Shane has lived harder and faster than ten people put together. So forget the sermons on his drinking. He's pure genius and made his choices. God bless you Shane and may you live to be a 110!
Shane was quite simply Irelands finest songwriter to Quote the Boss , we will be listening to his songs on 100 years time, only now after he has gone do we really appreciate his genius, so glad I saw him play many times from the mid 80s to the Pouges last gig, his music will live forever, and as the sunset came to meet the evening on the hill , I told you I'd always love you, I always did , I always will , Rip Shane 🙏
Shane representing Pittsburgh, I have never heard of shane macgowan until his passing or the pouges, and I'd never thought I'd like all these pub songs.
I'm a Dylan and Leonard Cohen fan from Canada. Very late finding Shane. Oooooh, but what a find. Now I'm a big fan of Shane too. Awesome songwriter poet. Drunk or not loving his singing 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍Lone Wolf :)
@deadbutdreaming look at townes van zandt he was a drunk. Talented song writer. So you use of critical think is worthless lol. But the fact that alcoholism leads to higher depression and some fun emotions there is a lot to help with lyrics.

I just heard the sad news. I was literally just telling my brother how I couldn't believe that man was still alive and then when I went to look up some songs to send my brother I learned the sad news. It took me by surprise and I honestly didn't expect to feel this way about it. But he's one of the most lovable people I've ever seen 🥺💔
What’s the saying? “Better to burn out than fade away” that’s our Shane, his body may have given out but his soul/spirit and lust for life never will. Love you Shane and Victoria ❤
Have listened to Shane McGowan's songs and his bands music a long time, I can honestly say the man is a feckin genius who can write meaningful songs straight from the heart. Thanks for the pleasure keep em rolling.
Shane takes his place with Behan Shaw, O'Casey, Joyce, Yeats, Kavanagh and Beckett. Dispite all the mayhem look at the legacy he has left us, he's eaned his place right there with the best of them.
The man is legend. Saw the Pogues at the Guinness Festival at Suffolk Downs years ago. Shane was a half hour late, he finally pulled up, got out of the car...following a few beer cans falling out to the ground. This was the last song of the night. The whole crowd was singing along, it was fkn epic!
Shane is a genius, a talent like his comes along once in a lifetime. He lives a hard life that perhaps contributes to his genius, all I know is when I hear Shane singing I am happy.

I just came to say what an incredible singer Shane is. Wherever he is,i like to think he has us in his heart, all bunched up and drunk, singing and bumping into each other.
Le sourire de Shane MacGowan à toujours fait partie de sa musique. On ne peut pasl'imaginer autrement. Le sourire de Shane nous dit tout. C'est sa signature. Il love you so.
Shane can make you feel words he writes,he really knows how to convey his feelings, just a great talent, and a classic example of the blessing & the curse
The Pogues version of The Band Played Waltzing Matilda is proof positive of what you wrote. His voice in that song just conveys so much feeling. Makes a grown man cry if I am in just the right mood. Especially after several beer.
@@patrickcallahan9599 Yeah I’m really sure that he does but like I said I just came across him and An for some reason this song was recommended to me as I was watching a Pittsburgh Penguins game and he’s wearing a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey just a coincidence I guess but thanks for the information
Still can’t believe he’s gone. Being Scottish living in London, Philippines and Japan his music and poetic words have always kept the nostalgia for my homeland intact. F*cking politicians who made sure there was nothing for young people except the road to London and beyond.
way back in the 80s, I was dropping a friend off at auckland airport. We were sharing a drink in the departure lounge ( it was possible then). Who should be pre gaming it but Shane macgowan? as usual he was drunk off his arse and getting drunker as we watched. We invited him over to our table and sat drinking with him. He had bouts of nastiness but at his core he was a sweet , lonely soul who just wanted to be with people and be lliked. I will always remember that afternoon.
today each so called Western European pay his own drink and we from the South and East of Europe are like WTF !!! leave it we would pay all table cheap fuckers ;)
Amazing Shane! Will always be the best in my heart. Honesty raw Honesty 💯 love the man's talent. He's made it through some pretty hard times but always bounces back. I can't stand people who say anything bad regarding him. He's never hidden anything from people. We all love you so. Missing my homeland.
Beautiful words. Bob Dylan recently played in 3 Arena in Dublin, he gave a special mention to one of his favourite songwriters, one Shane Patrick Lysaght MacGowan. Dylan requested the Pogues support him in the US in the 80's so it's legit.
Nobody loves Shane more than i do, look again, his drink could be at other side of the bar, dont think he even realized what shirt he was even wearing in that video.lol
Agreed. Saw them at Suffolk Downs in East Boston, at the Guinness Festival back in '97. The Bostones, STP, Counting Crows. Shane showed up late...hammered of course. He still stole the show with this song!
RIP Shane MacGowan. ❤ You were gift to us all.
