    There is actually a very good advantage to being able to fire a blaster with a single hand effectively. Well, actually, if your an amputee like me its a requirement.

      +Politician Cranberry There's actually a guy at Dart WarZ that uses a Hammershot and even does Boffer combat with a prosthetic. He is naught to be messed with, as he actually overpowered my Two-Handed Great Sword and got a clean strike on my chest: one of two people in the history of that place to beat me.

      Walcom the reason I will use a hammershot is because with the blaster parts metal kit, a 10 kg spring and an 8 round cylinder ti is quite good as u can fan it and the darts won't come out because of the tighter fit of the cylinder

      For a backup I would recommend a triad, double shot, or jolt. They are smaller than a firestrike, but hold more ammo. Besides the jolt, but it's size is unbeatable.

    Fusefire > Vigilon.
    I love discs, I'm sad nobody uses them.
    Sledgefire love, hell yes. Those things are great. I upgraded the stock on mine to hold extra shells. Plus, you can use those 3D printed shells that shoot a mega instead for gamemodes where megas get extra points.
    Cycloneshock is also great, I agree.

    Great video. I like how you explained that a secondary should be a blaster that covers a weakness of a primary, and not simply a *use if your primary stops working* blaster. Because, I think that's where many people get the idea that the hammershot is the best is because they see a secondary as just an emergency blaster, which is not its main purpose. Very informative video, great job.

    I use a hammer shot with an orange mod works and it's pretty damn incredible (I find it useful one handed in capture the flag) but instead of the strongarm, I prefer a flipfury. Basically a strongarm, but twice the ammo. Only problem is that you need a massive holster for it (or use a sling)

    One of my favorite sidearm combinations includes two Strongarms (soon to be FlipFuries) with shoestrings leading from the sling attachment point to the opposite shoulder.
    It's technically one-handed priming (as to why I use them in a dual wielded fashion), far better out-of-box performance than a Hammershot, I don't have to worry about darts falling out of the barrel as much as with a Hammershot, AND the Strongarm carries an extra dart with it.
    And my favorite part: The shoestrings act as slings, so I can just drop them and switch to a different blaster when I need to in a tight situation

    • @tobyzxcd
      @tobyzxcd 9 лет назад +1

      Toby Brooks for me the hammershot is reliable i use a raven mostly sometimes un modified but BUT that hammershot if my raven jams which is kind of rare but when i need to clear a jam i can easliy use my hammershot and still have attack up while i run to make sure i don't die.I can also have a greater variety having my primary as flywheels and my secondary being a springer so thats why i use dual hammer shots and a raven

    • @tobyzxcd
      @tobyzxcd 9 лет назад +1

      iCANhazRECON ok so I'm not trying to be mean your load out is quite nice and creative though using and dropping the two strong-arms is quite cumbersome and if they fall off you are kinda screwed as for out of the box performance the hammershot and strong-arm is pretty much the same if you see a side by side chrono sorry if you feel offended by the one extra dart

    • @iCANhazRECON1
      @iCANhazRECON1 9 лет назад

      Toby Brooks One extra shot AND slamfire. You mustn't forget the slamfire function ;) plus, I usually run as a heavy anyways - I rely on firepower over speedy movement. Cumbersome is kind of part of the deal.
      And as for the Hammershot and Strongarm having the same out-of-box performance, they usually don't. The Hammershot has been repeatedly tested to have a significantly lower average FPS by 15-25 feet. But, out-of-box performance doesn't entirely matter when my modified Strongarm gets roughly twice the FPS that a similarly modified Hammershot gets.
      *Tl;dr*: You can use whatever blasters you want use, I however find my methods to work better

    When you prime it, you need to use your index finger as leverage. Your index finger is your trigger finger, and it should be in the trigger hole. When your prime it, it forces your finger to pull the trigger so it doesn't catch and it springs back up and that's the problem.

    The main benefit of a hammershot is that you don't have to adjust your grip or disrupt your aim so much between shots, not one-handed use. The big downside is a slightly slower, more difficult prime, though that's mitigated by training.

  • @dankayur2910
    @dankayur2910 9 лет назад +30

    So the Hammershot isn't good because one handed priming doesn't matter, yet the whip messenger is good because it does?

    • @WalcomS7
      @WalcomS7  9 лет назад +4

      Dan Kayur I did mention that whole bias thing, but what I should have demonstrated is that the Whip Messenger fires faster and has better range.

    • @dankayur2910
      @dankayur2910 9 лет назад +2

      WalcomS7 To be fair, I think you have demonstrated that before.

    • @WalcomS7
      @WalcomS7  9 лет назад +4

      Dan Kayur Maybe it's just me that has that priming issue with the Hammershot but seriously that's a huge problem I've had. The Whipblast seems to work far better in that regard, but 100% needs to have some brass in the barrels to hold the darts better.

