I had a Navy Boatswain's Mate First Class teach me how to tie a bowline just as quickly. Both are good knots to learn to tie with a flick of the wrist for quick rescue.
The perfection loop is a different knot. See animated knots for how to tie that one. This is the tugboat bowline, flying bowline, thrown bowline, or as of a few years now, the Moana knot.

Let me say here's where i disagree. I know how to tie a bowline in my sleep. That knot while looking cool ive never tied. Under duress i believe go with what you know! I will try this one but its hard to beat muscle memory from many many years of doing one task. But learning something new is always great. Im really not disagreeing as sharing a perspective. Great job not often i find something ive never seen .
I clocked it twice and started when you swung and stopped it when you reached full knot and with that said....2 seconds sir so you lied lmao love the videos tho

That’s fantastic, thanks for watching and for the comment!
Bravo Zulu
I like to learn knots like this to show off to folks in rescue that know 96 knots and 16 systems. The butterfly around an object is a fun one too.
😳 that was fast
Moana taught me this.. Actually a group of Portuguese fisherman. No matter where you learn it , a super cool piece of knotcraft
That was pretty slick tho, give the man credit
I’ve always just called it the flying bowline knot, because it does essentially the same as a bowline but you tie it flying

It's actually the standing part he put his foot on. The working end is the tying part or working end. Thank you for the video.
