    The universe has long captivated us with its immense scales of distance and time. How far does it stretch? Where does it end, and what lies beyond its star fields and streams of galaxies extending as far as telescopes can see?
    These questions are beginning to yield to a series of extraordinary new lines of investigation and technologies that are letting us to peer into the most distant realms of the cosmos. But also at the behavior of matter and energy on the smallest of scales. Remarkably, our growing understanding of this kingdom of the ultra-tiny, inside the nuclei of atoms, permits us to glimpse the largest vistas of space and time. In ancient times, most observers saw the stars as a sphere surrounding the earth, often the home of deities. The Greeks were the first to see celestial events as phenomena, subject to human investigation rather than the fickle whims of the Gods.
    One sky-watcher, for example, suggested that meteors are made of materials found on Earth... and might have even come from the Earth. Those early astronomers built the foundations of modern science. But they would be shocked to see the discoveries made by their counterparts today. The stars and planets that once harbored the gods are now seen as infinitesimal parts of a vast scaffolding of matter and energy extending far out into space.
    Just how far began to emerge in the 1920s. Working at the huge new 100-inch Hooker Telescope on California's Mt. Wilson, astronomer Edwin Hubble, along with his assistant named Milt Humason, analyzed the light of fuzzy patches of sky... known then as nebulae.
    They showed that these were actually distant galaxies far beyond our own. Hubble and Humason discovered that most of them are moving away from us. The farther out they looked, the faster they were receding. This fact, now known as Hubble's law, suggests that there must have been a time when the matter in all these galaxies was together in one place.
    That time, when our universe sprung forth, has come to be called the Big Bang. How large the cosmos has gotten since then depends on how long its been growing and its expansion rate. Recent precision measurements gathered by the Hubble space telescope and other instruments have brought a consensus...
    That the universe dates back 13.7 billion years. Its radius, then, is the distance a beam of light would have traveled in that time ... 13.7 billion light years. That works out to about 1.3 quadrillion kilometers. In fact, it's even bigger.... Much bigger. How it got so large, so fast, was until recently a deep mystery.
    That the universe could expand had been predicted back in 1917 by Albert Einstein, except that Einstein himself didn't believe it until he saw Hubble and Humason's evidence. Einstein's general theory of relativity suggested that galaxies could be moving apart because space itself is expanding.
    So when a photon gets blasted out from a distant star, it moves through a cosmic landscape that is getting larger and larger, increasing the distance it must travel to reach us. In 1995, the orbiting telescope named for Edwin Hubble began to take the measure of the universe... by looking for the most distant galaxies it could see.
    Taking the expansion of the universe into account, the space telescope found galaxies that are now almost 46 billion light years away from us in each direction... and almost 92 billion light years from each other. And that would be the whole universe... according to a straightforward model of the big bang. But remarkably, that might be a mere speck within the universe as a whole, according to a dramatic new theory that describes the origins of the cosmos.
    ABOUT US
    Here at SpaceRip, we value the exploration of the unknown. We surpass boundaries for the sake of uncovering the mysteries of the cosmos and what they may tell us about our origin and our future. With our videos, we hope to educate our viewers on how we fit into the universe, and more so how we can do our part to better it.

      To the main musician. Psalm of David.
      19 The heavens declare the glory of God,
      And the firmament announces the work of his hands.
      2 One day utters a word to another day,
      And night to night he declares wisdom.
      3 There is no language, no words,
      Nor is his voice heard.
      4 His voice went out through all the earth,
      And to the end of the world his words.
      In them he put a tabernacle for the sun;
      5 And this one, like a husband coming out of his thalamus,
      He is glad as a giant to run the road.
      6 From the end of the heavens is the rising of it,
      And the course of it until their term;
      And there is nothing to hide from the heat of him.
      7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
      Jehovah's testimony is faithful, making the simple wise.
      8 The commandments of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
      Jehovah's commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.
      9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
      Jehovah's judgments are true, all righteous.
      10 They are more to be desired than gold, and more than much fine gold;
      And sweeter than honey, and that which distills from the honeycomb.
      11 Your servant is also warned with them;
      In keeping them there is great reward.
      12 Who can understand his own mistakes?
      Deliver me from those who are hidden from me.
      13 Keep your servant also from arrogance;
      Let them not rule over me;
      Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.
      14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasant before you,
      O Lord, my rock, and my redeemer. ..... do you know why you feel like this? because you perceive that there is a God ... and there is, as King David said in this Psalm ... and this God is Holy, who will judge you, and without Christ you will end up in hell

When we learn computers to think like us, we can scale our intellect many times. We already know a lot about what we can detect directly, but less about things we can't. I see our limits more in what we can detect, rather than in the analysis of it. We are daily imagining beyond our data, because they are so limited compared with our intellect.