    • @ShawnLockard
      @ShawnLockard 9 лет назад +2

      WalcomS7 Part of what really made me like the post was reminding me of the problem that I have with the Hammershot, and I "flippln" love it, is that I do sometimes do the "fire on cocking" thing you mention as the priming issue. And not everyone has seen all your videos. So a nice comprehensive video, and something where you do complain, but you offer alternatives.

  • @nerformancemods5900
    @nerformancemods5900 8 лет назад +4

    Point of one-handed blasting: I have two hands... which means two Hammershots (Sweet Revenge in my case) akimbo. I can also reload my slinged primary off-handed while wielding one Sweet Revenge, in case of frienemies who are close or if I get charged once my primary is empty. Another nice option of carrying two (one strongside, one crossdraw,) Is that if I am caught during a reload, I can draw one, empty it, an if necessary, drop/holster it, and draw the second, all one-handed, rather than having to reload my secondary under fire. The fastest reload is drawing another blaster.
    Agree with the Sledgefire completely... planning an integration in the future.
    Again, IMO the Rebelle Spylight is better than the Strongarm, as you don't have to swing out the cylinder to reload. I guess I prefer a front loader to carrying more bulk (and expense) in extra cylinders.
    Never saw the Messenger/Boomco integration... bad ass! Do you use the Messenger air system? Or just the AR's?
    Buy a Sweet Revenge! Not a Hammershot.
    Nice vid, thanks!

  • @Newtmaster
    @Newtmaster 8 лет назад +2

    The primary reason for using my Sweet Revenge is to keep one hand free for *socks*. In many HvZ games, socks are an important game element. I think this should be kept in mind in the Hammershot argument.

    I bought a Hammershot without any influence and from my experience it's pretty good and I would use it as a secondary along with maybe a rapid strike or longshot but the primary I'm using dictates my secondary. If I were using say...a sling fire then yes I would use a Hammershot because the sling fire is a faster weapon in terms of priming and firing but if I'm using a rapid strike I would pair with a strong arm because those can be "faster" weapons in terms of firing. So in my experience my secondary is all dictated by my primary.

      livelife441 Even if I was to account for that (and BFU couldn't even recommend buying it as the original, "buy a hammershot"), it's a 45$ kit.
      Forty-four-ninty-nine to make it a 6 shooter. And even then, the Strongarm has better ranges and a far superior firing speed. See the problem yet? And that doesn't even count buying the OMW kit for the Strongarm which makes it punch 100 feet.

    For hammer shot vs strongarm, if I am using a springer primary, it will most likely have a low rate of fire and be not dualwieldable. So I would use a strongarm to cover the rof problem. Hammer shots work better with flywheel blasters.

  • @Ravaille
    @Ravaille 7 лет назад

    Managed to find a Sledgefire in 2017. Had a hammershot earlier but since adding the Sledgefire to my arsenal, it complements well with either a springer/flywheel primary. Just wondering though, will it damage the blaster should I leave the sledgefire primed during gaming runs for max range/performance? Or just the occasional break-in-and-shoot?

  • @phaugh99

    I put the full metal conversion kit by blaster parts in my hammershot. The kit comes with a metal hammer, 9 kg spring and a skeletal metal trigger. this kit is amazing and turned my hammershot into an amazing sidearm. the only thing to note is that the metal hammer is long and forces you to prime the blaster with your non dominant hand. ive found the most comfortable way to prime the blaster is by pulling it back with your hand, like you would when you fan fire. Ive also ordered an 8 dart cylinder for the hammershot that is 3D printed. overall the kit functions fantastically and priming the blaster is really smooth. This kit also allows for way easier fan firing and stops the hammer from slipping back when you pull it down. PS. if you didnt think that the stock hammershot is better than the strongarm then what do you have to say know.

      S3b0rg I don't. Hell, I recently just bought 20 BOOMco. 20 Dart clips with darts for $1.43. The blaster I use are more powerful and accurate meaning less wasted darts. The darts are also smaller and easier to carry on top of being basically indestructible. These are scenarios that never happen.

    uzi minimize rapidstrike with 12 round mag and mounted laser for hip fire. requires a leg holster but with 3d printing and online nerf accessory stores you could get a holster that would be easy to draw and come out firing.

    The stock comes off of the Sledgefire if you open it up. If you can find some other way to carry your shells, the sledgefire is an absolute beast. In fact, heres a list of all its pros.
    - There is only one lock in the blaster, and its easy to remove.
    - The firing mech is in a casing, which is just fantastic if you're painting it.
    - Hardly any mods need to be done.

    I own a Sledge Fire and it is not the most practical, but it is good if you have the shell loaded to quickly fire it at someone. ALSO… it is most effective at killing flys. So if you have a fly problem this blaster will kill them if you catch them sitting on the wall!

    For secondaries, I use a Fusefire and/or Strongarm, depending on real estate in my loadout. Tertiary: a pair of Triads plus a pair of modded BigShocks in case of stray MEGAs. Tertiaries are easy to dual-wield, and emergency blasting is MADE for dual-wielding.
    My primary is a Rampage with an 8kg springload.

