The Pogues star Shane MacGowan dies

- Musician and singer Shane MacGowan, best known as the frontman of The Pogues, has died at the age of 65.
His wife Victoria Mary Clarke said in a post on Instagram: "Shane will always be the light that I hold before me and the measure of my dreams and the love of my life."

I’m amazed he made it to 65. This fella lived a full life and partied like it was gonna be his last day. What a legend, his music will live on forever.

'Fairytale of New York' is the most honest Christmas song ever written and 35 years after its release still brings a lump to my throat. Nothing else come close.
Australians might say How To Make Gravy is as good or better but it's definitely a great song. I was always most fond of Dirty Old Town.

I saw the Pogues at Liverpool University in 1985. Absolutely brilliant night. Still remember it like it was yesterday and I'm an OAP!
