A lot of people might be less experienced at this game so allow me to explain exactly how Red's strategy works. First, he embraces pacifism saving money that would be spent on military infrastructure. Next, he invests in the education and welfare of his people by funding universities and scientific research. At a certain point he becomes a technological superpower, however his people believe they have risen above the need for conflict with lesser nations. As a result they would rather share their economic success, and build a grand fleet of trade ships to bring wealth from across the seas. This is where the Machiavellian brilliance of iSit is revealed in full. He engages in a "false flag" operation, sinking his own civilian ships and rousing his people to patriotism and war. At this point he diverts funding towards a navy of unparalleled strength, and the rest is history.
Hi Xylor here, around 600 ELO... I played isit, same map, last Friday / Saturday. I took him out completely on all three islands, playing reasonably normally (for me)... He eventually had no docks or villies, BUT he used this strat and had the water... about 20 cannon galleons / few fire ships left by the time I ran out of safe resources... I had no relics, with no bombard cannon tech available. I had to go through an ridiculously slow process of massing a group of villies, (lots of periods where nothing happens so not entertaining to watch), then they all go at once to cut wood near the shores (whilst getting bombed down!), to go back to middle (where i had a safe spot out of range), to remake farms, to make more villies! I even had spies! He had every coast covered and patrolled... ! I tried reasoning, since he couldn't win, but he reasoned neither could I with no safe resources! So I literally went to bed and had a good nights sleep! (This would be most boring game ever to watch for the duration 5 hours!!) Unbelievably, He stayed up keeping watch all night!!! I won't reveal what happened next, but the game ended up being at least 17 hours game time!), iSit said, he has never lost a game like this! He is indeed, a true legend!! :D
