Your correct the C-Ring remover tool is a must, i have seen too much blood spilled using the screwdrivers not to mention losing the C-Ring in the shop and i only purchased the replacement drive gear instead of the kit which comes with all the replacement parts. B&S should sponsor your channel you do excellent videos.

Absolutely, that's why I recommend the remover, so simple to use. As I said, the installer can be substituted for some pliers Thanks for watching!

EP: It looks like possibly a standard E type clip would work in the place of the OE C clip, have you ever tried such ??? If ya took calipers and measured the O.D. of the cut down part of the shaft along with the WIDTH of the groove we might could find an alternative! ??

No because the c-ring fits inside the retainer, don't think and E clip would work on this application. Thanks for watching!

I am using a snowblower engine B & S 11 HP for a horizontal sawmill I built. Now it had a 120V starter but since I will only be using it in summer like conditions I would like to replace it (it seems to have died and doesn't work) with a 12V starter. if I find the correct type of starter that will fit my engine will that be workable?

So over $200 for 2 tools just to remove and install the c-ring lol. How much is a new starter? Excellent video though, thank you.

@@EliminatorPerformance I am rebuilding a tecumseh carburetor and need to seat the small ring. There is a tool for this that I don't have. How else can I do it?

Good day Interesting video. I think the remover might come in handy, but not the installer. Thanks for now

B&S complete starters run from $27.15 to $45.00 in a google search, the total for those tools $165.21, so I could buy a NEW complete starter for less that the tools to fix the problem, I ran into this when trying to justify the tools for my starter. Maybe a big shop could justify.

I paid 55 and 65 so with tax was about $135
Like I said, the remover was work it, but I ended up buying both to try them out!

Yea I'd agree, definitely a rip off from an OEM! Aftermarket tools could make a huge profit cutting in. Thanks for watching!
