i def understand the need to cringe when hearing yourself sing. but ngl jodi had the best vocal performance out of otv and that’s not just glazing her tone and stability is really good and preferred to my music taste too. john also is really good singer, i think john + jodi with refinement would be really solid singers

Listened to the full album. As a singer, you all absolutely did so well! You guys didn't have much time to practice yet that was amazing and you all definitely have vocal talent. Especially with the fact that each of you only had 1 hour in the studio!? That's not easy at all. LOVE THE ALBUM!!
21:10 The idea of expanding your rib cage is to keep your chest from collapsing as you use up your breath. It's pretty much impossible to expand your rib cage as you exhale, but thinking about expanding helps keep it open so you maintain support. Lots of the physicality of vocal technique is basically playing mind tricks to counter the things your body normally does (that are totally fine in regular existence) that counter your ability to produce a good sound while singing.
Also, even as a trained classical vocalist of over 15 years, the MOST mortifying thing will always be having to listen to recordings of myself singing, so I totally get where that scream at 30:18 came from even though it sounded phenomenal
Jodi as someone who is in the musical theatre business and world as a career I'm not bullsh**ting you when I say you genuinely have such a natural talent and stable voice. If you ever decided to focus on it you could really thrive even more than you already do

For someone who doesn't sing at all, john is able to alter and shape his voice much more than the average person. For example, he can smoothly connect his chest voice to his head voice, which is quite hard for men, can belt, and project. A lot of people can be on pitch but struggle with those things. Even tho he was pitchy he has a surprising amount of potential and jodi does too!
