  • Today, Ian and Mikey are joined by Martin Chuck from the Tour Striker Golf Academy. Martin is one of the top instructors in the world and today he gives Mikey the parameters to gain serious speed.
Although a great majority of golfers think that in order to get a faster swing speed with their driver they need to swing harder. Martin shows off that many players have more in the tank than they recognize and utilizes his teaching skills that he uses daily by taking Mikey through a lesson to learn how to unleash serious speed.

Addressing the ball with the driver in the air then placing on the ground was an eye opener. It's crazy how something so simple can affect the golf swing. So many great tips in this video!

This point alone would probably correct face-path issues for a majority of golfers. WHY isn't it addressed when players first take up the game? Of course a clue like this might cost coaches/teachers a few lessons! ;-)

When Martin showed how the club moved toward the heel when the club head was lifted off the ground, that was nice to see being explained. I figured that out years ago on my own when I started using impact wax on the face of my driver and woods. While I figured it out years ago, I have not seen it shown by a golf instructor before as I recall. Nice Martin.

Fantastic video & lesson. That bit about forearm rotation made my jaw drop, somehow everything I have a major epiphany, youtube throws up a video confirming it. I used to have heel side strikes and that move gave me much more centred strikes and consistency of strike too. Its like the head tracks a path to the ball inside of hand-eye coordination to get the sweet spot.
Though I am wondering if we need more ulnar dev for irons (compression). Would be great to have a similar video but for irons, mid-long and perhaps even wood off the fairway.

This would of been great with Drew if he worked with Mikey and Mac also! And it looks like your not using any of the stuff Drew had you work on Ian? Im 3:59 in and I can tell you Mikey's set up has opposite tilt the balls to far back and he's aimed way right of the alignment stick which is no bueno when your swinging across it already.. Plus there is almost no load on the backswing it's almost a reverse hip slide which never creates speed. I know what Martin is saying about going after speed and losing playability with your driver for awhile because you'll hit some balls that add stress to your round but it's no fun playing when your driver flies 240 especially on wet fairways and 480+ yard par 4's
