It's interesting... I'm looking for Mufasa in Dolby and it's missing. It's only showing in IMAX at my AMC theater, the only in my city. Nobody is in it. BUT I went to the regular screens, and they're packed! Weird.
I think there's something to say about the cultural capture that Disney has for the holiday season, even internationally. My own family was ONLY interested in the Mufasa or Moana 2 for a Christmas Day family outing because they thought it best fit the holiday theme (i.e. messages about family + some musical numbers). Neither of them are movies about the holiday season, but the nostalgia of Disney for the holidays may be what a lot of people like us were chasing
There is no fight. Disney just can’t handle people liking a movie they didn’t release more than one they did. All the offense to the so called fight has been from Disney. Sega and Paramount are doing the best thing they can right now. Which is ignoring Disney and focusing on their upcoming projects (like Sonic 4)

@ I’m just speculating too, so who knows! But I will admit I’m very excited to watch the extra content!!! :D
I don't like folk music, and I don't like Bob Dylan. My friend convinced me to see it ...that was a really good movie!!!...Timothy did a great job!!!
Multiverse of madness did not cross a billion because it did not get a Chinese release. If it would’ve released in China it would’ve cruised over that billion mark.
Well one thing to take account yere grace is mufasa took majority of the screens and also premium screens which yes are worth more. The fact tbay somic was able to do this despite having less screens and no preium screens is great.
Happy New Year Grace! I love you, but Superman is the only movie that I will watch in cinemas next year lmao
I saw on Film Twitter that Eggers wants to do a Labyrinth remake with the Jim Henson Company
It would be a weird fit. Eggers has never done anything whimsical, musical, or puppetry before. He’s very talented but his darker, horror style doesn’t really fit with Henson’s Labyrinth.
@collettewilson1319 I disagree
Hey Grace, why didn’t you made a review about Mufasa? 🤔
Love how Zendaya's numbers for Challengers were called bad but looking back, she did pretty amazing compared to Timmy C (ACU) and Austin Butlers (Bikeriders) movies.
Yep, especially with an original tennis film vs a biopic with a popular musician. That narrative was silly.
Challengers numbers were awful cause it failed to double its budget
@@audaciousjonesit may’ve recouped in digital but yes. Unfortunate because I thought it was a solid flick and fairly well made. It at least deserved to break even 😅
That'a the thing, they were never bad! For a movie that was sold so heavily on her appeal alone, a $15M opening was fantastic. In terms of actually weekend to weekend performance, it had a really strong showing, even if the budget was too big.
We'll see where things end, but on its first 5 days, A Complete Unknown already made almost half of what Challengers made domestically (50M) so I wouldn't go out celebrating yet.
Eggers should direct a Mummy reboot next. If he can bring back Frasier and Wiez, he could actually make a Dark Universe happen
Why didn’t Mufasa have its own section?
We didn't even get a Mufasa review 😭
I think it should have. I saw it this weekend, it was bad. If I was Disney I would still hire but strictly watch Lin Manuel Miranda… none of the songs it’s any good, and the only memorable one it was one of the worst villain song in Disney history.
Disney don’t care about the fans no more
@@AlvaroIbacacheS I saw Mufasa and loved it. The music was amazing. Not sure what more you were expecting out of it.
It's interesting... I'm looking for Mufasa in Dolby and it's missing. It's only showing in IMAX at my AMC theater, the only in my city. Nobody is in it. BUT I went to the regular screens, and they're packed! Weird.
Shout out to Aldis Hodge and the success of Cross! Sad its being ignored by a lot of outlets
I agree. It's a fantastic show. I'm excited for season 2.
21:32 - This story is absolutelly hilarious and so ridiculous 😂😂😂
Why does grace hate the Superman trailer so much 😂
Because she has a feud against James Gunn
Because the main character wear underwear outside his pants
Normally Philippines get movies like Sonic early but we havent got it yet! Because of a film festival, we need to wait till Jan 15!
watched Moana 2 yesterday, going to watch Sonic 3 next Sunday.
As far as Wicked goes. Yes, first act is definitely stronger. However, there is more than ONE bop in the second act.
Eggers needs a Scarecrow (Batman villain) movie, his visuals mixed with the most horrific Batman villain could be huge.
I’m so GLAD movie math is back this week and can’t wait for your coverage of the Golden Globes on Sunday, Grace. Oh I’m so hyped already. ❤
Ahhh how much I’ve missed movie math !!! Now everything feels back in order haha
Great to have you back grace
The last Star Wars movie was released in 2017. Who believes that we are supposed to get a Star Wars movie every 2 years at this point? 😂
2019, not 2017.
HAPPY NEW YEAR GRACE ! Thanks a LOT for this year coverage !!!
TEAM SONIC 3!!!❤
I havent even played Sonic Adventure 2, but yet I ADORED the friendship between Shadow and Maria
Fr u should play it
a they go way more in-depth in the game ngl
Top notch quality as always ! Great coverage !
Very interested to see Grace starting to cover Wrestling starting with next week now that WWE is gonna be on Netflix!!!!
YESSSSS MOVIE MATH IS BACK. THANK YOU GRACE 😊AND WAY TO GO SONIC FILM
Maybe not enough premium screens for Sonic
I think Wicked did a fantastic job at balancing casual and hardcore fans
Ok but can we just agree the whole Sonic vs Mufasa fight is ridiculous?
Like, so childish at points
Absolutely.
That community note seemed unnecessary considering the tweet was saying it’s #1 in the world box office, not domestic.
Exactly
There was more to that note than you claim
even so, disney was trying to pull a fast one.
it mentioned sonic 3 hadn't released internationally yet, so while it was true Mufasa was #1 globally it's because they had no competition globally.
@roux6715 Yeah hey as much as I don't like Disney all they are doing is market their movie the best they can.
One of the smaller AMCs in Nashville just renovated one of the theaters into a smaller Dolby theater. Looking forward to checking that out and it shows they know they need to focus on premium.
Missed your videos grace! Glad you’re back
Truly the best part of my Sundays!
Hi Grace. International audience here. We watched the game ONLY for Beyonce and Mariah. My family eas divided between Malaysia and Brazil, but we were all waiting for the Queen B to set that stadium on fire, and she did. I've never been this happy about my netflix subscription 😌❤ Happy New Year!✨️❤️
I'm in Houston where that game was taking place and I only tuned in for Beyonce too 🥂
3 million people tuned in for her.
Still trying to see Mufasa, but being with family doesn’t give me the time lol
Happy Holidays Grace ❤️
Speaking of Nosferatu, Eggers mentioned that he wanted to do his own version. It's not an IP thing. He also plans to do a miniseries on Rasputin and in a recent interview, he mention that he finished the screenplay for The Knight (probably the next film he will direct).
the city behind you looks so beautiful in this vid 😭
Dracula was ok. It was shot beautifully. But it wasn’t scary enough. Not spooky enough not creepy enough.
Just saw wicked tonight for the fourth time and yes it’s in the smaller theatre’s it was full for all shows this afternoon . I think they should have kept it off digital
I saw the Wicked singalong at Alamo Drafthouse and no one sang.
I hope Sonic wins 🎉
