I have 4 SG’s a special, a standard, a gothic, and a modern. All of them are amazing instruments Edit: I’m not rich. Ive been collecting gibsons since 2001 and only bought 6 over that time. They all took years to pay for. Worth it.
Does the Modern have the strap button on the horn..? I want a Custom, but $3500 is nuts, I collect SGs and have 3 standards a Junior w/ p90, a special which weighs a lot more than any of the others, and a 74 w/ a cracked headstock, I had it through High School and it broke half a dozen times, I'd glue it clamp it and break it again...lol
@ every SG I’ve seen new has it on the back of the body. If anyone knows different please feel free to chime in. I hear ya on gluing. A little crack can’t stop the rock! 😁

I’ve been playing electric guitar in various rock/garage bands over 50 years. The SG is my favorite. Stones, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Pete Townsend and many more!
I had a 70's Sg custom white with gold 3 pickup, and I traded for a 81 heritage series Les Paul. Still have that tank. SG is snappy and brilliant and the les paul was heavy solid chunk single guitarist must have. I love my strats and teles too.

I acknowledge this may be incorrect. But I i'm fairly sure I read something many years ago that stated earlier SGs were factory fitted with ceramic pickups. Due to scarcity and increasing cost of alnico. Whatever article it was I read attributed the rawer rock tone of SGs to the ceramic magnets. I don't know if this claim is true or not. But Modern SGs and reissues seem to now go with alnico.
I have an Epi SG Custom with a Viper Blue finish and ebony fingerboard. It has a three piece body but you hardly notice it in blue with a veneer top. Surprisingly I didn't have a neck dive issue after putting on the Jim Dunlop straplocks. It hangs just fine and sounds great. Thanks to the added String Butler and factory graph-tech nut it stays in tune just fine. I'm a happy SG camper. 😅
@ nice! You are not alone it’s a popular one for sure. I will probably succumb in the next year or so. Got have one of each shape has become my new goal. Unrealistic I know but it’s fun.
Sure, the Epi is a nice entry. But people (like me), that if they truly want a Gibson, they'll wait if they must. When you want a Gibson, you buy a Gibson.
I make my 3rd guitar make, after Gibson + Fender, Guild.....Jerry Garcia's main performing guitars were two Gibsons & one Guild......which, because of RUclips, I see he played a lot more than I thought. They take a lot more time of traipsing around sampling, though.....which Jerry does say in an interview.
