It would be really cool if the thirlmere railway museum got her back up and running and would do a double header with her sister loco 5917 to Kiama or something
Needed a few gunzells to spread some debris on the tracks! Saw a similar incident on a German steam video where a class 50 2-10-0 came to a stand for the same reasons. Through some really clever manipulation of the regulator the driver managed to lift the train up the grade.

Must have been very similar to what happened in struggle shown in this video:ruclips.net/video/MSRCqFfso1Q/видео.html
Did someone forget to fill the sand box?
Why was the driver not using his sanders?
indeed!
My guess somebody forgot to fill them.
From memory thy had run out of sand.
What grade is Thirlmere bank?
The grade is 1 in 40
Pathetic. No wonder diesels took over!
Too much throttle with shit clutch control. Maybe he'd be better suited in an auto
Dunbass
You have no idea do you? Makes me wonder if you know anything about trains at all 🤔
A diesel would do the same thing
