I'll do more of these if there is an interest, I had to leave out several awesome ones to fit under the ten-minute mark, haha.
The Dog only has two short banters with Zev, so I included both of them.

Vaguely italian. Antiva is loosely based around italy

Antiva is based on Italy (several city names are named after Italian cities/landmarks, like Treviso and Rialto), but confusingly, the accents and language are Spanish.
I wouldn't be surprised if/when they flesh the country out more (either in a book or in a future game where we get to go there) it will be a mix of both Spanish and Italian influences.
The banter in Dragon Age Origins was hilarious. I miss Zevran so much.
All of the dragon age banter is great. Anything with Bull, Varric, and Allister is hilarious. Bonus points for Alister if he is arguing with Morrigan.
Zevran and Oghren make me think of Legolas and Gimli... they even look similar...

Zevran is mentioned - he writes a few notes to Leliana during a campaign. One can only hope that maybe we get to see him in a future DLC. Maybe by then he'll have taken over the Crows?
that really would be cool :0 it's nice that we hear about them in the notes but seeing them would be nice too... gosh, i'd kinda hoped we'd see Fenris :/ but depending on the choices you gotta make in da:i, it's maybe better that he wasn't there, actually
Max Payne Yeah I was hoping for Fenris and Zevran as well. Heck I've even written a fan fic where Fenris shows up at Skyhold, and how he and Dorian learn to 'get along' (in my story Fenris remained unromanced at the end of DA2). ;)

Yh not really. Only Zevran had cool banters, the other characters were far too cliche. Entire Origins writing is just bad (to extent of being blind rip off from LotR) and cliche.
DA 2 had much better characters and overall storyline. To this day I remember majority of banters from DA 2, and only few worthy banters with only two-sided companion (Zevran of course) from Origins.
And yeah I did played Origins about 9 times ... so I know what I am talking about.

I love Dragon Age 2 enough to defend it as a worthwhile game, but no. The characters were definitely NOT better than in Origins. If anything, they were much more clichéd.
The broody elf with amnesia and mystical powers
the clumsy, cute, overly socially inept girl, innocent but with great powers.
The snarky rogue with a golden heart
and ofcourse: the sexy pirate queen with a dirty mind.
These characters, while I like them enough, have been done to death! They're much less developped archetypes than the characters in the first game, and understandable, the developpers didn't have enough time to finish the game as best as they could. But to say in absolute that the writing in Origins is worse than 2 is blatantly disregarding the subjectivity of your comment, which doesn't do either games any credit. These games are great at provoking discussions regarding political and cultural themes, they shouldn't be subjected to 'absolute truths' or blunt debattery like that!
And I've played Origins, DA2 and Inquisition 9 times as well, hell, a lot more in fact. That doesn't mean you're more qualified to say which is better.

@@sandrols7 Digging up corpses basically, but prefering companions is purely a matter of taste. I actually find both DA2 and DA:I overall companion groups to be better and more interesting. DA2 companions are my favourite, while when it comes to Origins I couldn't care less about most of them. Beside Zevran, Morrigan, Shale and Loghain the rest could simply not exist for me. And dog, dog has to stay.

I will say now, after not having played all the games in a while (and recently starting again) that the fact that most companions in Origins only get ONE quest specialized to them makes them less grounded in the world. At least in Dragon Age 2, they had quest lines that moved along with the plot of the game. I'm not sure if that's how you feel, but I can see where you are coming from.

In response to the comments below, Flemeth is not an abomination. There is no demon possessing her..that is completely different. Flemeth is much more powerful, and is most likely one of the old gods, considering she can turn into a dragon. Whatever body she has in Origins is the body of her last daughter, most likely. She takes the body of each daughter she has when hers grows old and weak.
