They've lived in that house for 50 years; that's more than enough time to make himself known to them, and therefore they would address him correctly, not as Casita. The fact that they call the house Casita and not Pedro or Papa or Abuelo proves that it's not him. If it WAS him, that would be devastating because nobody realizes it.
my theory was that his spirit became the candle and when he saw his family breaking apart he couldnt handle it and his spirit finally rested (when the candle burned out) but the last of his love for his family went back to the casita after it was rebuilt and came back as magic.
More evidence to back up this theory: -The door didn’t go blank; it’s invisible like his ghost -No one else is able to control Casita. It will interact with them, but only Mirabel can give commands -She wishes the painting of Pedro a good morning every day -“Mira” in Spanish means “see”, and some Psychic Mediums not only can hear, but can also see ghosts. Maybe the fact she needs glasses stops that?
I believe Mirabel's door went back into the house. Didnt disappear like she dont have a gift. I think her gift is to be the successor of abuela since she was the only one able to help everyone
