- A bit of Mexican history has made port in San Diego. KPBS Video Journalist Matthew Bowler shows us the Mexican Navy ship the ARM Cuauhtémoc. You can visit and go on board the Cuauhtémoc through May 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., free of charge; a gift from the Mexican Government.
That is a beautiful tall ship. Absolutely gorgeous.
What a beautiful sight! Good job to my brothers and sisters from Mexico. Love from the Philippines!
thank you mi pacman, respects from Zapopan
THANK YOU BROTHER, YOUR BROTHER FROM MEXICO. Salamat Po
Thank you Mexico, she's amazing.
I saw and visited this ship in Istanbul in summer. I talked to sailors too. It was good experience. They even make free burritos in ship:) Its huge. It's for training for young sailors.
I visited on Sunday, no free burrito 🌯😅 Mariachi band but it was a glorious sunset
Free Burritos ?
🤔
Viva Mexico cabrones🇲🇽
A huevoooo 👏🏽🌶️🇲🇽
Cuando acaben con los terroristas del cartel, entonces todos diran viva México. Por lo pronto, no hay nada para ser orgullosos.
I had the privilege of exploring its interior as a kid, on a school trip in Acapulco.
It's not only beautiful, but the discipline of the personnel is outstanding.
Acapulco is Mexico navy base?
@@WorldCitizenW The whole port is not, but there is a base with a dock for the warships of the Mexican Navy.
There is so much more to Mexico then what the mainstream media reports. Thank you PBS
Using the navy to bring destruction and misfortune:🤓
Using the navy to spread hope and positivity: 🍷🗿
God bless México
🇧🇷🤝🇲🇽
It’s a moving historical cultural museum
It is heartwarming to see those two brother's united after so many years.
Este video muestra el lado positivo de Mexico no todo es negativo deberian de ponerlo en otros canales de TV.
♥️🇲🇽 "Mexico lindo y querido"
As an American it hurts my heart that our Goverment is more obsessed with problems around the world than, than having a good relationship with our own neighbors.
Isn't that a beautiful ship.
Yes, she is !
How about the fellas that built her, a labor of love. Those who sailed her, brimming with pride...
And we can't forget the thousands of smiles and awe struck little ones seeing a ship like her.
A beautiful ship indeed ! 🙂
Que orgullo!
She’s a beautiful vessel, hopefully they kept her going for decades to come.
Its like reverse tourism, who wouldnt want that visiting their port, its glorious
The cadets told me the next stop is 14 days voyage to Hawaii after that Tokyo, Shanghai and Polynesian 😊
Viva México cabrones!!! 🇲🇽
A wiwi
What a beautiful ship with a beautiful message. I cried when the two brother's hugged each other. I'm one whose good at hiding my emtions. I'd like to see more news segments like this in such turbulent times. It gives me hope!

Thanks youtube for recommending me this video the day after its last day on the port :/
The Three Amigos ride again!!
Perfect for filming the next 'Pirates' movie.
🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽Viva Mexico
That tall ship just docked at home.
True!
Well! it’s like the saying goes.. poor Mexico, too far from God… too close to the US!. 😫
@@alpaz7634it’s too far from god because Mexico is hell 😫
Nope lol, maybe if Mexico was better it would still be Mexico
@@loganbaileysfunwithtrains606 true but at least it gave the Americans a good fight and no one can deny that. 👍
Love it. Im happy to see this report.
Awesomeness!!!!
When my brother hugged me, after 14 years, he started crying, but I didn’t feel anything at the moment; it was 3 nights later that I realized, one of my dreams came true, and I started to cry like a baby. 😊
What a beautiful ship! Wish I had a chance to see it in person.
Using the Three Amigos for the thumbnail, priceless.....
The Ambassador and Gentleman of the Seas
Seems to be in the wrong time!? Popeye would be proud.
HA HA!!
you're obviously not familiar with those ships. must countries have a few.
Awesome ship!
Tall Ships are Beautiful
1:35 Dammmmn, can’t take my eyes off that baddie to the right! Hahaha
That’s my gurl dawg she don’t know it tho 😅
Same 😅
Mee too😂😂
This is the first time I’ve heard or seen this ship. How can I get more info on it.
You can google it but must of the webpages and official webpages are in Spanish.
This ship was built in Bilbao, Spain in 1981 and originally called Celaya but they changed the name and now It’s Cuauhtémoc.
By the way this is not only a Ship but a school. Cuauhtémoc was acquired by the Mexican Navy as a training vessel for officers, cadets, petty officers and sailors.
@@ZuyinLuy I'm surprised to learned that there are 19 female cadets there when I asked one of them on Sunday 😊
@@WorldCitizenW Wow that’s great!
I’m glad you had a chance to see this amazing Ship and I hope you enjoyed it. By the way, of the 261 crew members, 208 are men and 53 are women, making it the largest number of female elements that will sail on the ship, also known as 'Knight of the Seas' 😉
looks easy to sink
Beautiful so much more than our modern ships
Viva Mexico cabrones.🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️🇲🇽.
Mexico! 💪🇲🇽💪
Every where they go the bring mariachi music?
Why not? It's an ambassador ship😊
I followed much of your trip to Europe via ship finder
¡¡ Chulada !!