      The idea of a possibly endless series of separate universes is fascinating. It certainly seems to be a prediction of the cosmic inflation theory (one of many big bang models) that Alan Guth and Andre Linde have championed.
      That said, a common definition of 'universe' is absolutely everything there is. That would beg the question of separate universes. Whether the universe we are in is the only universe or is but one of many, possibly an infinite number of universes is something which so far, no one can establish one way or the other. If there are separate universes somewhere (and the idea of just where that somewhere might be is a tad difficult to explain), there appears to be no possible way to establish that as fact.
      Okay, there is no possible way today, to establish that as fact. Who knows what tomorrow may bring?

      Marco Cáceres
      Earth: No More Than a Speck of Dust
      We humans live on a relatively small planet named Earth that is part of a solar system consisting of a medium-sized star that we call the Sun. Besides Earth, there are seven planets in our solar system. Our solar system is part of a galaxy that we call the Milky Way. Our galaxy consists of more than two hundred billion stars and their planets. There are more than a hundred billion galaxies in our expanding, 156 billion-light years wide universe, which would suggest that there are trillions of stars, planets, and moons.
      Obviously, these numbers are only extremely rough estimates. We will never know exactly how many galaxies, stars, planets, and other celestial bodies there are in the universe. But the fact that we are talking about hundreds of billions should be sufficient to amaze us and overwhelm the capacity of our minds to even begin to comprehend the vastness of creation. Consider the possibility that there may be more than one universe. Entertain the notion that there might be many parallel universes.
      Now, try to imagine the Earth from the perspective of outer space. Visualize it quietly orbiting the Sun. Visualize the Sun and our solar system tucked away among billions of other stars and their solar systems within our galaxy. Stretch your imagination further and try to visualize our galaxy among a seemingly endless mass of billions of other galaxies.
      If you think of the Earth within the context of the universe(s), it is difficult to cling to any certainty you may have about the significance or uniqueness of our planet, and thus the degree of specialness we like to attribute to its inhabitants. It is not only that the Earth gets lost in the numbers, it is that our beautiful planet in reality is no more than a spec of dust in the universe.

    Some say, the more we learn, the further we move away from God..and some would say, the more we learn, the closer we come to understanding God..... Those who have had "Near Death Experiences" seem to be shining some light on the truth, and the beauty of it all. So be good and keep hope alive... for in the end, it's all we have to hold onto.

      Those who have had "Near Death Experiences" seem to be shining some light on the truth"
      While I appreciate your using the word "seems"...Ummm, not really, I don't believe. Let me try to explain. If you look at "near death experiences" overall, you get a whole range of after the fact, related experiences, from bright lights to nothing at all, to many things in between.."floating out of body" and the like.
      I guess you could cherry pick ONLY the recounted "near death" experiences that line up with your world view and say that near death experiences seem to say this or that, but when that is the mode, it ACTUALLY doesn't point to any conclusion, at least as related to NDE. If you are more honest and take the whole of them, that doesn't point to anything, either, other than that different people apparently experience varied effects in their brains when they "die". Totally unsurprising.
      There was a rather strange and somewhat gruesome, I guess, experiment conducted where the subject of a beheading was asked to blink rapidly for as long as he was able after the deed was done. According to what was written he blinked for 11 seconds after "losing his head" (sorry, couldn't resist). If this is accurate, the brain is able to function, at least to the point of remembering and carrying out this strange, but interesting, request without continuing blood flow, actually even worse, with blood flowing OUT of the brain at a tremendous rate, for a period of time. I expect, educated guess, that with that blood still present, but not flowing, as it would be in a so-called "near death", that period would be longer, but not too substantially. If this is the case, being able to relate some of what occurred during that period afterward doesn't seem too large stretch, from a purely biological standpoint.
      Going further than that, and assigning some supernatural cause, is just pure conjecture, nothing more. I get kind of tired of people (in general, not you specifically) having the answer beforehand and then trying to somehow FORCE what is observed to fit that "known" structure, especially when data is had picked (yeas accepted, nays rejected). That is the opposite of established scientific methodology and rational thinking, and is of no value in extending knowledge. Quite the opposite, actually. It is a standard ploy to support preconceived conclusions that cannot be supported any other way. When a person knows they are doing this, It is disingenuous on every level. Sometimes people do it without realizing it, to some degree, and that is just bad science...that is why any experiment is required to be repeated, at least that is one of many reasons.

