Your correct the C-Ring remover tool is a must, i have seen too much blood spilled using the screwdrivers not to mention losing the C-Ring in the shop and i only purchased the replacement drive gear instead of the kit which comes with all the replacement parts. B&S should sponsor your channel you do excellent videos.
Thanks you the parts numbers . I think I will get the remover tool. it a lot better then trying to find the c ring after it fly's some were in the shop. thanks Bob
EP: It looks like possibly a standard E type clip would work in the place of the OE C clip, have you ever tried such ??? If ya took calipers and measured the O.D. of the cut down part of the shaft along with the WIDTH of the groove we might could find an alternative! ??
I am using a snowblower engine B & S 11 HP for a horizontal sawmill I built. Now it had a 120V starter but since I will only be using it in summer like conditions I would like to replace it (it seems to have died and doesn't work) with a 12V starter. if I find the correct type of starter that will fit my engine will that be workable?
@@EliminatorPerformance I am rebuilding a tecumseh carburetor and need to seat the small ring. There is a tool for this that I don't have. How else can I do it?
B&S complete starters run from $27.15 to $45.00 in a google search, the total for those tools $165.21, so I could buy a NEW complete starter for less that the tools to fix the problem, I ran into this when trying to justify the tools for my starter. Maybe a big shop could justify.

Absolutely, that's why I recommend the remover, so simple to use. As I said, the installer can be substituted for some pliers Thanks for watching!
Very nice video. I have lost lots of skin from my fingers over the years using picks, screwdrivers etc. Many Thanks

No because the c-ring fits inside the retainer, don't think and E clip would work on this application. Thanks for watching!
My friend made a installer tool out of pvc pipe and hack sawed a spint in it
Works ok
What is the part number for the C-ring? Thanks

So over $200 for 2 tools just to remove and install the c-ring lol. How much is a new starter? Excellent video though, thank you.
Great video. Thank you.
Can you suggest after market options?
No sorry, I haven't found any aftermarket ones. try eBay maybe

Good day Interesting video. I think the remover might come in handy, but not the installer. Thanks for now

I paid 55 and 65 so with tax was about $135
Like I said, the remover was work it, but I ended up buying both to try them out!
I bought mine like 50 years ago. Cheap back then
I got these tools but can’t remember where I put them
Dang old age
Great video love the topic , I think the price is way too much for these tools .
Yea I'd agree, definitely a rip off from an OEM! Aftermarket tools could make a huge profit cutting in. Thanks for watching!
Yep but it’s better than getting hurt or infection
Think about ER cost ??
Yep I’ve seen serious injuries trying to get it off
It’s a great tool and worth the dam high price
👍
Without the special tools you’ll stab your severely lolol
I got the tools because of fighting it every week
Outch! These prices are really exaggerating
Yes the Amazon prices are very high, thanks for watching!
The B&S prices are outrageous