I love my side arm as a night finder (Last ditch blaster) I see making a load out having a primary, secondary, side are.... Like singled long shot primary, stryfe secondary, hammer shot side arm. thats my opinion and i do agree with you... hammershots fit my loadout very well so i'm still going to use it BUT its not my secondary. i play as a light heavy (yeah it makes sense) i carry my stryfe/hyperfire/rapidstrike as a primary (depends on how i feel on the day) then a roughcut as a secondary and 1-2 hammershots to dual wield or just use as a backup. my primarys are unmodded and so is my roughamucut but im going to brass the roughcut and possible spring and cog upgrade but my hammershots are painted with a blasterparts full metal kit each

  • @tacticalnerf9710

    Rubuttals against your hate of the hammer shot:
    1. The darts pop out because the darts are worn out, and therefore do not have a tight fit in the cylinder.
    2. When you prime the hammer shot, if you fire, first of all, why are you leaving your finger on the trigger?
    3. You can get good at priming any blaster, really, even if it is "difficult."
    Sorry, I just love the hammer shot. It's easy to holster, has good performance, and can be operated with one hand. Also, the hammer shot is a pistol/sidearm, not a secondary.

  • @CoachCPaige
    @CoachCPaige 9 лет назад

    If you have a sling the hammershot can be one of the best side arms. For the simple fact you can drop your gun the dual wield it. Also your first point of concern with the gun going off "automatically" if you keep your fingers off the trigger when you prime it you will be fine. I run a rampage primary 35 mag (with a sling) with 2 hammershots as my secondary and a triad as my tertiary and I've never had a problem in a single war with darts falling out or firing o their own

  • @zkittlesbutbetter
    @zkittlesbutbetter 2 года назад +1

    I think that the Hammershot is pretty meh stock, but there’s mods that let it have a capacity of 32 half darts, so there’s that.
    Also I will be using that as one of my secondaries for HvZ

  • @anifan-lj7cv
    @anifan-lj7cv 8 лет назад

    I use a highly modded Modulus with a pair of nodded hammershots as secondarys. I play HvZ, so if I need a barrel on two targets, one on each, I drop my modulus (it has a one point sling) and pull the Demon and Angel out. It works well and FOR HVZ hammershots are great. They are not as good in other game types. They are Zombie strike blasters after all. I should mention that having very little mass bolstered on my side is a big plus. Some of his picks for secondarys are quite large.

  • @last2nkow
    @last2nkow 2 года назад +1

    my local game is a bit restrictive being an xp based campaign, so it has an interesting difference in picking your blasters.
    i chose to pick up an extra Rifle and a second pistol while being a healer, which comparatively just makes me a really consistent DPS since i get comparatively a lot of bullets and can switch weapons rather than reload under pressure.
    for me and my style as a healer a Hammershot lets me guard my team mates as i heal them with one hand, so its very practical.
    but.
    but its not so much a secondary as it is a specialist tool.
    if i need range ive got my longshot with extended clip
    if i need burst damage, drop the rifle on its sling and pull 2 hammershots for a lot of firepower.
    if i need to heal and guard, i have one handed protection with 1 hammershot.
    so yes, they technically fit the secondary visuals but actually they are as important to the play style as my big gun.
    other games will be different im certain, but thats my 2 pence

  • @alunbuss7877

    My current loadout is a NERF Infinus with a Stockade dual-wield secondary. Infinus (And a bunch of barrel addons too - thinking combos of shotguns and alt ammo types (so 3 and Ultra, 5 and Vortex, 6 and Mega, 8 and Mega XL, 10 and Missile) to work in long-range engagements, Stockade(s) for CQB and indoors action. But I'll probably wind up using a Firestrike tertiary.

    what you have said in this video made me feel better about my loadouts (yes i have 4 but 1 is still a wip)
    Loadouts; 1 for none modded wars, 2 for modded wars, 3 and 4 for the lol's
    1: primary: Stryfe (the wars i go to allow lock removal on their none modded wars because it doesn't make it hurt more)
    secondary: Sledgefire (no mods)
    pistol: Hammershot (no mods)
    extras: Socks, cardboard holsters and a few custom dart holders on my arm and chest also drop pouches i made
    2: primary: Streyven (still building it)
    secondary: Sledgefire (no mods)
    pistol: Hammershot (no mods)
    extras: Socks, cardboard holsters and a few custom dart holders on my arm and chest also drop pouches i made
    3: primary: Retaliator (no mods)
    secondary: Sledgefire (no mods)
    pistol: Hammershot (no mods)
    extras: Socks, cardboard holsters and a few custom dart holders on my arm and chest also drop pouches i made
    3: primary: Socks
    secondary: Socks
    pistol: Socks
    extras: drop pouches i made and MORE SOCKS!!!!
    people always used to laugh at my sledgefire saying its useless. they don't once they see the hail of darts it fires (i have parcticed and get a really good rate of fire)
    they also laugh at my sock ninja loadout but its surprisingly effective and super fun to use