      It's only human to believe and even accept what one experiences; to them, neither you, or any science we know of, will change that. Anyway, I respect the logic you apply to the subject, but then, what is reality, really?

      @@raymondparsley7442 "What is reality really"?
      Now THAT is the $64K question, isn't it? ;-P I am 100% with you that that is an unanswerable question, so far, anyway. We don't even have the beginnings of a clue, really.
      Yes, on your "to accept"...I wasn't speaking about the experience at an individual level, only the conclusions that can, or can not be drawn by the whole of those experiences, for people honestly studying them and trying to figure out why they occur. To someone who has an experience like that, obviously they will interpret it however they will, based on what they have experienced and been taught,r told, or worked out for themselves. I have no problem with that, none whatsoever. I was just speaking to the general case.
      I don't know that science will NEVER get there, but it certainly has little to say about it so far. The deeper scientists and theoreticians delve, the absolutely WEIRDER it gets. Reality, as we experience it, has nothing to do with reality at the basic (quantum) levels, and some of what DOES happen at the quantum levels is absolutely inexplicable. "Stuff" in that realm gets so strange, it appears to be from another reality, not ours, and I imagine as "we" delve deeper it will get stranger yet.
      I am a retired electrical engineer, and one of the things I read once and found kind of humorous is several folks ventured out to try to create a transistor that would have very specific parameters (a logic level FET if I remember correctly) using to a large part what they knew of quantum level effects. It bombed, nothing met spec, so they continued to try and work it that same way, using fundamental understanding, and often parameters changed in the OPPOSITE direction of what they intended, or "should have" given current knowledge of fundamental particle physics. Shows we aren't even close yet. But you can also predict very accurately (on the whole) what many outcomes of specific experiments will be, and even extrapolate out to untried (unable to be, mostly) untested physics, like the Higgs Boson. So we do know some things, but not close to everything, obviously, about that level of reality.
      I often wonder if science will ever get to that final EUREKA moment, where ALL of existence becomes clear, not something we will have to worry about (unless we are visited by some alien race who knows and tells us...not holding my breath) in our lifetimes, but if the human race survives for a million more years, who knows? Of course, with the direction it's going now at taking care of its ONLY habitable choice, we might be lucky if we survive 500 more, at least while still technically advancing. Cheers.

