- I am so stoked about the return of DOD. Tom Cram sent me a box of pedals to play around with and I just had to try the Rubberneck Analog Delay because I missed it the first time around. It's one heck of a pedal!

A couple things I've fallen in love with about the Rubberneck. Hooking up an OBNE Expression Ramper to rhythmically control the rubbernecking is a wonderful and magical thing, it basically creates a rhythmic and very musical pitch shifting of the repeats as they bounce up and down an octave. Also, putting a deep washy reverb into the FX loop is super cool, you end up with this great underlying atmosphere from the delay and reverb while your dry signal remains clear and unmuddied.
wait there's expression control?? I thought it only had the xf loop and footswitch input

@@aaronhoffenberg371foot switch and expression pedal are interchangeable terms. It’s compatible with most expression pedals and the input is on the back!
Aarh that kinda sounds like what you can do with the EHX Deluxe Memory Boy and it's square wave modulation on extreme settings or with the tap divide sequence modulation. But that's kinda the only thing I liked about it, after owning one twice 😆
But cool if I can do this with my Rubberneck, especially if it's more versatile this way 😄
Rubberneck is all the analog delay goodness imaginable with a huge range of sounds and craziness to explore, LOVE that thing

It's really cool to see that Mr. Cram got his old job back, and that this absolute gem is back in production where it belongs. Does is sound like a DMM? No. It sounds amazing more differnent-er.
Excellent demo! I"m definitely getting one soon. My gig board has a Source Audio Nemesis on it. Great delay. But after getting a Way Huge Echo-Pull I realized how much I like a real analog delay. Even the Nemesis isn't close to real analog with its analog engine

The DOD Rubberneck has lasted this long for a reason.
I use mine for sound experimentation and dub mixing. Love it 😊

@@DemosInTheDark And I always have the tone control on mine fully open. Especially for that, since the sound is still at the dark side of the spectrum. But can go quite bright for a BBD delay 😄

I’m so happy about Tom coming back to Resurrect these pedals and still do spiral at the same time. I had the rubberneck for a while and ya it is the most unique delay with that FX loop! I was really lucky to get it at the lower price years ago. 10:09 with the textured picking was creative fun I liked the sound of.

@@crammojophilter DON'T APOLOGIZE! my favorite thing about the "boutique" builders is that if I say anything, they respond, whether here, IG or FB. You guys reply and I appreciate that. I hope you can bring some of the small builder ideas to DOD. Glad you're helping them come back. Please don't let Spiral die.
To me still the best designed analog delay on the market. But we have to talk about the ridiculous price jump. Come on....double the price? No way.
Get a Catalinbread Belle Epoch instead.
This sounds nice in the demo but the Belle Epoch can do all of this and more. Expensive but worth it.
Good that i grabbed it while it was only 150 euros right in the beginning when it was launched.Got me the foot switch pedal too, great deal.If it was in the current price most probably I would have passed,but lucky i am.
What Im not so stoked about is price now. This pedal costs around 170euro less than two years back. Now is 310-330. Thats quite a jump. Its a great pedal but I woudnt pay that much for it...
i hear ya. but... everything is more expensive now. literally everything. it's been 6 years since samsung put DOD on hiatus and so much has changed.
@@DemosInTheDark I get it, everything is more expensive and its fine, due to what happened and is happening on the world right now, but still, most of pedals are 20 to 30 euros more, not almost 100 percent more. Its a great pedal, but im not if feature wise it could justify its price...
I totally agree. It is a huge price jump. When it came out i bought it for179 Euro and now it is 300 Euro. Yes, everything became more expensive, but in contrast to other effect pedal brands, this price jump is ridiculous. The rubberneck is my go to delay pedal and to me the best designed analog delay on the market, because it also can sound tape like. I also did a review here on YT.
@@HelpingHandAlias it is great sounding delay, no doubt about it. What comes to my mind as alternative is not so well known carl martin red repeat v3. Excelent sounding delay too. Or in price300 range there is line6 dl4 mkII, what lets be honest is feature wise different world...
The Rubberneck was introduced at $249. If you were able to get one at $179, consider yourself very lucky.
So more of these but no revisions/updates? Nothing new here. Great pedal but not stereo yet it’s a big box, for 2023 that is
there's new stuff coming. i've seen it, i'm not just talking. for now, let's just enjoy the moment.
This is an analog delay, in order for it to be stereo it would require twice the circuitry and BBD's and it would even larger and twice (if not more) as expensive.
