To me Coraline was never scary, it was just really interesting. When I was a kid I would always look for hidden doors around my house so it was just really nice to watch the movie and it just felt nostalgic.
I found it calming to watch as a kid the music and just the aesthetic used to make me fall to sleep it’s one of my comfort movies now
I found it very comforting and interesting whenever I was younger although my brother (14) to this day hates it and finds it scary, now I could watch it everyday and still not get bored of it. The music is immaculate too.

Everyone always talks about how it’s scary to them but I’ve always loved it
For me it was never terrifying or scary.. I was born in 2009 and i was very young when I saw it my first time, and I did not think it was scary or terrifying neither sad, instead I loved it ever since... now I am 10-11 half years and I listened to it everywere every activity and only for my rlly young age I just love the vibes and i believe in ghosts demons and witches and I just love the vibes cuz they're the only vibes I accually love... i have watched this movie for more than 5 times and i will never get bored of watching it....

miss_ tea _ Freak me too im 11 and i watched it when i was around 5, i loved it a lot but of course i was a little scared because my biggest fear was losing family. now since im in a “halloween” spirit i recently watched coraline and its been my most recent obsession ☺️ the soundtrack is so peacful, but this is my favorite song in it. i also love the movie and the way its a claymation! i just love that type of art it just makes me happy. i listen to this to fall asleep every night for a month
I understand how this movie might have scared some children but to me the climax of the movie and coraline's parents trapped gave me a terrifying sense of desesperation and hopelesness. Like, a genuine fear of mine as a child was losing my parents and not being able to do anything about it. To me the aesthetics weren't frightening. But the atmosphere of loneliness after Coraline loses her family and is trapped under duress was a very real fear to me.

I remember when I was 4 I would grab a glass of water, anything to eat and would sit down in the middle of the carpet and have my mom put on coraline before she would leave to do some work. This movie raised me when my mom and dad were always working. I'm so glad I'm able to feel the nostalgia of those times.

My neighbors garden was so pleasant, there was a bench and he let me sit there and chill with his dogs and let me feed the bunnies, it was so magical, blueberries, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce,etc. It was so more beautiful after it rained or when it was raining, this song reminds me of the garden, it's so nostalgic, graceful, and peaceful, brings me comfort, cottage core vibes always came from there with the help of tiny frog statues and I miss it so much.
I watched this movie when I was like 8 years old. Everyone my age said they were scared of it, I was never scared of it I always saw the beauty and interest in it. It’s now my favorite movie and I know many lines from it. This is also probably one of my favorite songs. (In my playlist) I love coraline so much, just makes me feel safe ❤️🩹 3 years after this was posted and it’s still the masterpiece it was 🙂

So I wasn’t the only one! I was apparently so obsessed my parents could effectively punish me for being bad by taking away this movie and only this movie.
Also I think they thought I started saying things like “You’re not my real mom!” When mad because of this movie and that may have contributed to them trying to ban me from it, but I distinctly remember I got that from a “stranger danger” education short we had which encouraged kids to scream “THIS IS NOT MY MOM! THIS IS NOT MY DAD!” When being kidnapped.
Thankfully, that never resulted in police being called haha. I never did it in public.
Just listening to this,,, and remembering how I was obsessed with this movie in summer of 2009 and constantly watched it and annoyed my older siblings to put in the disk and now the CD is all scratched. This movie has a special place in my heart yes 😌

Coraline is by far my favorite stop motion film. I'll never forget when Coraline came out and my parents bought the blu ray to watch it. I remember being terrified but also in love with this film. As I grew up I've looked deeper into the film and it's so fantastically mysterious. I've seen videos like The Theorizer. So much meaning in both the film and the book and I can finally understand it now.
Not only the story amazes me but also the music, the score is beautiful and unique. The music also has deep meaning. It'll always give me nostalgic feels as well as the film. I don't think I'll ever forget this film, the piano in the background will be playing till the day I die in peace.

This exploration soundtrack always made me feel really comforted. It reminded me of a rainy day in the woods with a lovely covered moss cottage with yellow glowing lights in the windows. I would always envision the home to be filled with trinkets of keys, old paintings, cats. Basically a homely antique store.

Coraline was a charming and eerie movie, the stopmotion technique was mastered perfectly, the story was refreshing, the visuals are very appealing and the soundwork is so immersive and pleasing. I love this mocie !
All of Laikas movies are awesome, none quite so good as Coraline but you can tell they still put huge effort in and they don't pander to kids hugely

When I was a kid, Coraline was a little too scary for me. But watching it now is so comforting and I can actually enjoy it. I really love everything that this movie has to offer. The little details they throw in there, the music, the graphics, characters…it’s just perfect.

The first time I watched this I stopped 2/3 of the way through because it was night and I was terrified (I was 16 😂).
Now it is my comfort movie and I have it ripped to my laptop drive so I can watch it whenever I’m down or just have the urge to watch it again.
