    If u drill a hole and add some air line in the drain as close to the box as you can it will cut the drain noise down considerably.

    Yes, the LED driver (along with pretty much any LED driver, for that matter) is just an AC to DC converter, so they are all universal voltage. The Meanwell LPC-35-700 is 80-277V input compatible I believe.

    I under stand leds are mainly temperature specific... thats y i run a even mixture of CW 10k, 456nm blue, and WW leds on my ATS and refuge. I know adding afew 660nm reds are benefiting but i would have never thought running mostly them would be optimum spectrum.

    I tried this on a higher flow version. That only works to a certain extent. Adding an air line to the drain will silence the noise but at the cost of decreasing the flow. The issue with a enclosed scrubber with a drain is allowing enough flow through the device for proper algae growth while not causing tons of microbubbles. Turning the bottom drain into a full siphon by putting a valve on it is the answer, not an airline. The valve takes care of noise and bubbles without restricting flow.

    This version in this video is obsolete, the new version has the 2nd drain very low on the side to is acts as secondary drain in addition to the emergency function. The bottom drain with the valve becomes a tuned siphon, and the side drain is like an open channel, similar to what you would find in a BeanAnimal or Herbie drain system - it is dead silent and after a few weeks of running, it is bubble free as well. Plus, you can really crank up the flow - up to 600 GPH

    This is an outdated version actually, the new version is slightly smaller. 8.5" long, 6" wide, 6.5" tall, plus the lid (with cross braces, is another .75" tall)

    The prob I find with running anything else but 660nm is that they are too intense. You can cram 660s together and get nice even coverage, but throw in anything else inside of 660 or 400 and the intensity (radiant flux) goes way up, so you have to run them at lower power relative to the DRs. So I run the RBs in parallel within the series, they run at 350mA and the DRs at 700. Could do the same with CW/WW if you wanted to. I've sold >100 of these of various sizes all use DR+RB and work great

    Not magenta, 6x Deep Red 660nm and 1x 440-450nm Royal Blue. Now I make them with 2x RB at 1/2 power as full power RBs are too much and actually inhibit growth. WW are not the better spectrum, this only applies to fluorescent sources, which are based on mercury then shifted to visible light with remote phosphors. The primary components of fluorescent light are the deep red and blue-violet spectra. LEDs are element based so you have to use the LED that provides the specific bandwidth (cont...)

    Y are you running magenta leds and not warm white which puts off a better spectrum of light?

    (...continued) and while WW LEDs do provide some red, they are not primarily red and are not apples-to-apples comparable to CFL or T5HO "warm white" 2700K or 3000K. K ratings on LEDs are only there to give architects and lighting designers something to use to substitute for other sources, color temperature is for humans - not plants. Plus WW have little blue component. So for grow LEDs you need 660nm red and 440-455nm blue. Google LED plant grow lights. Thousands of them.

    since it and to fight algae, why not use a UV filter that eficieste more, cheaper and much simpler.

      A UV filter does not remove nutrients

    where did you get the LED's, Drivers and heat sink at?

      This is the first version I made, it used HeatSinkUSA heat sinks, Meanwell LPC-35-700 driver, and either Osram or Philips 660nm Deep Reds and either Cree or Philips 445-455nm Royal Blues. I now use the MakersLED heat sinks and all Philips LEDs.