Though Logic, which is considered to be one of the less-useful subjects in college, now it is the MOST-IMPORTANT.sibject to man/ woman, to DECODE life and God, though I did not study logic in college, while some of my friends liked the subject L ogic.
      First, I hope, that you and the so determined (stubborn?) aethiests agree that we are all actualy made up of our PARENTS-STUFF, whichever country or race they belong, as parents created us from ALMOST-NOTHING.
      Secondly, now what material our parents are made of? Initially, there must be some stuff the first man and woman was created and THAT was the God-stuff. I don't think that we are made from ORDINARY soil. See all men's / women's flesh, skin and bone. Some of the skins are so smooth, supple and glowing. No ordinary soil, even bone China clay could produce such wonderful skin and flesh. It is not ordinary soil for sure. Rather, it must be of high-quality, very-valuable, magical, precious, highly sophisticated soil or SOIL-LIKE thing which ONLY God could make or be brought from heaven. And indirectly created Eve from the same soil, thatbis, Adam's rib.
      Do you think that we, thiests, EARN income to the tune of BILLIONS of money from God, for PROMOTING (a non-existant God, according to you. We have no selfish motives or no profit from canvassing for God). Rather, many of us, didn't have seen God, though we DEFINITELY FELT God's presence and TOOK God's HELP in very very difficult situations, when NO human, man or woman, how powerful he/ she may could have helped. I (we) took INNUMERABLE HELPS through prayers. I too was a blind like you aethiests earlier. Now my eyes had opened.
      Moreover, you thought that we are that much illiterate masses to believe in some imaginary God. We are highly educated to know truth from lie, right from wrong and good from bad.
      Aethiests are either blind or think very highly of themselves, after asking some illogical stupid questions. I don't intend to speak like a communist or a capitalist, but this is a story I read some time back.
      In a country, a dog gave birth to some cubs, when the leader of that country visited the cubs. The leader asked the dog-owner's child "How are the cubs?" The child said, "All cubs were born-Communists".
      The leader was impressed with the reply and patriotism of the child. He was happy that even a child is a determined-communist.
      A few days later, the leader visited the cubs, repeated the same question to the child to which the child replied, 'All cubs have become Capitalists'. When the leader asked why the child thought so, the child replied, "the cubs were closing the eyes a few days back. Now they had opened their eyes".
      If you can understand the above story, you may grasp the logic in the story.
      I am not sure as to who is blind and who is not blind, whether capitalists or communists or both. The SAME story can be told vice-versa (for the opposite) IDEOLOGY. .
      When will you people open your eyes and see the reality? After seeing all billions of stars and planets, galaxies light-years away, and many other things (living or dead, life-forms, intelligent-handsome-men/ exceptionally-beautiful- women, adorable-babies/ children, members of marvellous animal-kingdom and pianet-kingdom etc) how you aethiests can remain oblivious of God's hand and presence?

      ***** I believe you are focusing on the wrong things. First off, science had not expanded enough 1000 years ago for billions of people to be involved in it. Billions of people wouldn't find interest in it either. Also, electricity could have been invented a long time ago sure, but it's not religions fault that it wasn't, it just wasn't it's time. Just like all the inventions that haven't been made yet, they aren't made because nobody has thought of them yet, and 100 years after they have been made, somebody can easily say "they could have totally made that so much earlier and we would be further than we are right now". Of course, but things don't happen until somebody invents them. You are blaming religion on a circumstance that just couldn't have happened before hand because nobody bothered to invent it back then.
      Also, are you pissed off that you live in our time? You wish you lived in the future? Good luck. Probably better to just make the best out of the life you have, in the timeframe you are in. I don't think where we are in human advancement is a bad place to be, and you can't say the future will be better or I can say you are insane for thinking you can see the future.
      So quit blaming religion on where we are today. Religion makes a lot of people happy, and the only reason you hate it, is because you are allowing it to affect you, because you focus on it. May as well be religious if you care so much. If you didn't care, then simply that.... you wouldn't care. But you do. I am not a religious person at all, I'm with you, it's bullshit, but when you start blaming religion on where we are today, like 2014 is a shitty fucking place to be, then you've just become a complete fucking idiot, and nobody will ever take that argument seriously, because it's just plain stupid.

    What if one day we, we zoom so far into atoms and zoom farther and farther and then we start to see our own universe?? Like it just repeats itself like a loop.

      We are not alone even on Earth itself, If you know what i mean, I'm talking about Jins and angles, With jins being similar to us humans in terms of life requirements and goals, To believe in God the creator and to worship him , Angles, on the other hand, live above the sky and they're duty is to obey God and they simply can't disobey him, This is why we humans and jins are on earth, God has sent us down in order to test us for our faith and actions, are they good deeds or bad evil creations? Each one of us has his own, And we all will meet afterlife in heaven or hell, hopefully,heaven.

    Every time I think of space, I think of another planet like our earth way out there with life like ours. What if it has humans just like us. What if they think like us and what if their planet has made the progress like ours has. Space is just such a mind boggling, awesome subject. I hope we'll be able to see further then ever before in the future.

    13:35 imagine all of those little bright blips are not galaxies, but clusters of galaxies. WOW Astonishing trying to imagine all of the enormous distances and numbers between the stars in our Galaxy, but then trying to imagine the distances and sizes of all the other TRILLIONS of galaxies in universe
