For the latest short film in collaboration with GQ and Vogue, director Lucy Luscombe encouraged Kai-member of K-Pop supergroup EXO-to travel back through time and place, an exercise that proved to uncover personal memories about his family and the origins of his love for dance and choreography.

I feel like Kai doesn't even belong in the idol industry. He's an artist and stands above that shallow world... I just feel so sorry for him and other idols who aren't able to show their true talents because the industry limits them so much. It's such a shame... Just imagine what kind of things Kai and other artists could showcase if they had the opportunity.

Plus he is sexy on stage as Kai, sweet, shy and adorable offstage as Jongin. He can sing, rap, and act and is a visual stunner that stands out in a group....NO MATTER who you put him in a group with! Kai holds the center because he IS that guy who stands out, dances better and therefore holds the center better than anybody else....Gucci could not have chose any better! Love King Kai!
@Harmon McCraw I saw them too, several times and could not see anyone but him. Kai has gained a lot of American followers since coming here. Maybe if you truly opened your mind and stopped reading into what critics say, they are seldom, if ever, right! I had the misfortune of reading some so called critic's review, turns out he was a sports writer, who knew jack about music or kpop to begin with! Those two are feminine dancers, maybe why you like them...I prefer a manly strong dancer....second to none. Kai and Taemin are best friends who trained together. I am excited that they finally got the opportunity to be in a group together. Even tho no one can deny Taemin and Ten are great dancers...Kai is better! Kai's Confession dang near brought the house down EVERY TIME he performed it here! Loudest, reaction of the night...for a reason!

Harmon McCraw I get you. I have been following Kai since before his name was even this big and I saw how he matured as a dancer, being one myself. But I get you. We have different tastes in everything - music, performance. I still stand by what I said though, he is majestic. And Taemin and Ten, too. I am also a fan of both. I think the three have clearly different styles. Kai has deep background from ballet and contemporary dance that not everyone will understand or appreciate. And I think it shows even in the most minute movements of his wrist, contrasted by the power in his eyes, his expressions. While I don’t see how you could not see that, I respect your opinion.

Kai has the most amazing father- he gave Kai the best gift of all-support and encouragement to pursue his dreams. Kai's father was the 1st person who saw Kai's talents and did everything to help Kai reach the stars, the sun and the moon. Kai's father also brought up the beautiful human being Kai is-soft and gentle and kind. TQ so much to his parents for giving the world Kai. I was v v sad when I heard his father passed away. This is touching my heart in a way that I can’t really put my finger on... I feel like so much of the western media representation of k-pop recently and historically has been so frustrating and one-dimensional. There’s been so much generalizing, fetishizing, stereotyping, dehumanizing of the actual humans behind this shiny and confusing industry. This short film is not only beautifully shot and captivating but also gives a look at Kai’s experiences, struggles, and dreams as a huge K-pop star as well as a human, and a son. I really appreciate Kai for sharing this side of his humanity on such a huge platform, and I appreciate that Gucci, Vogue, and GQ for creating such a beautiful and thought-provoking piece.

couldn't have said it better. this film is so raw and real, such a huge contrast to the sensationalist coverage of kpop by the media who just reduces it to some kind of cheap fad. for the idols themselves, this is their life, their career. there is meaning in what they do.
