding a good deal on an Iceco VL series. Thing is built like a tank and has been incredibly efficient for its size, looking back after seeing videos like this makes me so glad I went with the Iceco. Still half the price of "name brand" fridges in most cases and mine has not let me down so far. I got a Jackery 500 to power it and during the summer it is more than enough power to keep the Iceco going and charge everyday with solar. Even without solar it would last multiple days before dying. Great content man, videos like this were exactly what I was looking for when trying to make an informed decision with something as costly as a fridge set up for my rig. Your videos have already helped me come up with out of the box ideas for additions to my rig and handy things to have for lengthy camp trips, thanks for putting out awesome stuff!
A year ago last May, I bought an Ausranvik 54 quart refrigerator/freezer for $369. I bought this one because the lid hinged on the long side and the display was on the lid in plain sight. It replaced a Coleman thermocouple cooler that had stopped working. It is located in my kitchen area and I use the freezer settings. It is 110 AC, 12/24 volt cooler. For a long time I used my Rockpals 300w generator to power up using the 12 volt cigarette lighter plug. I have now switched over to 110 volt AC. It works fine, I have no complaints.
I have found that the cheaper units will work for 90% of the people, 8% need the better quality, & 2% need the best quality. Most units live 95% of the time in storage. I own two Engel frig’s that I bought dirt cheap from people that had them stored for years with out using them. Good info & thanks for posting.
I actually laughed out loud regarding the "children" comment. Good stuff. I personally own an Iceco....all the good internals without the ARB, ect cost.
We have the Iceco JP40 and love it. Zero problems after 70 days of use. Quiet, efficient, and easy to use. It just aced several days in the Mojave. We’ve found the power cutoff voltage selector to be spot on which has been really useful on a couple extended days of use on a primary vehicle battery. The only thing we don’t like is that the cover zipper feels cheap and a bit snaggy but it was included for free when we bought it and is still works so we can’t really complain.
I have been using the Stakol for two years. I have had it running every day since I bought it (use it as garage fridge when not over landing) and love it. It does fluctuate in temp, but I bought a thermal cover and it helps a lot to regulate temperature and reduce power drain on my Goal Zero Yeti 400. When traveling I keep the Yeti charged with a 100W solar panel and it works very well.
Greg P about 24 to 30 hours, but if you have a solar panel or 12 volt in your vehicle you can go a long time, like days and days. In the cold months I save batter power and unplug it at night and the ambient temps keep it cool and plug it back in in the am.
Danfoss was purchased in by Secop a few years ago, they moved production from Germany to China, I work on boat refrigerators and coolers like this and can't say that I have not seen any quality problems since they went to China, but I can say that the price didn't go down even though i'm sure their cost did.
@@RevereOverland No, as far as I know they are the best, I work on Dometic, Vitrifrigo, Norcold, Isotherm and others, they all use the same compressor. The compressors last forever, usually the system leaks refrigerant or the power module goes bad long before the compressor.
Good short review. Not too technical. Kept it to the necessary basics. Thanks. I have been eyeing the Iceco for a while but was checking out the Costway as well. I think the Iceco is worth every extra penny. More bang for your buck as a mid range priced fridge. I have started a YT channel aiming at “jeeping” content for the northeast. Pete’s Jeep Adventures. After letting my new JP50 sit for 24 hours after delivery, as recommended by the manufacturer... it has a really annoying high pitch sound from the compressor area. Contacted Iceco, sent them a video and they are sending me a replacement. Happy with customer service, yes... but quality control should have addressed this before packaging the fridge up. A few other users have had this issue, but from my conversations over the phone with Iceco, they say this has never happened. The 12v cigarette plug also doesn't like any of the six outlets I've plugged into. The connection is extremely loose. Again, this also is an ongoing issue that many Iceco customers have had with this particular connector. I'll update my comment if and when the replacement arrives. Fingers crossed 🤞
Great video. I was able to snag a cheaper Amazon fridge on Amazon prime day. I insulated it with refectix and it performs extremely well. Very surprising! hi, we're a professional manufacturer producing car refrigerators, ice makers etc., do you interest to try them? Really hope we can talk and we will not let you down, thank you.
30-day warranty is basically an "infant mortality" warranty. As in, it works when delivered, and doesn't fail within the first day or week of use. Most things that fail will either fail really soon in their lifespan due to manufacturing defects, or will last a decent while. Beyond that (1yr), the cost of a longer warranty coverage really is factored into a higher sale price.
I just got done talking to them. I think they’re going to lend me one to compare, but I want to get some form of giant incubator so I can really push them!
@@lumbee799 I can't even find snomaster here, but every Iceco is more than $1000, and the "cheapo" fridges are about $500. So despite what he says in this video, on my local amazon store there's a nearly $700 difference between the 2 fridges he shows, so there's no way I could justify the iceco
I looked at all of these and bought a $130 dorm fridge. If you have solar and a battery bank the extra power used is not a lot. I think mine pulls 6 amps when running. Going on two years with it. Worst thing about it is if it is not full things tend to fall out after a trip and opening the door. I used the money difference on more solar and battery. 300 watts solar and 300 Ah battery.

hi, we're a professional manufacturer producing car refrigerators, ice makers etc., do you interest to try them? Really hope we can talk and we will not let you down, thank you.
DO NOT BUY THE ROUGH COUNTRY FRIDGE IS AN AMAZON BRAND WITH THERE LOGO ON IT.
30 days warranty on the compressor is a joke.
It is. To be fair, it has lasted just fine without the warranty!
30-day warranty is basically an "infant mortality" warranty. As in, it works when delivered, and doesn't fail within the first day or week of use. Most things that fail will either fail really soon in their lifespan due to manufacturing defects, or will last a decent while. Beyond that (1yr), the cost of a longer warranty coverage really is factored into a higher sale price.
you get what you pay for
One word...SnoMaster.
I just got done talking to them. I think they’re going to lend me one to compare, but I want to get some form of giant incubator so I can really push them!
Every SnoMaster is more than $1000 except their 12L (yes 12 liters). Two ICECO's or one SnoMaster? Easy decision.
@@lumbee799, yep, SnoMaster.
Iceco customer service is wack. Unscrupulous business practices also.
Still very very cheap.
Engel is my brand ,goodbye to china
They are ugly! I’ll pay the extra money for the Iceco, but I want an American flag cover kit.
Just so you know, the discount code "Revere" does not work, makes me sad.
Great review. 🤙
