    What a game changer!!!!!!
    I was at the range this morning hitting weak fades with about 230 yards carry with 158mph ball speed. I watched this video and went straight to the range for a quick half an hour driver session using this video for guidance and no word of a lie 268 carry with a total of 289 yards at the same ball speed as before. What a gem of a video!!!!!!!!

    Nothing against RB and Mike but the way Mac hits the ball really is the “Tour Experience” of this channel. Love to come out here for the pure data and pure shots with Ian’s nuggets of knowledge that really help me out when I’m hitting on my simulator setup

    This is 100% my issue I hit spinny drivers! I noticed Mac sets his driver way behind the ball and I think I'm going to try this. I'm stuck between moving my ball further up in my stance to promote an upward strike but it also seems to bring in more of a pull/deloft through impact feel.
    Makes sense the bottom of your swing should be before you get to the ball.

    What should be a feel through the ball hitting up and delofting the face? Should one release the clubhead? Or hold the shaft lean? Which is the right feel to put into your swing?

    This video is super helpful. Trying to get away from a draw because when it’s off, it’s way off. Feels like once the hook comes up it is super hard to get rid of on the course in the same day. Especially when you’re in a 9 hole league and only pulling the driver out 4 to 5 times a round. The explanation of the feels Mac uses is super helpful. Feels like that’s really applicable.

    So glad I discovered Mac. Not as talented as him (not even close) but I flirt with single digit handicap depending on how much I am playing, however very similar in terms of style. When I am in trouble I can sling balls left (I’m righty), I know how to shot shape, just not consistent with it yet. I too have a very high hands finish. However I am a Former baseball player, with tour average+ swing speeds. I too used to be a big drawer with my driver. During COVID didn’t get to play much and then all of a sudden, I was a fader. As soon as I heard Mac say his miss was a “block cut” I was like wow. Been fighting that for all of 2022. This video was great. My best rounds are when I hit a big soft fade, and my worst are when I fight it. Why not just play it? Great video. Going to put this to work.

    One of the greatest investments in my game I've ever made was to buy one of those $600 launch monitors and hitting into a net in my garage. You will see the numbers and it will shock you seeing the distance difference between a solid hit and a poor hit. Smash factor is critical...and you learn to hit will enough backspin to actually stop a ball on the green...if you can afford it, buy one....then go to someone like Ian for a proper fitting and you're golden. You will be amazed at the improvement if you spend a week just hitting one club...amazing.

    This changes everything in my approach to hitting a driver! Even though this is my natural shot shape and I can see most pros using this push/fade swing, I was convinced I couldn't swing fast enough to get the distance to overcome the sidespin, therefore trying to force a draw swing path. Little did I know working harder at squaring club face, changing AOA, and centering club contact but leaving my swing the same could get me there. Another keeper in Bookmarks!!! My TXG Bookmark library has been increasing significantly recently!!!😂

  • @user_1664
    @user_1664 9 месяцев назад

    This is great and should be pressed home much more often , ive struggled and struggled for years to get the right to left shot that my body just will not do .
    Ive given up and just gone with allowing a full power swing and working on killing the spin and its been a pleasure , not to mention the added yards and accuracy 👍.
    The graphics are a little misleading , you have it set at face to path and it shows open when really face to target is closed - i think an important ingredient here - the ball past the toe position you get when this open aids a closed face with an upward strike ( to target)
    With that in mind i actually find im aiming left side to get a fade that brings the ball back to centre .
    Ive found and it may just be me that a lighter shaft has helped my confidence through impact with this my natural path .

    Great video lads. Looks like Mac is getting more comfortable and offering more insight. It was very helpful to hear some of his comments on why he sets up the way he does so his hips don’t get stuck and his visual path of swinging towards his lead foot. That was really cool. I would not have thought of that.

    I was a range addict last year spraying driver all over the place. Joined Douglaston this year (one of the tightest golf course in Scotland), where that power fade is crucial and had to learn how to do this on the course. For instance the first hole is 263 off the yellows. But sweeps off to the right round the high pine trees. I can green it now using this technique. Same with the second hole. It's 324 off the yellow, but there's a massive fir tree on the centre of the fairway about 200 out, so you need to bend it round the tree. With no options, you need to do what your brain wants. Skinniest part of the tree (top) and go round it. So it's a power fade, which is amazing when you pull it off.

    For most of my golfing journey, I have lived in the low heel of my Driver face. But working with a new Coach we have moved my strike pattern into the high toe area. We are now working on moving the strike a little nearer to the centre, when I manage it the feel & sound of the strike is amazing! I'm too old to be hitting bombs, but turning 200yard drives into 220yard drives is a result for me👍

    I swing just above 100 mph on average so I normally cruise in the mid-high 140s. My stock shot is a draw, tends to launch at 12-13/2100/ 4.5 up/3.5 i/o that goes 255 carry 270-275 total. Over the past year I've worked on what I call my bullet cut. I tee it up a touch lower, focus on a full turn back and firing hard left through contact. The result is 11/2300/2.5 up/.5 i/o that carries about 240 but rolls out to 275 or further. Def a nice one to have when you need good distance down a tight hole.

Watching my numbers, I was neglecting that angle of attack for the driver which might explain my consistent backspin numbers around 3200 with an elevation of 19 degrees! Strike almost centre, swing speed 95 mph and carry around 235, I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go further. My next session will be all about angle of attack. :)

    Late to the party here, but a question for you - When I play the low-spin fade off the tee (upward AoA, hold off the release, etc.), I tend to start push-fading my irons (natural shot shape is a draw) so it becomes an either/or proposition: I can hit good drivers or good irons, but seemingly not both. The alternative to preserve my iron swing is my natural driver swing path (I/O, more neutral AoA, slightly closed face) which leads to low-launching, super low-spinning hooks that are basically unplayable. Any advice? I am trying to keep my basic swing the same throughout the bag rather than effectively using two different swings (driver and everything else).

    conventional wisdom used to say a draw swing is more efficient and that we can swing faster with the draw mechanics. I have always been able to swing faster with a fade setup... is there a reasonable explanation for this? Or is it just a quirk in my movements?

    How do you prevent a driver feel (hitting up on the ball) from leaking into your irons where you want a more downward strike that's compressing the ball?

    • @WTPFirearms
      @WTPFirearms 2 года назад

      It's in the setup. Driver has a forward ball position, angled shoulders. Irons, the ball is relatively centered, shoulders are flat and square to the ball. With irons, you are should feel like you are almost falling to your left side (right handed golfer) even before you reach the top of your swing. Setup is key.

    I'm at a point where if I go after it, I get higher ball speed but my spin goes up a lot. If I just do a smooth bunty swing, my ball speed drops but the ball goes farther because the spin plummets by 1k revs. Not sure how to achieve the best of both worlds.

      You ever get fit for your driver? I had the same issues. Kept my driver head but changed the shaft and it has done wonders. I added 20-30 yards per drive. You may be able to do the same if you get the shaft and head right
