Superhero-obsessed Kaden Casebolt has a rare condition which causes his bones to break as easily as a ‘glass doll’. But despite his physical fragility, the spirited five-year-old loves nothing more than dressing up as comic book hero Iron Man or ‘Man of Steel’ Superman. Kaden, from Dallas, Texas, has a brittle bone condition that means his bones can shatter simply by sneezing, but won’t let anything hold him back. Despite suffering over 40 fractures since birth, he enjoys play fighting, dancing and singing, playing his guitar and racing around on his specially adapted bike with his mum, Valorie Salsman, dad, Kelby Casebolt and stepdad, Benjamin Herzog.

I love how the parents in this are so supportive of their son and still support each other desire now going their separate ways. I love how they didn't let this interfere with their child's happiness and how the father actually even talks about the step parent with no remorse or malice. That's a sign of some really beautiful people- those who really care about their little boy and don't need to throw an ex under the bus but rather co parent and be civil towards each other.

My older sister has this condition. She doesn't live with us but the times we do see her she's either in hospital or in a wheelchair. Its heart breaking to see her how she is, she's only 18 and she's engaged and has such a bright future. But her bones break at random. Not too long ago she fell and twisted her leg almost all the way round and a month ago she was sitting with her fiancees dog, and he called the dog so she put her arm out to stop the dog jumping on her legs and the dog fractured her shoulder blade. Her leg hasnt healed for 2 years. She keeps a positive outlook and life though, and so she should. Idk man I just respect people with this condition a lot more now I knnow someone with it.
would taking collagen (type 2 or 4? i can't recall which type) help the bones gain density?
worstalentscout I honestly have no clue. I don't see her too much and I don't know what she could take to help
help your sis by doing up some reading.....it's either type 1, 2 or 4 collagen that builds bone density...........you'll find the info probably within an hour............these type of supplements are available via online retailers like iherb

i understand it's a genetic problem but nothing to lose by trying supplements which may improve her health in other ways........to build bone density, you also also need silica, magnesium citrate (most cost effective), vitamin D3, boron, etc............go see earthclinic.com and curezone.org (search the alphabetical forums) for useful info on bone density and numerous other health conditions......

Gabe_RH sane I’m 11 and have type 1. It totally sucks not being able to have as much as a normal life as my friends. I have broken 14-17 bones in my life and I still hate it. As a result of displacing my tibia and breaking it and my fibula as well I may have to have surgery to correct my tibial torsion.

I feel bad for the boy but ask his parents. Little kids want to run around and play and the fact that he can’t do that’s is heart breaking. And that his bones break like glass must be very hard to deal with. His parents could have busy jobs and keeping an eye on him would be very difficult know u could be in the ER in a couple of minutes very easily. Respect for the parents for not getting the abortion and giving this kid a happy life
Chris Topher I grew up with the same condition just not as bad as him. I walk fine and am not in a wheel chair but I've broken bones just by falling off the couch and it did hurt growing up and seeing kids do sports and play outside knowing I couldn't but you do find cool ways to have fun

Angela Annalese I'm disabled. Not from birth, it started in adulthood. So that is why my opinion is that the parents are cruel to do this to their child when they had the knowledge that he would live a life of constant physical pain. I would not wish this life on anyone, least of all a child. It's really sad. And selfish. Should have thought more about his quality of life than their need to procreate. And they could have always tried again. None of those decisions would have been easy to make, but there was a better way.