Wow 🤩 that’s awesome
I would like to see that some day and those two brothers that got to see each other🙏🏽🍺
Viva Mexico!!! 🇲🇽 🚢
FANTASTIC! Periodically, there used to be gatherings of tall ships from navies around the world for special occasions. I don't remember the most recent, but IIRC, there was a gathering back in 1976 in New York Harbor for the US Bicentennial of our Independence.
VIVA MEXICO!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Viva mexico ❤😢
I look up to the Mexican culture and pieceful living, we all can learn from them .
Especially our currupt and criminal politicians
Are you restarted? Mexico is full of corrupt and criminal politicians lmfao

Might be better to use a thumbnail of the actual ship, I keep seeing this thumbnail thinking it's a video for the movie, "The Three Amigos".
What a beautiful ship, a true piece of history.
Check it for drugs and migrants before it docks.
yo what about that baddie at 1:38 tho
How old are you
O'Kelly's Yacht?
I went to Mexico and was not treated as politely and welcoming so Mexico is not my preference. Spain is my cup of tea.
They took the idea from the Spanish vessel Juan Sebastián de Elcano! 🇪🇸 🇲🇽
1:36 …. Why…. Why would you call that beautiful ship a “boat”?
They might as well come here since they are the main reason we are being invaded. I’m Mexican but I don’t like that shi. I could only stay 2 weeks max in Mexico. It’s depressing af!
Maybe do something about the corruption..
Is this a u.s.a. citizen talking about corrupción? Funny.
Why do you need ships when you can swim across the border?
You ancestor cross the ocean.
80 kilos of fetty below deck.
She's beautiful!
Ours are better and original. And not for promoting illegal immigration.
I'm from Mexico and I had never seen this ship or advertising project before, or at least as far as I can remember. I pretty much like the idea of showing some friendliness and ethnic authenticity to people from other countries, but the whole concept falls apart when foreigners don't respect us nor trust us due to our out-of-control problems of corruption, violence and organized crime. Hopefully we'll soon have a good government that starts putting everything back together again, and it won't be a leftist government like the one we've had since 2018.
Also, what I don't like is that my fellow Mexicans dress up as mariachis because they know they'll make foreigners smile doing that, but nobody really dresses like that in Mexico on a daily basis, and the mariachi tradition (along other decent Mexican traditions) is losing ground to horrendous narcoculture. It's more common to see people dress up like a drug mafioso (which has its particular look: Cowboy hat, ostentatious buttoned shirt with a golden chain around the neck, cowboy boots, something like that) than a mariachi.
Mexico is not what it used to be...
Are you even from here? None anywhere dresses like a mariachi casually, it's for celebration. You can hire a mariachi band to play at any event in the country.
@@dulcecelestepalacios5194Obviously he is not from Mexico. It’s a troll
What are you talking about? Mexico is not what it used to be? You do realize that Mexico has a very bloody history, it always has and not likely always will be. I'm Mexican and I know this.
Mariachi is a part of Mexico and a part of the music, or at least it's a style that is still used for special occasions. There is nothing quite like saving up money and getting a mariachi to play for your parents.
@@PC-tan England and France also have a very violent history, so what. Mexico has changed a lot and it still has a problem with violence. Both can be true at the same time. Compared to the rest of the world Mexico is not doing that bad.
@@AM-yi4dd Yes, I'm from Mexico. You don't know me, so your false accusation turns you into the troll, here. Puedo hablar español porque es mi lengua materna.
I thought I saw lucky day and dusty bottoms on that boat.

Mexico's most advanced naval vessel.
When all the eléctrical goes fry, it will be the most advance.
And she came through blasting music in true Mexican fashion, just missing the shitty subwoofers 😂

It’s the 3 Amigos. There is a plethora of funny lines in that movie.
Do they check customs?
Mexico has a navy?
Half of u.s.a navy is mexican, so mexico has two navys.
Ah yes this small ship shall defeat the cartels
AND? WHY IS THIS NEWS?
Cuz its a cool cultural event, you dont see the news too often, do you?
Maybe you should make your country more like your ship

If that ship is representative of the Mexican navy they have really trouble. At least put a motor in it?
It's a dang sail ship.
😄 its Mexicos only tall ship.. They have modern vessels like the one that passes by. This ship is meant to show cadets (officers) how to navigate around the world the old school way, without GPS systems.
